Skin Deep Page 3The Second Attempt
Doctor Hugo Raines arrived at my office rather late and consulted with me urgently. Since I knew about the girls, I was prepared to discuss with him about the second option more scientifically. But I insisted that we check thoroughly at least once.
"Hugo, it seems that something-perhaps alien-is interfering with the mitosis."
"So it would seem."
"We should eliminate that before we do anything further."
"Yes, of course. Let us proceed."
We started the procedure by examining the skin sample under an electron microscope as a more in-depth study of the structure was needed. My hypothesis was that something very microscopic and alien had entered Sophie's skin at cellular level and disturbed the process. We aimed the lens at the epidermis and attempted to probe deep underneath; but I was not totally sure it would disclose anything. Any interruption may be at submicroscopic level.
We continued to observe the structure and the cells and probe for signs. We probed every layer

The rain fell in a torrent tonight
We lay in bed and listened
The voice of the rain was soft and low
It nearly lulled us to sleep
We turned to gaze at each other
She smiled and whispered to me
I reached over to embrace her
Safe and sound she was in my arms♥
The rain may fall for one hour
It may fall all night long
It may not stop until morning
We neither know nor care
There is always one another
~~~Let the rain pour down~~~♥
Lying upon my bed of cotton
The one I loved gone, but not forgotten
Still my heart remembers and adores
I speak her name time and again
I try to rest and forget my pain
But that familiar voice cries "Never more!"
High upon my doorstep, sitting
Still as that bust of Pallas, never flitting
The raven watches and waits for me to die
It follows my hand as i attempt to write
It follows me to my bed in the night
I cannot ignore it, though I try
My heart and mind are consumed by worry
Still I hear that wnged fury
It remains in my chambers 7 X 24
"Get you gone, you winged devil!
No longer fill my life with your evil!
Leave me alone with her who I adore!"
But the raven still is sitting, still is sitting
Upon that bust of Pallas on my chamber door
Still that awful voice is creaking
Still that awful voice is shrieking
Those two words I have heard so oft before:
On Light and Darkness
Your parents used to warn you
'Do not fear the darkness'
A flip of your room light revealed nothing
Yet you continued to be scared
You surely knew better--did you not?
My race fears the light
Then keep it off the next time you enter
You will get your lifetime chance
To meet me
Before you die
The autumnal wind howls in the grove;
The moon is high.
There is a tiding of a new monsoon;
Dark clouds gather in the sky.
All is dark and gloom
That meets my eye.
But within my room, I sit in peace;
And I contemplate the news.
October 5th is a day of mirth.
I wish the same for you.
Beware the storm, if it blows your way;
I am confident that you'll know what to do.
Enjoy the day, when it comes;
Then contemplate your life, when it is through.
Around me, so much confusion
Outdoors, but indoors too
Things happen that I cannot resolve
But whenever the storm blows hard
I head straight away for the 'eye'
She is there, waiting, and I grow calm
We lie down together and embrace
She knows that I am never upset with her
Always patient and innocent
She reminds me that I must be too
Then I am
Love needs calm and peace
That is always her message to me
Their open mouths suck out my soul
As their eyes gape ignorantly ahead
I come forward to challenge their point of view
They cannot follow me
Every age and every faith
'Just gets twisted round some other way'
Only those like me can ever know
What the founders really said
'Temples should be houses of prayer'
Not for the likes of what I see
My eyes may no longer open
To behold the truth when it dawns
What would a story be?
If there was no one there to read it.
What would dreams be?
If there was no one there to conceive it.
What would a picture be?
If there was no one there to see it.
What would a secret be?
If there was no one there to keep it.
What would love be?
If there was no one there to feel it.
What would a song be?
If there was no one there to sing it.
What would the truth be?
If there was no one there to admit it.
What would advice be?
If there was no one there to give it.
What would life be?
If there was no one there to live it.
Hey! Will you look at my photo?
You will see the shine in my eyes.
Look deep inside and you will know,
That I care about you till I die.
Although I don't know why.
After all you put me through,
It is true,
I am only human.
Hey! Will you lean over and kiss my cheek?
You will make the smile I need to wear.
Look into my eyes, you will see
It is true how much I care.
Even when you are not there.
After all you put me through,
It is true,
I am only human.
To just disappear.
You wouldn't know,
If you just weren't here.
There is no feeling,
Because you can't feel.
You can't interpret.
You just aren't real.
It's so lonely here,
Where you used to be.
I look around,
But it's only me.
I wish you'd return.
But your hatred,
I always seem to spurn.
That's why I did it.
I made things this way.
You know that I had to.
What else can I say?
I really do miss you.
It's so lonely here,
But your wrath,
I really do fear.
Is there a balance.
Maybe I'll ask.
Finding the sweet spot,
Will be quite a task.
If we can be happy,
Just me and you.
There isn't anything,
I wouldn't do.
The night sky was ready to pour down rain
Till the clouds parted and the air got dry
I was expecting a shower, to lie in my bed
And spend the night with my lover
----I will, despite the change
It is her reward for her quiet patience
She looks up at me with a twinkling eye
Ne'er an angry or unhappy word is said
Only her call to me: "Beloved!"
