I just had to show you his cute little bum and long tail. :P

Don't be fooled by his cuteness.

These mice, named Squ33x, are to be used as spy devices. Their large concave ears capture all sound in the area they are placed in and their six long whiskers act as antennae to deliver the sound signals back to base...

In all actuality, though - he is pretty darn cute. He has large domed ears, goggles, long wire whiskers, curvy coiled wire tail, and a little brass wind-up mechanism (please do not try to turn it).

Although this creature looks to be made from metal, it is not - it is completely hand-sculpted from polymer clay with the addition of a few metal findings. This piece has been glazed with a satin finish for a slight sheen and durability.

"A mechanical wonder. Wrought of the purest gold and finest jewels..."

This mechanical birdie was created for the La Jolla Playhouse to be used as a prop in one of their plays - The Nightingale. He's definitely a very dramatic birdie - just look at those flourishing feathers near his eyes!

Although this creature looks to be made from metal, he is not - he is completely handsculpted from polymer clay with the addition of a few metal findings and coiled wire legs. This piece has been glazed with a satin finish for a slight sheen and durability.

This photo amuses me - it had to be shared. Ultra closeup!

This is the twenty-first MechOwlie that I have created, and he has been named Higgs. He is silver and blue in appearance with three little ballpin feathers on his head.

Here is a little note from the lady I made it for:

"His name will be Higgs, reference to the same elusive particle (and what you get for marrying an astrophysicist ;)"

This is the twenty-third MechOwlie that I have created, and he has been named Morpheus. He is a mossy green in colour with hints of bright silver throughout. He has a little clock on his tummy and little silver ballpin feathers near his eyes.

This heart is a remake, and is based off the 82nd piece in my Industrial Heart collection, entitled, Barbed Rosette.

Barbed Rosette quickly became one of my most popular industrial hearts after it was first created more than two years ago. I thought it was about time that I released a new photo of how it came to look after so many years of creating it. It is now one of the few standard designs that I offer in my shop on a regular basis. In popularity, it is most the most popular industrial heart that I offer, beating Fabricated Heartbeat.

Each of my Industrial Hearts starts with an anatomically correct human heart made from polymer clay - the base. With all of the components of a real human heart, it has also been made to look metallic and Industrial with its panelling and rivets. Gears, metal findings, and other various things are also added.

The entire piece is about 1 1/2" tall and is antiqued with black acrylics and then finished with a satin glaze for a slight metal sheen. It has a loop in the top that is attached to a keyring style jumpring and is strung on an 18" silver tone link chain with lobster clasp.

This is the 131st piece in my Industrial Heart collection, entitled, Maritime.

Each of my Industrial Hearts starts with an anatomically correct human heart made from polymer clay - the base. Here is a little bit of the story behind the person who requested the heart:

"As a midshipman at the Naval Academy I'd very much like to discuss commissioning a custom piece with a Navy theme to it. The rope can bind the heart in some fashion, kind of to symbolize what sailors have given up for their service: their families, the freedom as normal citizens."

This would be considered my 24th MechOwlie, however it is quite separate from the rest of them. It definitely has a different look!

I was approached by a company that was looking for a "whimsical steampunk" theme for Toyota's "Free Yr Radio", and they were interested in a few of my sculptures. After a little bit of talk, it was finalized that I would make them two sculptures - one based off my MechOwlie designs, and one based off of my Squid and Jellyfish designs.

Freelance Project #1 - The MechOwlie is a little bit bigger than the other ones I have made, namely because I wanted to get as much detail on there as I could. They had requested a few particular details such as a mustache, tophat, gear innards, armoured tummy, etc.

At first, I wasn't sure about the mustache - but I think it suits him. Personally, I am not a "lets-put-mustaches-on-stuff" kind of girl, but it was a small compromise I was willing to make. I nicknamed him Sir Topham Hatt. Yes - I watched too much Thomas the Tank Engine as a kid. :XD:

So what's in store for Sir Topham Hatt? Well, he is going to be featured on an eight foot backdrop for a stage. Bands will feel the overbearing presence of a giant MechOwlie behind them! :D It will also be part of the layout on the Free Yr Radio website and used in other media.

I sent the originals to the company, and I got an e-mail back saying that there was serious talk of an arm wrestle between the company and their client, Toyota, to see who gets to keep them. Bahahaha! I definitely got a kick out of that.

Although this creature looks to be made from metal, he is not - he is completely handsculpted from polymer clay with the addition of a few metal findings. This piece has been glazed with a satin finish for a slight sheen and durability.

In a world in which the aquatic creatures of the oceans have seemingly disappeared, a new specimen has emerged from the unknown depths of these deep dark waters - the mechanical jellyfish.

No longer do these creatures drift along with no brains, carried along with the currents of the water - they have all-seeing LED eyes, panelled and riveted head caps, and have a tendency to make an electrifying presence with the powerful electricity that surrounds them and radiates from their tentacles.

This lovely and wondrous specimen is created out of polymer clay and finished to look like worn steel. He has two big LED eyes (which come in red, orange, yellow, green, or blue - YOU choose!), panels, rivets, patches, and is finished with a polyurethane glaze. His tentacles are made from a vast aray of wires and chain such as black mechanics wire, stainless steel wire, hand-coiled galvanized steel wire, silver plated ballchain, and antique brass link chain.

The head of this creature is fully solid, but the tentacles are free to move, dangle, and tangle with eachother. It makes a great necklace, as the chain hangs gracefully down the collarbone. Great for any aquatic creature admirer or steampunk and sci-fi enthusiast!
