The computer screens and holographic projections that Bruce Banner had been working from vanished at once, the lights also flickering off as the electricity supply was cut by the blast. Steve Rogers, suited in his Captain America uniform, had managed to use his shield to protect himself from the flying debris, and apart from the impact of hitting the floor, had remained altogether unscathed. His combat training meant that it took him only seconds to get himself together, before he immediately went in search for his comrades, who lay strewn amongst the wreckage.

It was not often that the Avengers were off duty, much less all at the same time, but tonight was one of those evenings where the world had managed to keep itself stable enough to allow them some time off. Though Director Fury had insisted that they stay within the S.H.I.E.L.D headquarters in case of an emergency, an attack on the earth was the last thing on their minds right now. Sat around a table in Tony Stark's chambers, all six Avengers stared across at one other expressionlessly, piles of chips on the table before them and two playing cards clutched to their chests. The game was on.
"Are we all ready?" Tony the dealer for the first round asked, his hand hovering over the deck of cards as he cast a questioning glance in Thor's direction. It had taken almost two hours, and the combined efforts of all those sitting at the table, to explain the rules of the game to the god, and judging by the baffled expression which passed over his face, he st
Touch a HeartWalking as soundlessly as he could manage down the steel hallways of the S.H.I.E.L.D headquarters, Steve Rogers sighed to himself wistfully. This was the third night in a row that he had been awoken by terrible dreams, and by now he knew that it was pointless to try and get back to sleep. Yet instead of sitting and reading comics like he had done previously, Steve had decided to leave his room, hoping that a midnight wander would clear his mind enough for him to catch some sleep.Touch a Heart3 years ago in Short Stories More Like This
Pressing the pad of his thumb to the sensor, Steve winced as the huge metal door slid open, praying that the sound was not enough to alert the security. It was impossible to walk through this building without coming into contact with some form of technology something which had taken him a while to get used to, considering his past life. After all, he'd lived in a time when a genetically modified human had been the highest advancement in technology the world had ever seen. Now, machines and electronics r
Who Am IIt was the sound of sobbing that brought Thor Odinson to a halt outside his brother's chambers. If he had been in any greater hurry, he would have perhaps mistaken the noise to be nothing more than a gentle breeze whispering through the curtains, or the gentle flow of water being poured into a goblet. It was not often that such a pitiful sound could be heard from Loki's chambers, as he was usually such a collected soul, but on this day, there was no doubt in Thor's heart that his brother was crying.Who Am I3 years ago in Short Stories More Like This
Approaching the door, Thor kept his footsteps as soundless as possible, hoping not to alert his brother to his presence. Since he had returned to Asgard as a prisoner, Loki's chambers had become his prison cell, and though many had offered to visit him, he had sent everyone away. Humiliated and heartbroken, he had hidden himself out of sight, and not a sound had come from within that room...until now.
"Loki..." Thor whispered, pressing his brow to the cast iron door that stood between him a
Love WithstandsBeing alone was a feeling that Natasha Romanoff was quite used to, considering her line of work. It was not in an assassin's nature to need the company of another person, for each worked alone, their duty as their only companion. And all of her life, Natasha had sworn never to love she knew too well how much it hurt when they were torn away from you, which they inevitably would be, sooner or later. Yet on this night, as she sat alone in her small house on the outskirts of New York City, Natasha yearned to have the company of another. Never in her life, not since she was a little girl, had she wanted to be with someone else so badly it was a strange feeling, but it was one she embraced nevertheless. The reason: for the first time in twenty long years, someone had entered her life that made her feel happy.