[everyone knows what happens next]
The Blindfold GirlOnce there was a child of the lightThe Blindfold Girl5 months ago in Free Verse More Like This
With eyes that shone like the sun
One day she claimed to see people’s souls
Fearing their child’s sanity
The parents blind folded her
Convincing others that she was born blind
When she was old enough
They enrolled her into a special school
The children teased her
Saying ‘Poor little blind girl’
She wept for their lost souls
Curiosity took hold of a boy
He ripped away the blindfold
Falling to the ground dead
For he couldn’t behold her light
It was too pure for his blacken soul
With one hand she covered his eyes
Crying out in a loud voice
‘Bring him back, it wasn’t his fault’
A light surround the body
And the boy opened his eyes
There was no darkness to see
Only light reflecting outward
Shining with redeeming grace
Both are now children of the light
Saving the lost and destroying the dark
Restoring other souls to the light
They wanted a no hoper.
Someone they could fold and mould to their liking
And with him being a self perpetuating loner.
The situation seemed too compellingly inviting.
They took advantage of his good nature.
They kept adding to his already overflowing plate
And they were not the type to ever return the favour.
He saw this transaction as a contraction of them becoming mates.
They would lie to his face and talk behind his back.
Setting him tedious tasks that were initially refused by others.
This then artfully allowed them to dart off track and slack.
Why is it that the insecure and pure are the ones that suffer?
And when he was no longer able to endure.
He was ripped out and shipped out immediately.
By a surplus of others who are willing to take up his chores.
This is a practice that is predestined to be replayed repeatedly.
That I refuse to sell
But I’ll share with you
For the price of
That hearing crap
Won’t do here
Buys that at full price
I’m going to marry a poet,
One with a quiet voice,
The flavor of happiness
In his every breath.
I’d like to get drunk off
Of kisses like that.
But ideal love
Doesn’t exist without reason
Much like a cricket
Can’t help but to make a sound
Since it loves its silence alive,
Rather than dead.
Of jumping onto scales
And seeing how much I weigh
For the things I possess
Instead of solely
Measuring my heart.
Is it so bad
To crave the title
We live in a free country
We all have the right to choose
Nobody has the right to bully
Or make anyone sing the blues
You may be straight, you may be gay
You may be AC-DC
But you choose your way
It makes no difference to me
This is a free world
No matter, guy or girl
All the labels they use are only words
I won't make you sing the blues
For the partner that you choose
Doing that is just too absurd
Leave them alone
Look the other way
Or just go home
Protect me from myself,
I'm the biggest threat.
Research and re-emerge when you have found the answer.
Correct and perfect your craft and become your own master.
Refine your design until it cannot be further enhanced.
Instead of waiting, why not try creating your own chance?
Have the nerve to capture what you so rightly deserve.
Duly take heed but never concede to what you have heard.
Manually harness the tenacity to exceed your limited capacity.
Recognize that progress can either happen instantly or gradually.
Stay humble but don’t let it crumble when things start looking up.
Because those in a position of power are also known to be corrupt.
Remain independent; refrain from complying and relying on others.
But understand that those conceited people also needed loving mothers.
Polish and accomplish your dreams and visualise them into this reality.
Remember that failing is nothing but one of life’s constructive formalities.
So be confident go and see the things you have always wanted to see.
Allow yourself time
Your loneliness has spread to your eyes,
It has now become a part of who you are.
You can no longer keep contract of your own lies.
Everyone else but you can see that this has gone too far.
Your expressions and body language have become bionic.
It’s almost like the lights are on but the room has been ransacked.
What is ironic is that you try so hard to subtly avoid the topic.
I choose and use my words carefully because I know how you will react.
There is only so much I can say or do; the rest is solely up to you.
Only you can dispose of the trespasser that lies underneath.
If you only knew the trials you have unintentionally put me through.
Maybe then you will shed your grief and embark onto a new leaf.
I hope you take my sincere concerns on board.
Because time is one thing none of us can afford
To squander and wonder our lives away.
Be true to yourself.
Little one, monsters do not sleep under your bed.
They prefer to procure the space inside your head.
And all those white lies your mother told you
Are from made up fairy tales she once read.
When you woke up and begged for her presence.
Shaking, snivelling and waiting for her to console you.
You never had the need to perform any form of penance.
As she would make them vanish by only uttering a sentence.
All those proverbs and warm words your mother sold you,
Are there to assure you when she is not able to watch over.
But no amount of prayers, dream catchers and four leaf clovers.
Can protect you from what prowls directly above your shoulders.
And all those white lies your mother told you.
Shaking, snivelling and waiting for her to console you.
All those proverbs and warm words your mother sold you.
Will not help when the demons decide to take a hold of you.
I memorised all the words, even used to sing along.
You used to be my melody, now your just my noise.
Your tune brought me comfort, now it annoys and destroys.
I can't seem to drown you out, no matter how soft you sound.
I hear you more often than I'd like, some nights I feel you're around.
You were something to remember, a beautiful little tune.
I just hope to hear a sweet melody, that surpasses yours soon.
Your song makes me sad, I don't want to hear it again.
It hurts to hear it unwillingly, it brings back all of the pain.
I have my own harmony, a haunting song in my head.
With all my thoughts as lyrics, the words I never said.
I’d rather believe in something,
Rather than to believe in nothing.
Because to believe in nothing implies there is no purpose.
It implies that there is nothing below or above the earth’s surface.
It suggests that there is no advanced assistance and that our existence
Can be revoked in an instant, despite our apparent spiritual commitments.
It would mean that mankind will not be punished for all their wrong doings.
And that living a good honest life will not grant you a shoe in
To something that is not indefinitely there
And that it was us who made this world unfair.
But if you believe there is something greater in place
And that this something does not have a form, figure or face.
From this something we gain a feeling that cannot be described
And although countless cynics have allied, defied and tried.
They have dedicated their entire lives to proving there is no evidence.
Because disproving that something is the only thing of any relevance.
What if confirming its p
