CHAPTER 12: Field Day Fiasco (First draft. Final version in the works)
Bucky, Orion, and Peach Cobbler were in a situation now. Not only had they inadvertently sent themselves and possibly their friends and family back in time, but now they were on the brink of erasing their own existences. Not only had they already run into the original Cutie Mark Crusaders, but now they had been invited to join them in the annual Ponyville Field Day. Bucky especially felt the pressure of secrecy thanks to his relation to Apple Bloom. Alone for the moment as Apple Bloom, Scootaloo, and Sweetie Belle left to train for the event, the new CMC began to discuss just how deep in trouble they were.
"Of all the ponies in all the world," Bucky muttered, "I walk into mah aunt."
"We've got to be more careful, guys!" Peach added. "If we run into our moms the same way as we did with these guys..."
"We can kiss our flanks goodbye." Orion said, finishing her thought.
The three were in agreement. They could

The Crystal Empire was slowly becoming engulfed in a mass of threatening, black clouds; dark as the deadliest of storms. Screams could be heard all around as the crystal ponies began to panic. Up in the tallest tower in the city, Twilight found herself trapped within the confines of a black-crystal prison, the gems risen up from the ground, blocking any means of escape for the lavender unicorn. Just outside, Spike started to feel nervous. His eyes darted from side to side, his feet moved up and down like two, small pistons.
Twilight started to scramble within the crystal-walled trap, looking for the Crystal Heart with a set of panicked eyes.
"The heart? Where's the Crystal..." she started, voice q

#100) What prompted you to start your Brony Advice column? Also, you seem to get a wide range of questions concerning everything from personal relationship and social group issues, to commentaries on art and music, all surrounding the MLP fandom; do you ever find yourself surprised or caught off guard by the questions you receive, and do you ever have difficulty answering them?
Answer: I started this column with a simple dream: a dream of understanding brony thought-processes. I like to do my best to observe the fandom and draw from it what I can. A good way of doing this is via samples and case studies. Some excellent case studies are in the form of these questions; as the questions are being asked by bronies, generally, they are representative of what certain parts of the fandom are thinking. Even the most ridiculous questions are worth documenting: in twenty years time I can look back on this column and see exactly the kind of things that bronies were thinking at the t

Ninja Apple Bloom: The Wild Imagination of a Blank-Flank Filly
The day was dreary and dark. The landscape devoid of lush life, replaced with jagged rock and twisted trees, branches like arms outstretched. The calm bluish-grey day hidden behind a veil of dark grey and thunder, yet neigh a drop of rain fell from the sky.
The lone figure of a pony hid behind one of the many trees, her face mostly hidden behind the black fabric of her outfit. Her orange eyes darting around. She was focused, determined to accomplish her mission.
"Now to find a way to sneak into the castle." The filly, Apple Bloom, muttered. Her country drawl clear even if her mouth was hidden behind the black fabric. She gazed up towards her destination. A large, gothic castle perched high atop the mountain, towers rising up to end in cone-like roofs. Fire

She is an unknown goddess who plays solitaire on the moon
All she wants is love and you do not know her name,
She does not know your games,
She does not want to be alone,
She wants love so much,
And yet she is feared, the one who's scared the most.
No heaven knows more beauty, no hell more pain...
She has returned now with the holy gift of night
But do you know her name?

My heart in learning of arts
To be a costumer of lives
An artisan graceful
Needles and threads my swords and shields
My armors made of the finest silks
I had a talent to craft
An eye to match
With a young ambition:
Make dresses of princess' worth
Sew suits fit for a prince
But still my skills were lacking
The final touch to fulfill my art
In evening's dim it flickered:
Spell evoked from the heart
With magic's guide I started
The journey to the unknown
"Come rain or snow or choking drought
I won't turn away!
I'm on my way to find out
My destiny's call, what I yearn for "
Followed the path for my fate
For what lies beyond the far horizon
My spell led me across the land
Through forests, rivers and hills
Came night, faded daylight

#97) I am an open brony with everyone, except my parents. I'd tell them, but my dad will not approve. He even disapproved and called me gay when I was really into "Phineas and Ferb". Imagine if he found out [about "Friendship is Magic"]! There's no way he would approve. But I want to buy merchandise, shirts, and other stuff. So what do you think I should do about telling my parents?
Answer: Your dad sounds like a royal prick. I don't know what his upbringing was like, but your sexuality isn't defined by watching a simple TV show. "Phineas and Ferb" might be geared towards an audience younger than yourself, but I'm not sure why it would be considered, in his eyes, to be 'gay'. I think he might be getting mixed up between watching something that's distinctly effeminate and watching something that targets kids in general. If anything, "Phineas and Ferb" is a show pitched at boys (although, naturally, it does have universal appeal) and so I can see why you'd be worried about

