My aesthetic choices are influenced by juxtapositions between control and spontaneity whereas; my emotion dictates what position, structure, or impulse I lean toward. When my life is in a calm state, I find myself experimenting with new techniques, styles, applications, or mediums. However, during times of chaos, I work closer with tedious elements represented by the use of decorative line, geometric shapes, and reoccurring form. I use mind-numbing consistency in my artwork to figuratively control change. This happens because we live in a world that is forever fluctuating, and I often find myself wishing that I was still five, when things did not matter, and life was not set around a concept of time.
Etsy: [link] Once I heard an incredible South American legend (well more story of sort) about thing called "Book of Blood"...supposedly, it's a book with stone covers and pages made of ash...on the covers, round blood colored stone called "eye of the dragon" or "eye of the snake" (I'm not sure in translation) guard the book and will burn anyone who tries to harm it/ destroy it. Things written in this book must remain intact, in any way. By the story, every name, written in blood in that book, will "last forever" meaning it will be remembered by something, good or bad (by the same story, names of people like Gandhi, Martin Luther King, Mother Teresa are some of the names written...unfortunately, there's names like Hitler, too). Anyhow, story has an addition...if couple in love write their names on page in their own blood, they will maintain together forever, not only in life, but in death too. Reading all this again made me want to make a miniature one, so I just did...size is 1 cm x 1.2 cm, covers are polymer clay, painted later to resemble coloration of stone. "Gem" is mix of plastic and different polish paints and pages are made of paper dyed in rosehip tea (so that great color of purplish ash is accomplished and cause rosehip tea should have similar effect on couples in love...by one completely different story, if couple share at least one cup of this tea a year, they will stay in love 'till the end of their days). So, all in all, this is on the first place book for lovers and those in love, but also for those who desiring everlasting fame of some sort
My patient lady-in-waiting was soo good to me concerning how long this one took me to complete. I'm very, very, very glad to have this girl off of my work-table and very pleased how she came together. Materials used: G4 MLP Collectors Series "Celestia" base, Apoxie Clay, scarab wings, fantasy film and wire, Martha Stewart brand glitter, acrylic paint and Mod Podge. Both her horn and her tail are wired into the base. I used a dremel to bore out her legs. I recommend extreme care when using these or any other power tools.
I had a very hard time not stylizing her more than I did and she still came out pretty different than I had originally imagined her. You can see her lil fangs in this shot, ^.^ [link] And another shiny shot in warm light here, [link]
