Day 7 of 365. I'm actually quite proud of this one (finally!)
I FINALLY got to a Hobby Lobby and bought myself a new knife and blades. It felt soooooo good getting back into the paper-cutting method. I've missed it so! Expect more of these for my 365, I've got a few more ideas for it.
With this one, I wanted to play with positive and negative space as well as background/foreground. it's my first cut paper design where the figure is LIGHTER than the background.
Little elven magic to be carried around in the pocket. It's a 2.5cm high notebook, in hard covers and silver paint gilding. There's 24 blank, mint tea dyed pages inside, for you to write on.. Stone is made of PVA
For the journal block I used 80g white paper and I treated the edges for older look. The sewing of the journal block was made by hand and for fore pages I used red silk paper.
I made the cover using genuine leather, tooled by hand. I had colored the leather to look old and aged by hand, All the procedures were traditional. For the brass looking parts I used leather that was colored to look like brass. The latches are made from parts recovered from a bracelet purchased from flea market. The result is what you see, a beautiful book with an antique style.
What mysteries lay hidden in the secret garden? Life the red velvet cover of this beautiful book to find out! Mary Lennox and her feathered companion wait to show you. An illustration from the book has been colored by hand. Leaves and flowers, made from the book's pages and painted, surround the illustration

A unique journal made with recycled cardboard and plastic found objects.
This journal is 4" by 4" and filled with unlined acid free paper and bound with satin ribbon. These small, pocket sized journals are perfect for traveling; useful for small sketches, writing down your thoughts or grocery list, or they even work well as a pocket sized traveler's memento book.
I tried making a book to resemble those old books from the movies or stories...don't know will everyone get what I mean by this, but hopefully most of you will.
Anyhow, it's 1.5 cm or 0.59 inch high (lately, someone criticized me for not giving size in inches too, so from now on, I will).
It contains 16 blank, Earl Grey tea dyed pages and is covered in leather. Stone is a mix of plastic and PVA (mixing process for this is my own invention ) and the gilding is done in my old way too.
Intentionally, leather looks rough (as used for many ages), but it resulted with incapability to photograph it without a "shine" on main photo. I gave up after some twenty tries and this is the best I could, for now. Hope you can see how it really looks from smaller photos.

As the title suggest, a book bound in dragon skin... Well, faux dragon skin... Well, handmade faux dragon skin, made by me (of course ). I found a new way to make this and even this book is too small to show how it really looks and feels very realistic on larger surfaces. What's most important, a friend to who this book was sent as a birthday present likes it ^^
Of course, since this books is made of dragon skin, it is only appropriate for it to be singed by their fire, as well. The best example of this can be seen on the top photo, but the covers received their part of burning, which can be seen much clearer in reality than in photos, sadly.
Anyway, in rush over sending the package, I forgot to measure the book once again If I remember correctly, it should be some 1 cm in height (0.39 inch) - it looks bigger on photos than it really is The gem is petrified dragon blood...well faux one...well, handmade faux dragon blood (and guess who made that... )
I'm sorry you can't see the back cover, it has some faint gilding, which can be partially seen in lower left corner photo...I also didn't made video this time, or photographed inner pages (there's crimson endpapers and mint tea dyed papers inside), as first page contains the dedication to my friend, which is personal.