Coffee"Here," Bruce smiled, pressing a warm cup of coffee between Tony's fingers before turning back to the counter to make his own. His hands were gentle as they worked, carefully spooning two lots of coffee granules into a mug before pouring on the hot water, stirring slowly all the while. 'How could the man find comfort in such a mundane chore', Tony wondered, watching his friend work, 'when you could get technology to do it for you?' But then, Bruce Banner had always been a man of commitment, in all aspects of his life, and Tony couldn't help but admire him for it.Coffee3 years ago in Short Stories More Like This

Tony Stark was tired. Deathly tired. Sure, he'd gone days without sleep in the past, when he was working on something big but this was different. He was past the point where coffee could keep his mind alert, and no amount of pinching was going to keep his eyes open for any longer. His body was on the verge of absolute shut-down, and there was nothing he could do to stay awake now. He was going to have to succumb.
"JARVIS, I think I'm going to catch some sleep, okay? Can you finish up here?" Tony mumbled, already rising from his chair and staggering over towards the door of his workshop.
"I think that'd be best, sir," came the reply, "twenty hours of sleep may just suffice."
Snorting at his computer system's sarcastic response, Tony looked back to his workspace to what he'd accomplished. Never before had he spent so long on a singular project, and never had he worked on something so very

And the ache of soul carried the torch of dreams into the sky
Upon scent of mortal thirst destiny whispered in myriad
rapture of folding tides..
Lo the mythic shore, where I — a phantasm of love bleeds
into the ether of velvet sky & ocean hymn...
Lost in the wine of omni-dreaming, for our passion tis but
the humble audience of eternity
In jeweled horizons the Goddess feasts; her gaze I cannot flee
I have crossed oceans of time & drank the song of worlds
My spirit forever slain in the beauty of her immortal sea

Visions of madness shimmer in silvery skies
Horizons of passion drown in timeless beauty
There is a voice so pure that can melt a Sun,
a fragrance so luring that can reap mortal breath
Once thou hath gazed into the eyes of a Siren,
love befalls in a kiss, upon whispers of death
An endless ocean swirls, ethereal waves bewail
the sound of her cry haunts eons of dreams
In the deepest abyss, my soul shall forever sail
For a thousand years, I drifted in her song
lost in restless fever of wanton seas
Gently I reached towards her long silvery hair;
embroidered in tempest of Love's odyssey
Tears of sapphire jewel oceans deep ...
luminous thoughts seeking the nectar of bliss
Among flesh and shadows, I crave evermore
Lips unveiled, blackness approaches
my destiny entombed by the Siren's lore
When the world turns forever still,
only the sound of her fleeting whispers remain,
like echoes of rain, suspended over the sea

Let my hold you close,
and wrap my arms around you.
Let me warm you up,
and take away the cold
and put it in my soul.
I'll take away your anger,
Your not a hater baby,

I'll take the hate,

Let me take your sorrow

Where none other dare intrude
A love story for the ages

Never put to the pen
For others to marvel and sigh over
To shine through the future as beacons

These are the great love stories never written

I am in a quiet room.
I am in the birds that sing.
I am in each lovely thing.
So do not stand at my grave and cry.
I am not there.

Bubbling over with happiness anyway
BECAUSE OF YOU!
I wanna hug the whole world
kissing, caress lovingly, holding it in my arms
BECAUSE OF YOU!
Finally i can smile again,
feeling like doing thousand and one things
BECAUSE OF YOU!
I enjoy a new lease of life,
looking ahead, knowing everthing will get fine
BECAUSE OF YOU!
For the courage, the smiling,
the feeling like doing thousand things
the happiness, the fluttering butterflies,
the dancing, jumping and singing
I THANK YOU!

The God of MischiefThe night was peaceful, serene. The sky grew darker with each moment that passed, a deep violet canvas speckled with steadily glowing stars, their light reflecting off the surface of the water. Midnight was approaching, bringing the tide higher and higher up the shore, the waves whispering as they lapped up onto the sand. And far out on the headland, the solitary beam of a lighthouse shone out across the water, an occasional toll of its bell echoing out into the night. The God of Mischief3 years ago in Short Stories More Like This
And then, the world erupted. It all happened in a moment; the sky was torn apart as if a knife had been slashed through its canvas, and the light which poured out from the gash was a bright, brilliant blue. But no sooner had it opened did it knit itself together again, leaving the night as calm and quiet as before. But the sky had not opened without a reason. Something had slipped through that gap, and was now plummeting uncontrollably towards the earth. Onlookers may have said it was a star, fallen from the sky, but it