CHAPTER 13: Twins in Time (First draft. Final version in the works)
Berry Pie woke up in a panic and jumped to his feet. Cold sweat and rain ran down his body with light drips onto the wooden floor. Looking down at his twin sister sleeping safe and sound beside him, he relaxed his tense shoulders and breathed a sigh of relief. He had almost forgotten where they were until his mind fully adjusted to consciousness again. There were in the Apple farm treehouse. How they had made it here, he couldn't remember, but at this point he didn't care as his sky-blue eyes scanned his slowly darkening surroundings. The room was full of crayon-drawn posters in a stack, a picture frame, and various other things. This did not look like the setup Berry knew as a colt or saw recently, reminding him what Bismarck said about how they had traveled back in time.
If there was any proof, the pictures and drawings of and by Scootaloo, Sweetie Belle, and Apple Bloom in the room confirmed it. He approach

CHAPTER 9: Welcome to the Past (First draft. Final version in the works)
Zecora's eyes snapped awake and her body jerked from the sound of twigs snapping outside of her house, nearly making her fall out of bed. Twilight and her friends visited often but she was not expecting visitors at sunrise. Whatever was outside was either trying to break in or was in need of help. Getting up, the zebra made her way to the door slowly, ready for any intruder who may cross her path. Anything could be in the Everfree Forest and she was too smart to take chances. Listening carefully, she could hear voices outside.
"Yes, Flora, I think we are in the past." a voice whispered in mid-conversation. "Whatever my brother did, it caused a chain reaction that sent us all through time."
"But how far back?" a small squeaky voice asked. That one must have been "Flora."
"Look at the decorations around the hut. My mom said she donated some of these masks to a museum because they were significant artifacts.

CHAPTER 11: Shelter (First draft. Final version in the works)
The sun continued to rise slowly in the morning chill and the frigid draft of the wind blew through the apple trees of the Apple family. The rumble of thunder echoed in the distance while it whistled around Radiance, making her want to curl into a tight ball. She couldn't hear anything, open her eyes, or move more than a little, but she could feel the bitterness of the breeze down to her bones. Her body shivered and her mind could not think of anything but the cold, as if ice had frozen her in place. Slowly, her senses began to return, and only when the crackle of a small fire could be heard and felt did she relax. Her heavy eyes opened narrowly, watching the blurred movements of the amber sparks in front of her. Their dim glowing air patterns danced before her before rising up into the air and disappearing in the small plume of grey smoke. A figure poked at the smoldering wood, keeping it alive and preventing the w

As the Wheel Turns
Snips and Snails were dripping sweat as they struggled to drag along the heavy wooden cart that dug into the ground. The cart plowed up the dirt and left a sizable trench in its wake. They looked at one another, tired and worn out from pulling the new tyrant of ponyville to the edge of the forcefield. They stopped for a moment to take a quick break. As soon as they had stopped, a glowing red whip snapped at their backsides from mid-air.
"Pull you fools!" the whip snapped it at them twice more. "Somepony set off the magic forcefield and Trixie intends to punish them!" shouted Trixie as she prepared to whip her subjects once more for good measure. She did not have to go through with the final whip, as the two simpletons had begun to move twice as fast as they previously were. Snips craned his head back towards the unrelenting whip wielder.
"But wouldn't it be faster if we had some wheels?" he asked nervously, his voice higher than usual.
Trixie's head snapped up and he

Bucky's eyesight remained blurry as he looked around, desperately hoping to find something or somepony who could help him. He was in a room of some sort, but felt too nauseous to tell whose it was. His chest heaved with difficulty with each gasp of air becoming more shallow than the last while something clung tightly on his throat. His hoof grasped his neck to feel his Cutie Mark Crusader's cape. He had forgotten that he had put it on, but now it was choking him. Grasping at the knot, he tore it off, flooding oxygen into his lungs. He coughed loudly and painfully, gasping for a while before he sunk his head back to the cold floor. Taking the moment to catch his breath, his green eyes darted around, searching his surroundings. He was inside a small warm bedroom, not the cool basement where he once was. Stuffed animals surrounded him from all sides, their glass eyes watching his every move and motion an

