"I won't tell you anything, you monster!" She had said those words with utmost confidence, though it only masked the apprehension swirling inside her.
"Very well," replied the man, unfazed by her response.
She had very well known the consequences of saving Tenzin and his family, and therefore the airbending race. Now faced with those consequences, reality struck her with an iron fist.
She had decided to be strong, and to surrender with honor. She focused her eyes on the rain-spattered ground as a shadowy figure leisurely moved behind her. A pain worse than a thousand knife wounds stabbed her chest.
These were her last moments as a bender.
Holding her chin high, she remembered her mother, how she had so heavily relied on her earthbending to live every day. The earth provided what her eyes could not. Bending to Lin was so much more than a fancy magic trick. It was what connected her to her mother, the earth, and her own spirit.
She took a he

The power to take a benders ability to bend away for good.
Korra would, naturally, never admit it to anyone, but seeing this had terrified her.
While she was mulling over what had happened, she felt Naga's muscles move beneath her. In a way, the steady, constant motion of Naga helped her remain calm and composed, though she was far from feeling like that.
She could feel Bolin's breath against her back as he was currently leaning against her. Korra and Mako hadn't gotten to the gathering in time to same Mako from Amon's powers. They had been too late because they couldn't figure out where the meeting was being held, and when they did, it had been too late.

"Are you prepared to be equalized, Avatar Korra?"
"What are you talking about?" I demanded.
Addressing the crowd, Amon started his speech: "I have come up with a completely sure way to cleanse Republic City of its impurity." He turned to face all the benders on the stage. "Many of you here are former pro-benders. And even if you are not, you were still praised for your ability. Praised for your tyranny over non-benders. You were proud of what you could do and used it to your advantage every day. Your punishment for doing so still allows you to use bending to your advantage, but not in a way you'll like.
"All of you will be put into a closed off area - an arena of some sort," Amon continued. He looked me straight in the eye as his voice boomed "You will be forced to fight to the death."
This received several whoops and hollers from the crowd. They roared on and on while my trembling reached its maximum. I looked over at Mako with scared eyes. This couldn't be happening. I could lose all
Pride and PityThe gentle pats of the raindrops was the first thing I had awoken to. Like gentle kisses a mother would give to a child before they went to bed. How a simple thing such as rain could pain me so; reminding me of my own mother. I shook the thought away and focused on where I was. "I won't tell you anything, you monster!"
A shaky sigh had escaped my lips and I squeezed my eyes shut, shutting the world out with it. The constant pitter patter of the raindrops would not leave me alone, nor would the memory that still burned brightly in my mind...scaring me forever. It was a scar that never have I experienced before, something not visible, yet so painful.

LoK: Lightning Generation Lessons (Makorra Fluff)It was just another beautiful, warm day on Air Temple Island. Now that the Equalist war was over, things were finally starting to become more peaceful between the benders and non-benders of Republic City's society. The people were living in harmony once again, just as Aang had dreamed. This allowed for Korra to not only formally proceed with her airbending training with Tenzin, but to further enrich her abilities by learning the sub-forms of bending as well.LoK: Lightning Generation Lessons (Makorra Fluff)3 years ago in Romance More Like This

"Do you know where Zuko is?"
The twelve year old frowned slightly. "You'd rather see him than me?" she asked skeptically. Her tone was icy and a familiar sensation of fear chilled my blood. But I had learned to restrain my emotions. I didn't let my fear show.
"No, princess," I replied calmly, "That's not it. It's just that I haven't seen him yet today and was wondering if he was alright."
Her hazel eyes bore into mine, searching for a possible motive for seeking out her brother. Apparently she was unable to see through my expressionless face. "He's out in the garden. Something about an Agni Kai."
"Thank you, princess." I bowed and ran off in the direction of the garden.
Despite how often Azula would put Zuko down, I had always had my own thoughts about him. I appreciated him more than anyone else in my life. He wasn't like Azula. She expected to be treated like a princess. But even though

Naga's howls had disrupted his uncomfortable sleep. Something in the atmosphere had made the firebender uneasy throughout the Winter Solstice festival, but he ignored it for Korra's sake, to have some fun with his girlfriend of six months after being so busy as of late. There it was again- the dream. She´s been having that dream since March.
She rubbed her eyes and sat up, then looked around her cabin. Nobody had seemed to notice- everyone was sleeping heavily. Piper sighed. If only she could do that.
Gaea has been sending her the same dream over and over again- the world falling into chaos, her friends and family being slaved, Gaea rising in her giant throne of interwoven roots.
Piper knew that trying to sleep again was no good, so instead she changed her pajama pants by some jeans, and quickly put her feet in her gray shoes. She didn´t change her shirt, though- a gray long-sleeved one.
She stood up and went out into the windy night.
She usually- after every nightmare- gave a walk around Camp, no matter how late it was or what will the harpies do to her if they found her. She didn´t care- she just wanted a distraction.
And a fine distraction she got, too; for Jason apparently decided to take a walk.

A blonde haired boy stood in the empty boy's bathroom, shoulders shaking as he bent over one of the dusty, cracked sinks. No-one ever used these bathrooms. Barely any of the students even knew they existed. Hidden away down one of the many unused corridors of Hogwarts. The perfect place to go to if you wanted to be alone, and Draco Malfoy wanted to be alone. The tears streaming down his pale and mouse-like face added to the soft splashing sound of a tap which dripped a few sinks along. Wiping them away aggressively he briefly looked up at himself in the scratched mirror above the sink. He looked a wreck. His fringe, slightly damp from where he had wiped his tears, stuck out at the edges. His usually perfectly gelled-back hair was beginning to loosen itself too. He run both hands violently through it, forcing the hair to all stick out in all directions, making him vaguely resemble a blonde version of Potter. A tear managed to force itself once more in the corner of his eye, and it fell

The dark space around me was cold as ice, a somewhat moldy stench coming from the wooden bench I sat on. Nearly every jolt that came from the moving truck sent me tumbling across the floor, only to cause a vain attempt on my part to stay upright. Knowing the city I glimpsed every now and again as we passed down empty streets full of bombed out houses, made me want to scream for help even with the tight cloth around covering my mouth.
I knew yelling would do no good, but it's my last resort. Nothing else I do would be of any good either.
The truck jerked to a stop, making my body turn and fly toward the front of the vehicle. My ears perked up at the sound of a cheering crowd and thumping on the walls of my prison. Moving into the most threatening position possible for a tied up teen, the metal doors on the truck's rear opened to bright sunlight and the faces of over a thousand Equalist supporters, all cheering for the arrival of another sacrifice to their cause.

Mako woke up early the next morning to check on Korra's wound. He smiled when he saw that it hadn't bled during the night. He still decided however to have Katara come and check on her as soon as she woke up, which at this point was not for another hour or so. The Firebender got off the bed as quietly as he could and wrapped his wife up in a blanket before checking up on his children.
To his surprise both his children were awake. He smiled at them as he sat on their bed. "Do you two think you can watch your mother for me?" he asked. "I'm going to go get Katara."
"Is Mom ok?" Karah replied. He nodded.
"I just want her to check her," he reassured. The twins nodded and made their way to their mother's room. They both climbed into the bed and curled up next to her. Korra instinctively threw an arm around both of them. The children smiled and drifted off to sleep.

Hermione Weasley was prattling on to her only daughter, Rose. The Weasley family was at Kings Cross Station in London, on the first of September, and it was quarter to eleven.
It was Rose's younger brother, Hugo's first year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, and Hermione was terribly worried about him. He wasn't anything like Rose, he was small and shy. Whereas her daughter liked to leap into things with both feet first.