To find the answer,
Don't look deep.
Look in front of you.
Don't listen to people who say,
'Never regret anything,'
Because chances are,
They regret a lot more than you know.
Listen to your own feelings.
Because if you don't,
You could lose all of your senses,
And your way.
Blinding Hearts (Chapter Eight)Dreams, dreams everywhere.Blinding Hearts (Chapter Eight)3 years ago in Settings More Like This
A calm, dark sky had filled the air. A chilled breeze flooded through my window. It was weird, I remembered shutting it.
When I finally managed to go to sleep, I had dreams; which I haven't witnessed for a while now. After all of the relentlessness, I could finally dream.
The dream was remarkable.
I was in a field, or just a grassy area in general. Feeling unusually warm, I would hear a sudden voice in the air, next to my ear.
"I wish this day could last forever", whispered a male voice. His voice was so...sweet. Almost like a song of some sort, very soft and clear. I could feel my fingertips being touched. It was such a tender sensation.
All in an instant, the night was over.
I woke up in a flash. That dream should have lasted forever, I said to myself, mimicking the voice I had heard. The night was so short. Yawning tiredly, I had an unusual craving for coffee. It was funny, because I didn't even like coffee.
Hugging my shoulders, I walked over to my

I was in my own home. My own space.
I gaped at the walls, the beautifully painted white walls. The handsome blood red carpet, the small yet large windows with a wooden frame. I was home, home at last.
I inhaled strongly, and exhaled firmly. I loved everything. I could already plot out which room was which.
My heart fluttered as I went into the room which was now my bedroom. It had a large window that granted my wish to see into the depths of the city, and a small park. It was right next to a small desk. A bed was on the other side of the tiny room, in a corner. There must have been someone living here before. After all, these apartments were the kind you would rent. Maybe the nurse had prepared this.
I ran into the small kitchen, followed by the bathroom. Everything was so beautiful. It was small, of course, but amazing.
After so many hours of looking, and embracing the entire thing, I went to my bed. Not to sleep, but to lay there in happiness and dream

The days of waiting were over.
I woke up on a rather chilly Monday. My dusky brown eyes had searched around the room. Where was the nurse? Ah, it probably wasn't her job to wake me up this early. I suddenly remembered; today was the day to go to my new apartment. Excitement flowed through me at an insane pace. I was so incredibly happy, but I tried not to show it.
It was almost like the cut on my chest could heal more and more almost every day. That was impossible, but I liked to think of it that way, for some reason.
Lost in happiness and thought, the nurse came in. This time she came with a doctor, who I had never seen before. I looked at them, my emotions full of color. I could only hope they had something positive to say.
"Minhee," the nurse began. "Today is the day you go home. All of your illnesses have gone for the most part, but you should still take an occasional antibiotic."
They both smiled at me in a happy manor. I couldn't help but return

Many hours later, hours into the night, I woke up once more. I could barely sleep, because I was haunted by painful memories and nightmares. I tried not to fear them, but it was instinct to. I sat in my bed for another hour until the nurse came back. "Hey dear, how was your sleep?" she asked, with a mere smile. Looking at the floor and occasionally glancing at the window as I spoke, "I... I had a few nightmares, but I guess I'm alright. Some of the chest pain has gone away, since you gave me some antibiotics the last time we spoke."
She nodded, with a still look on her face. She seemed very content at the moment. She placed a cup of water on the tray she brought in earlier, as well as a bright, pink flower for decoration. "Today, you're having some chicken soup, if that's okay. Straight from the can."
She laughed. I smiled a little myself. "I'll change your bandages after you eat, okay?" she asked, and smiled and she gently set the tray on my lap.
