This is what I've been wasting my time working on, lol!
You may be aware, dog parks can be a great place for dogs to excercise and play with other local dogs... but there is a dark side! Many owners do not understand their dog's body language, thinking, "He's being friendly" when he is actually being threatening, or frightened.
I thought it would be nice to have a little 1-page print out to laminate and hang at the entrance to such parks.
I found out, that's impossible! I don't know if this is even useful at ALL! It doesn't cover adrenalized dogs, sprinting, prey drive, bullying, or what to do in case of a problem! It doesn't cover the nuances of fear vs submission vs calming signals vs stress, it doesn't cover the nuances between dominance, territoriality, arousal, friendly play vs rough play... humping...
Not to mention the TERMINOLOGY! I didn't want to use the word, "dominant", for instance, because it is over used, and not relevant most of the time. But I did, because it's the easiest way to describe a dog who walks around with his tail and head way up in the air confronting other dogs head-on.
