My Hourglass FigureUnsure and stuttering
you ask me
ask for everything
ask for too much
I refuse to take your pleas
to look at those desperate eyes
overflowing with pent up emotion
Leave me be
watch your reflection bounce back at you from cold glass
I have no time left to give
that's what you want, isn't it?
time, time, time
The sand in my hollow body has just about run out
leaving me empty
with false hopes that I might be turned over
giving me a few more hours on the clock
I used to be a work of art
now only cracked glass
wishing less life was wasted clinging to falling sand
I can give you other chances
if you help me
Fill my cracks with sincerity
repaint my chipped edges with bright smiles
I have yet to be fixed but I know it's possible
only then can I give you the time you seek
I Am AddictionI’m past it,I Am Addiction2 years ago in Free Verse More Like This
Don’t need it,
Don’t want it,
But what am I without it?
It’s still part of me,
Tattooed for all to see;
Little lines of pain,
Worming into my brain.
My only friend,
Will be my sweet end.
I need definition,
What makes me myself?
I want to be put on a shelf;
Just define me by my actions,
My scars, my abstractions.
Show me who I am,
Who you want me to be,
My old comfort,
My old joy,
Red itching scratch,
And the sentiment I attach,
Dragging me down
And making me fly;
Making me laugh
And making me cry.
Is it addiction?
Is it compulsion?
Is it wrong?
I know it’s not right,
But if I ended it tonight,
Would it really matter?
I’ll never be past it,
Always need it,
Always want it,
Because what am I without it?
DreamThere he stands,Dream2 years ago in Free Verse More Like This
The man simply known as Dream.
He's different now, fallen from grace,
And risen back up to it.
He was a joyous man, but he was beaten,
Torn and scarred, starved and tormented.
How did he get past it all they question me.
I know the answer, only because I asked him myself.
This is what he said to me,
"You can only be broken so much,
Eventually they stop trying,
Then you take every scar,
Every fracture and shattered piece,
And turn them into strengths and advantages.
Since they can't hurt you anymore,
You have nothing left to fear."
He turned his tortured soul into flawlessness.
That is who he is now, a happy wounded soul,
A perfect little broken Dream.

Helped me to believe in myself
You say things to me
That no one ever has
I will always Love you
Through the worse times and the best
Cause my love it is very true
That you will always have a place within my Heart
The VowsThe Vows2 years ago in Free Verse More Like This
We stood at the altar
In the fresh aesthetics of spring
You took my hand in yours
And slid on that fateful ring
I wore a fair dress
Clothed in a flurry of white
The poison smile
On my wedding, the only blight
So beautiful it was
My dress stained red
Our passion unbidden
I took off your head
We promised love
Till death do us part
And it shall
For your head, take my heart
My dear, my darling
Forget me not
Honor our righteous vows
And love me till I rot
We vowed forever
Let my love
Bury us together

Let go of your world and be free within mine.
Let me sip nectar no flower dare drip.
Let us discover each other as the ultimate trip.
Let no one dare speak of what limits exist.
Let all that we do become such a sweet tryst.
Let I be the paramour you privately yearn.
Let you be the one who makes my passions burn.
Let all that we wish be allowed just to be.
Let nothing destroy this great bond that is we.

What defines your basic human needs, your average quantity of normal?
What potions spill your nothingness,
What skin builds up your exterior?
What makes you rise up in the morning?
What tears you open in the night?
What secrets, promises and wishes compose your inside fright?
What dance do you dance when others tremble,
Under your disillusioned romance?
What tongue do you speak in your steady sleep,
What habits do you have warped around our toes?
What makes you smile and quiver and tremor, all at once?
What reality do you pursue, if it's a reality at all?
What dreams do you dream when you're not even seen?
What might you be, or where or whom?
Where we you born, and were you're from,
Are all inadequate for me,
What and who and whom and whose
For the slightest of intrigue
For I may be a dreamer,
But I know I'm not alone,
And you might be a mortal,
We all die when they are bored.
The gods of lost and fate and pain, still shape our natural decay
And you shall fall,
Live Through WordsA poet is a strange person,Live Through Words5 years ago in Open More Like This
They live through words,
Words of love and fire,
Words of pain and tears.
You won't find them with your eyes
You have to use your ears.
They may be quiet, they may whisper.
They may be loud and raucous.
But if they truly are
A poet, they all have
Important to say.
They are a morbid collection
A collection of bleeding hearts,
The saddest flower of all.
So often passed by.
They gather in the shadows,
Won't you take them home?
The rejected ones,
With an archaic pastime.
We are the lost love language,
With our words on fire.
We are still here,
And we have more to say.
More to say than flowers,
More to say than chocolates,
More to say than hugs or kisses,
When we say, "I love you,"
It means more,
Live through words.

So she closed her eyes and her demon lover hungered long..

