4 days of intense work... fixing... trying... and and and... i really like what comes out. again i combined several terragen renderings... 3 this time. one for the background, one as the main picture and one for the water. and fixed them up so that everything was fitting in. as you can imagine... the most work was done in photoshop. used some of my skills to enhance shadows... water... textures all that stuff.
like one of my earlier works (coast of enedwaith [link] ) - which was very successful (thx again for the amazing feedback <img src="[link] align="middle" alt=" (Smile)" title=" (Smile)" border="0" /> ) - this one is also based on the lord of the rings and its beautiful landscapes. that are just some expressions how i imagine some places in middleearth... what you see here is the coast of belfalas. behind these cliffs and mountains lies gondor... the land of the man, the only hope of middleearth in the war against sauron... <img src="[link] align="middle" alt=" (Smile)" title=" (Smile)" border="0" /> .
i really hope you'll like it... <img src=" [link] align="middle" alt=" (Smile)" title=" (Smile)" border="0" />

I love the map of Middle Earth that was used for the Lord of the Rings movie trilogy. It has that nice, ancient feel and yet is extremely readable. When looking for maps to use for Celtic things, I'm constantly looking for things that look like this map.
There's a great hi-res version of the map that is floating around the internet. In my searches I discovered that the artist responsible for the map is Daniel Reeve [link] .
I thought the map would be great as a wallpaper for my widescreen computer. But some editing needed to be done since the original was square. I wanted to keep the border that the original artist used, but now it cuts off on the sides so anyone who reads elvish will notice that it is messed up that way. I also wanted to avoid cutting off any words or objects on the top, bottom or either side. To do this I squished the map in a bit and had to remove wording and some things to make it work. I'm actually pretty happy with the way it turned out, and put enough work into editing the original piece that I feel comfortable putting this up as a wallpaper here.
Just to be clear, though. The art is not my own in any way. Rather I have just taken an incredible piece of art by Daniel Reeve that was commissioned and used for the Lord of the Rings movie trilogy, and edited it down to fit a widescreen computer.
