She watches the moon rise and dreams of her life
to breathe again and to speak
though her tongue now cannot hold a word
Her baby cradled in her arms
a mix of Colors though she was born pale
Her husband who she loved dear
had sent her away
instead of going home to her beloved mother
she dissapeared forever.
She was unwanted she was cursed.
Her husband found a letter
His mother was a slave
he was not white he was mixed
he killed his wife and his only son
he killed Desiree and his only son
Desiree and her baby drowned in the swamp.
And here in the swamp her ghostly figure
stands holding her dead baby
Forever unwanted
forever cursed.
