TO THE ASPIRING ARTISTS OUT THERE...." I haven't reached the point where I think I'm good at this. that's the drive. i know that its in me to be really good at it. and i think i've come close a few times, but i don't usually look at things i've completed and feel content. Which that means the next thing you start, you go in with that attitude that 'this time, I'm gonna get it right.' it doesnt mean you hate everything you do, but i'm never content. Working Hard for the Money
My step father once told me, when I was a kid, that what made someone a professional rather than an amateur was that they were paid for what they did. He was wrong.
Many people use my step father's explanation for what makes a professional and I find that it leads to shoddy workmanship because it takes the focus off of getting good at what we do and shifts it to getting good enough to get paid. Or even worse just getting paid. The craft is often thrown out the window in favor of just doing whatever it takes t

How to survive zombieapocalypse in 5 easy stepsCGHUB is no more. I guess most of you aren't bother but some people take it way too serious. Here are a few simple rules I follow over the years to keep my mind safe:How to survive zombieapocalypse in 5 easy steps2 years ago in Personal More Like This
1. Save all the stuff you like. Now. Put it on your hard drive, burn on CD, print it out... whatever... just don't expect you'll see it online for the rest of your life. Pinterest, Evernote, Dropbox yada yada are nice but you don't own them. Use them but have a safe local vault too.
When I see cool picture I save it right away - 'right click, save as' habit goes on autopilot. I've got only 236 favourites on dA but my local dA storage has over 12,000+ images (chances are I've got your scribbles too ).
2. Organize. It's a quintessential, super important skill. Doesn't matter if you're student or busness owner. Say if you dump all your images into one folder, good luck with finding specific image later. I build a simple folder system to sort out my stuff. When I paint armor I just scan the armor refs (F

I joined Deviant Art I few years back bright eyed and hopeful. I tried to show case some talent I felt I had and over a period gained a handful of friends. Like most folks in the last several years the hard times came and with that I slowly faded away from this friendly art community. With some help from friends we reopen DreamOrchid's doors with a new website (www.dreamorchid.com), official DreamOrchid face book page (http://www.facebook.com/pages/DreamOrchid/189645937780364), and even a twitter account. Please feel free to like us if you wish. With all this said I'm back with a bang. I decided since I hit 20k views and with the renewal of a subscription to throw a contest. If anyone wishes to donate prizes to the list please send m

FANTASY CHARACTERS COLLECTION
Fantasy-NPC inaugurates a series of journals on the fantasy characters. In this journal the illustrations were divided in classes of barbarians, bards and clerics. I know that maybe some character among those present in this collection may not be part of the class in which it was entered, but the classes are a way to divide more harmoniously all these beautiful illustrations. The next journal will be devoted to the druids, fighters and monks.
I hope you like my work.

this year that will end soon has been a one of the most wonderful experiences I have had, all those dreams and thoughts of being a real artist have been fulfilled after a year taking multiple classes meeting amazing artists, I could have never dream of metting, friends with the same passion and drive, motivation to keep me going for forever, I've found all of that, in one year adventure.
the previous year I said I wanted to be a concept artist and that was my goal, but I've found that I can't stop exploring and trying new things, which has changed they way I do my artwork and made me see that animation art is where I want to go, and where i'm going, amazing artist like Shyoon Kim, Tron Mai, Jay Oliva, Mark McDonnell, Andrew Cawrse and many more have influenced my life in a way I never though before it could happen.
SO, what happen at the end. I've found m

I want to say firstly thank you for making such a group :iconartistshospital: in the first place, while I haven't made much progress I know that I have a solid resource to build a strong foundation on for practicing art.
I had a few questions for you about art and drawing in general(that I can't remember of course) if you didn't mind.
A: It's an honor to have those questions asked to me, now I finally get the time to sit down and answer them. Hope that my life experience can help to keep some inspired and keep going.
how you started off with an interest in art, animation, and the like?
A: Oh, I am one of those... uh, born drawing girl. Everyone has a different start, I was entranced by newspaper comics ever since I was a baby. I could sit there and STARE at the pictures for hours, my mom still talks about how she wondered what I was staring at. When I co

Thoughts on developing a good styleA common question I get asked is how to develop a good style.Thoughts on developing a good style5 years ago in Art Features More Like This
Here are some of my thoughts on this subject...
Don't think what kind of style do people want. Just be yourself & search for knowledge. Style is developed through knowledge.
Just painting or drawing how you naturally do is not enough to develop a good solid style. If art is an interpretation of something we can relate to LIFE, then you have to learn about the different aspects of LIFE to get better at art. Nothing is sadder than seeing an artist with a great idea but doesn't have the knowledge or skill to make it happen the way they had initially envisioned it. I still have this problem from time to time so I search for the knowledge and know how to make the idea I initially had to appear the way I want it to.
Your ideas are what makes you unique. Once you have the idea, you search for the knowledge to make those ideas happen the way you envisioned it. I don't know about all of you but I can bet that when most of you learn s

FAQ! Finally!Hello everybody!FAQ! Finally!4 years ago in Personal More Like This
I've been getting an increase in notes and messages lately asking all kinds of things. Problem is, I'm far from having the time to answer all these questions individually (even if I did have it it would probably make more sense to spend it drawing), but I don't want to leave them unanswered either since I appreciate everyone's feedback a lot. So I decided to make a kind of FAQ, since I'm mostly being asked the same things over and over.
I'll try to group these semantically so reading though them makes a bit of sense.
Did you ever do any tutorials?
- Yes, I spent a lot of time on this one:
There's a lot of explaining in there, so please before you ask anything technique or learning related, read it thoroughly first.

Croods Trailer and New Facebook PageA lot of things to tell you about this morning. First, I've gotten the word that our first Croods trailer will be up and active on Apple Trailers http://trailers.apple.com/trailers/ tomorrow morning, October 3rd. I've heard that it's gonna be up at 8:00 AM, but I'm not sure if thats California time or East Coast time. My guess is that's California time. This is the teaser trailer, and since it was cut we've very nearly finished animating the film. More trailers will follow, but not for a little while. Be sure and check it out - our talented crew has really outdone themselves this time. Some of my favorite movies were caveman themed - Quest For Fire, Caveman, etc. But I never dreamed I'd get to make one myself. The cool thing about this is that we've gotten a chance to present cavemen in a fresh way. Croods was freed from the physical limitations of live actors, but we had the lCroods Trailer and New Facebook Page3 years ago in Personal More Like This