It was mid-morning when the zebra mare trotted into Ponyville.
Her appearance was striking, even compared to the citizens of the town with their brightly-colored coats and manes: the zebra's coat was a very light grey with black stripes on her legs, tail and mohawk-like mane. A large jagged pattern of black ran down her spine and halfway down her barrel, dark grey sun-like whorls were set upon her flanks and her muzzle was squared off as opposed to having the dainty rounding of most mares.
A series of golden rings encircled her neck from her collarbone to her jaw and another similar set were worn in the middle of her left foreleg. A large golden hoop hanging from each ear completed the exotic picture.
The zebra mare's name was Zecora. And she was becoming annoyed.
A small group of the daily crowd had stopped going about their routines - shopping, visiting friends and such - and were staring openly at her. She was still a source of c

Smokey set a towel wrapped around a chunk of snow upon Fluttershy's forehead to help reduce the fever. Even though the pegasus' shuddering body revolted against having anything cold touch her, she knew it was what she needed to fight the fever. Her painkiller had worn off and the dull throbbing in her hoof added to her misery.
The dragon retrieved another pain pill and a glass of water for her. "Here you are, Miss Fluttershy. Another painkiller for your hoof."
Removing the makeshift ice pack from her forehead, Fluttershy slowly sat upright. She accepted the proffered capsule and swallowed it down with the glass of water. Handing it back to the reptile, she snuggled back under the covers and replaced the cold press on her head.
"I'll go out and get you some medicine right away." Smokey brushed Fluttershy's cheek with the backs of his index and middle fingers. He wasn't too fon

With the remaining power that was still in my weaken body I entered the wealthy building that was outstanding others that were surrounding it. As we sped along, Scootaloo directed my attention to the dense mass of trees near Fluttershy's cottage.
"That's the Everfree Forest, by the way. Ponies tend to stay away from it when they can, unless they're super brave."
"Well, why?" I asked. "What's in it?"
"Lots of weird things!" said Sweetie Belle. "Fluttershy said there's manticores and timber wolves and cocka-thingies!" I gulped.
"Manticores? Cockatrices? And she lives right near them??"
"Yeah, but it don't matter," said Apple Bloom. "They never leave the forest, so Fluttershy's never in much danger. Neither is Ponyville, for that matter."
"Well, that's a relief to hear, at least."
"Speaking of Ponyville, here it comes!" said Scootaloo, pointing forward. Over the next rise, I saw the entrance of Ponyville. From what I could see, it was quaint without being too small, with many white, thatched roof buildings. It had one enormous building standing like a tower above them all, and several other

An Apple Family Welcome
Sweet Apple Acres, without being extravagant, was humble and well-to-do. It had the most enormous apple orchard I had ever seen, stretching as far as the eye could see, and a good many of the trees had large, juicy apples weighing down their branches. Just the smell of them from afar was intoxicating, and keep in mind that we dragons have somewhat heightened senses of smell. It also had fields for other vegetables, a big barn, and a farmhouse, the entirety of the establishment bordered off with a white picket fence. Hard to believe I would start my stay by crash-landing into the home of the best apple farmers in Equestria, in my opinion.
So, to my everlasting bewilderment, given how things had turned out so far, I found myself seated, fork and knife in paw, at a kitchen table inside the Sweet Apple Acres farmhouse, with the Cutie Mark Crusaders seated on both sides of me, Applejack on Apple Bloom's other side, and the other spots occupied by two more p

"Mom? Pop? I'm home!"
"Oh! Draco, dear, you're early!" Mom came out from behind a stack of books she had piled for shelving. She was light-brown and somewhat stout, with a gray mane that was long in the back, and green eyes behind lighter green-framed spectacles. Her cutie mark was a book with its cover facing forward. "Nothing wrong, I hope?"
"Not anymore, Mom. Where's Dad? He needs to hear this too."
"He's grabbing a coffee. He should be here soon." Our bookstore had recently become neighbors with a recent addition to Canterlot's foremost coffee house chain, and so far, it was doing wonders for business. Ponies could grab a coffee, then come over to the bookstore to sit and read while they drank.
Sure enough, a few moments later, the jingle of the door bell told us Dad had come back. He was carrying his Styrofoam cup of coffee in a side pocket of his weather-beaten saddlebags. Dad was a darker brown than Mom, with an iron-gray mane, tail, and moustach