Something new to what we know
A world filled with secrecy to make it so
Mystery is the puzzle before the answer becomes clear
The silent riddle to discover
A hidden message to uncover
Mystery is words we hide to keep oneself unique
Those whispered words that no one hears
The fear of not knowing reappears
Mystery is what keeps us intrigued
The enigma itself remains in you
as it does in me
Stay this way... Stay unique
As this way there will always be something new to know
Even as we speak...

the flash floods may yet pass them by.
The Art Of Falling ApartIf falling apartThe Art Of Falling Apart2 years ago in Concrete Poetry More Like This
Was a type of art
You'd be the Picasso of all pain
Beats the finest tapestry
Woven from a raging flame
The tears that you cry
Outshine each star in the sky
And the blood that runs through your veins
More red than the most brilliant rose
It runs from your head to your toes
You have scars where your skin met the edge of a blade
But like words in a book
They need not be overlooked
They tell a story in a way of their own
All the blood that you shed
All the times you wished you were dead
They speak of despair and they speak of sorrow
So now you've mastered the art
Of falling apart
Now you're a canvas of black and blue
Using a blade for a brush
And for one final touch
I'll put a stroke of love in you
Sonnet XXIWho can bemoan these barren, bitter daysSonnet XXI2 years ago in Traditional Fixed Forms More Like This
When he who loved once spoke and heard her vows
Which were but words upon which passion preys
Until the breast from a dream does arouse.
And tacit, tamed truth sends forth honest odds,
Still he uncovers that twinge trickle spring,
Still she does worship her twice fallen Gods
To find tonic herbs in winged Cupid's sting.
How trite, how vain my liege it is to keep
High pearls of eyes bereft the sheen of cheer
In dungeons deep, or thorny towers steep
On lambent clouds that rove the drifting sphere?
For rue remembers joys, charms, bonds of air
And forgets years of mirth once lay elsewhere.

I used to smile, I used to sing
I used to be so very happy

And then you trapped me
The piece of paper
On the table
A little story
Of a traitor
On the purest heart
To lie about
I was the paper
You were the words
You violate me
So I got lost
I am the memory
You are the ghost
I won't be treasuring
You inked the paper
You inked my soul
It won't get better
It won't let go
They will retell this story
The piece of paper gonna burn to ash
And we will shine in endless glory
But it will never heal this painful gash

I could do this for another second, another minute, another hour.
Oh what creativity in this cortex that blossoms like the simple flower,
How these intricate rhymes of innocent words give my heart,
Such a pounding energy of pride to recycle my writer's power.
Sense no blindness when I am wide awake and full of desire,
I could do this for another day, another week, another year.
Oh what brilliance in this brain that emotes like the complex tear,
How those delicate rhythms of distant beats give my soul,
Such a resounding spark of arrogance to rekindle my writer's fear.

Your incessant talking interrupts my thoughts
wearing down on my paper thin tolerance
Trying to stuff the void I left open
the quiet I hung there ripped down
torn up by your noisy complaints
My vocal cords are rubbed raw
by words waiting to be said
stuck in my throat
they can't be pushed down
but can't be forced out, just yet
Allow me to go back to my unforgiving memories
silent betrayers of my tired mind
unkept tendrils of forgotten knowledge
brimming over the sides if my head
pouring onto ungrateful lips
Can we keep it quiet
even just for a little while

The Wishing TreeTraveling along a concrete roadThe Wishing Tree2 years ago in Free Verse More Like This
until the pavement turned to grass
and the grass turned to dirt.
Just when the land turned barren and bland
an abandoned park stood rusty and proud.
Little Jessica walked along that dirt path
not minding the hot sun
or how her backpack got heavier with every step.
When she finally reached
that abandoned park
Little Jessica played in the slide
and swung on the swings
that creaked with every rock.
She bored soon and left
that barren park
going to the one sign of life
A sorrowful tree, with no leaves left
stood near that abandoned park.
Little Jessica, feet scuffing the dirt
went to this poor alone tree.
From her backpack, Little Jessica
pulled paper upon paper out.
With bits of string and tiny fingers
Little Jessica attached every single strip of paper
to the branches of that leafless tree
as high and far as she could reach
until the dry branches could no longer be seen.
When she was done
Little Jessica surveyed her work,
proud of the job

Time, so like a river, flows.
In and out and all around,
Flying fast without a sound.
Rain falls swift and seasons change.
At moonrise the oceans rage.
Waves crash forward then fall back,
Never ceasing their attack.
Darkness swarms from each direction,
Smothering such insurrection,
Calming what has spurned the storm;
Trading peace for the unbalanced norm.
Slowly quiet fills the scene.
Veteran tides begin to gleam.
Night gives way to the morning light;
Pastel skies are a welcome sight.
Weary soldiers ebb and flow,
No other beach for them to go.
The battle fought, the war begun,
They rest there, silent, in the sun.

Love Has ExpiredI never thought I’d see the day where it happenedLove Has Expired2 years ago in Songs & Lyrics More Like This
The world should just look away in shame
They always make it sound like love makes the world go round
But they know that it’s already expired
So why do they keep trying to look for me?
This world is filled with so many liars that it’s simply unreal
But nobody cares that most of them get into power
And people only care if they take away their rights
Or if they take away something that they either need or want
That’s what the world is always like
I’m surprised that it took this long to see the truth
That the feeling love has expired by the time you’re in your teens
You think that you know what love feels like
But only because you’re getting what you want
And most of the time all you simply want is to have sex
Unleashing you into the world that is filled with desire
I bet that a lot of fathers are worried about their daughters these days
Since rape is so popular amongst the greedy bastards out ther
