Small Art Feature!
~leuvsion recently held a contest about drawing their character Cora, which appears in the iPhone/iPad games Twisted Fates, Cora-Bolt and Super Cora-Bolt. You may remember that I made much of the graphical assets for Twisted Fates (and much of it has been recycled or expanded on in the other games), and that in most of the games you can also play as MiSha or Erika. Although the contest was about Cora, some entries also featured MiSha and Erika. I've decided to do a small feature of these artworks, and the contest winners, as an extra prize, even though I didn't participate in the contest's organization. It's just fun seeing MiSha and Erika drawn by other people.

Q: How did you get into cosplay photography?
Regan: I first I heard about Manifest from my high school anime club. The club first started that year as well, and I think it was the first high school club. I saw a few fantastic cosplays and photos and thought I would like to do something like that.
Gradually I spent more and more time with cosplay as more and more meetups and conventions were organised and became mainstream. I recall going to the first Madman National Cosplay Comp held at Sebel Albert Park in 2009, trying to take photos in low light with my old compact and realising that it wouldn't cut it, and I think that was one of the driving forces for me to upgrade. I had previously used a Konica Minolta film P&S, a Sony C

So I casually went onto dA now, and I was just looking at my page and stuff, and then I saw 9,002 pageviews--- AND THEN I WAS LIKE WOAH 9,002 PAGEVIEWS WHUT IM DIE.
Ohmylord.... like WOW. Tbh, I started on dA not really thinking I could ever get such a high number of pageviews OR watchers OR anything! I MEAN 900,2 PGVS AND 199 WATCHERS THIS IS MADNESS. Thankyou all so much for all the support, and I know I've been pretty inactive for the past couple of months with school and stuff, but that's (hopefully) about to change! I just made a RedBubble account after trying out a handful of different store sites.
I have to stop selling prints directly for a few months so this is my temporary replacement.
They make stickers which is kinda nifty 8) cause who doesn't like stickers??! (Ok besides mothers with small children who stick them all over the walls.) I ordered a few so I can see the quality for myself, but they haven't arrived yet.

- Instantly listens to quick prompts / direction.
- Be open to any critique mid or after shoots!
- Have a decent understanding of what the photographer is looking at (light/framing)
- Pose naturally and (if in Cosplay) act in character .
- Be confident for the duration of the shoot.
- Avoid being self concious.
- Be aware of the direction of light (to avoid unflattering shadows, etc)
- Loosen up! Literally. Shake your limbs and relax your muscles from time to time.
- Avoid squinting. If the sun is too bright you will naturally squint. Close your eyes and ask the photographer to do a count down.
- Throw ideas at your photographer. Be creative.
So there you go.. If you want to make life incredibly easy for your photographer try and nail the above points.
While I'm shooting I need 100% trust from my subject. I also can't have anyone disagreeing with my requests however odd they are (unless I ask em to do something dangerous, lol).
