Do it your self guide for ApophysisLately I have been getting a lot of questions on how I make my images. So I have decided to put together a little article to help people get started with apophysis. I am linking tutorials that I know can help produce quality results I am not intending to take credit for any of these tutorials I am just sharing the resources.Do it your self guide for Apophysis5 years ago in Art Features More Like This
1.What is apophysis? Its a free program used to create digital images based on mathematical equations. Don't worry the program does most of the work. A more basic way of looking at it would be you start with a single point and then add to it in different directions until you have an image.
Here Are a couple examples of what you could create using this program as you can see you add a lot of points to come up with a finished product. You can also see that the possibilities are virtually endless.
2.Where do I get Apophysis? The final version of Apophysis can be found here.

Light has challenged Chiara with this one: and I think it's a great idea! It's not like the usual parameter pongs, but a co-operation between two artists with different styles, where the result shows off each artist's style. Just imagine Leichenengel's colourful psychedelic style with :devjimpan73: metallic spirals and shiny gems. Or LeonieZurakowsky's colourful plastic mandelbulb shapes with kr0mat1k's quirky metallic bul
Have you heard about .....Several weeks ago, in my daily effort to view all the daily submissions from the many Groups and individuals I watch, I started to notice more and more frequently that some of the Fractals I was viewing were being created using this new program. First it was just a few a day, then suddenly I was seeing dozens of Flames being created with JWildFire! Curios about this newcomer to the Fractal Scene I went to the website and discovered that the software is designed to run using Java and will run on multiple Platforms.Have you heard about .....3 years ago in Personal More Like This
So, I with to the developers da page and told him that I had created a folder in Xtreme Fractals for the software! http://xtremefractals.deviantart.com/gallery/34103672 I also grabbed a snippet of information about the software to put on the left info panel of the folder. Since then the developer, thargor6 has joined our Group and he and I have had several discussions about his program! What follows is a result of those discussion. Here's Andreas aka - Thagor6

I hope it will see all of the authors within get the recognition they deserve and make their soon to be fans hunger for more from them. You guys may not become famous overnight. It'snot going to make you the next king right away. But you shouldn't want that anyway. Each of the voices in this anthology were unique in their own right and deserving of much respect. Mandelbulb 3D Art in Short FilmQuite some time ago (9-8-2011) I was contacted along with other Mandelbulb 3D artists at Fractal Forums and DeviantArt and was asked for permission to use some of our work in a short, independent Science Fiction film. The production group is called We Were Monkeys and they were putting together the film for the Sitges Film Festival in Spain that October. They said that things went really well for them at the festival but they were making some revisions to the film before posting it online.Mandelbulb 3D Art in Short Film2 years ago in Personal More Like This
A few days ago they contacted those involved with the film and let us know that it is finally now available for viewing. It is titled OVO . It's quite interesting with well done effects. It's made with English sub-titles but spoken in Spanish(?). All of the MB3D artists got a screen credit at the end, so that was cool! Other MB3D artists include Jess

Major changes where made to the fractal flames generator T.I.N.A.::
- variation effect preview which can be turned on/off using a new button in the preview area. (This preview displays how the superimposition of all variations (of the currently selected transform) affects a rectangular grid of points. So it can be a great way of exploring what a certain variation actually does and how their parameters work.)
- minor improvements to the Flower3D and SubFlame random flame generators
- nBlur, linearT and linearT3D variations by FractalDesire
- post_zscale_wf and post_ztranslate_wf variations for better control of 3D fractals
- optimized coloring of the subflame_wf variation
- new exponent parameter for the spherical3d_wf variation
As usual click the "Random flames" button to start playing around and have fun
You can download the new version at the projects web page: http://www.andreas-maschke.com/?page_id=351

New fave feature - Photoshop CS6So how many people have installed Photoshop CS6 by now. It's only been about 5 days since it's available but I guess I'm anxious to hear from people who have installed it or If you waiting till the full version to come out, Kosher or Non Kosher. There's a comment on my last journal that says something like "I'm waiting to download the pirated version. I am not naive and I know many, many people are going to do the same, but that's not relevant to this journal entry. Personally I like it very much. I've been fooling around with 3D x64. The color takes getting used to. from grey to blue to dark. (there is a light skin for it). If you have installed CS6 already and you have some time please comment about your experience with it, being new and everything. Chaotica 0.48 for WindowsDownload for Windows 32/64bit: http://chaoticafractals.com/chaotica_0.48_win_noncommercial.zipChaotica 0.48 for Windows3 years ago in Personal More Like This
This release is mainly a bugfix release for the 0.47 beta, with many improvements to the user interface fixing issues such as the fractal not scaling when you changed resolution, imaging settings being spuriously reset and not saved properly etc. Hopefully it's a bit more friendly to use now It'll still crash if you try to restore state without having the original params loaded, that'll be fixed in the next release.
Another important change in this build is restored native support for bipolar, thanks to code Xyrus-02 provided from Apo7X15C beta 3. I'm hoping the small difference in handling the divide by zero and negative log etc will finally enable full compatibility - please test this and report if something looks wrong!
* Changed copyright to Glare Technologies Ltd.
* Added Glare Tech's Winter scripting language (not exposed yet)
* Added batch rendering
Apophysis 7X 15C - Hotfixes #8!To excuse myself from the artificial hoax from earlier, I have a hotfix release for 15C for you Here the changes:Apophysis 7X 15C - Hotfixes #8!3 years ago in Personal More Like This
+ Fixed two strings regarding the Chaotica integration. They were always english. The language files have been adjusted accordingly.
+ Fixed the "dot"-bug with the waves2-, noise- and crop-variations (and possibly more) occuring when you use multithreaded rendering. The origin was a structural misconception with the opacity handling. It now works smooth & fine! No corrupted renders in my own tests. If you have some after this release, please report!
+ Added file type registration scripts in the portable (ZIP)-package
Installer (32 bit)
Installer (64 bit)

Apophysis animation tutorial using apophymatorHello dellow feviants.... erm... fellow Deviants (Get out of here Jar Jar! )Apophysis animation tutorial using apophymator5 years ago in Personal More Like This
I was recently asked by a fellow youtuber to make a tutorial on how to make animations in apophysis using the apophymator script. What follows is copied verbatim, typos and all, from my message to said youtuber.
< copypasta >
You first need to get the apophymator script at http://drop.io/apophymator
unzip it into your scripts directory. If you do not have one, make one.
First thing you'll need to do is to create several "key frames". These are the frames that the script will morph from one key frame to the next. When making keyframes, make sure that they all have the same number of transforms (triangles) or the script most likely will crash.
Usually when I make my videos, I start with a flame I previously made that I think will make a good animation. I work backwords for a few frames (about 4 or 5ish) to twe
Mandelbulb 3D at DeviantArt and Thanks!Like so many I have become fascinated with Mandelbulb 3D. I use other fractal programs but put most of my time into exploring Mandelbulb 3D. ~You were on your way home when you died.
It was a car accident. Nothing particularly remarkable, but fatal nonetheless. You left behind a wife and two children. It was a painless death. The EMTs tried their best to save you, but to no avail. Your body was so utterly shattered you were better off, trust me.
And that's when you met me.
"What what happened?" You asked. "Where am I?"
"You died," I said, matter-of-factly. No point in mincing words.
"There was a a truck and it was skidding "
"Yup," I said.

Hello again everyone!
Recently, an awesome friend of mine, TimberClipse, posted a Journal about The Visual Narrative Project.
"Are you a writer? Screenwriter? Storyteller? This is YOUR opportunity to get your story made into a short film!"
What is The Visual Narrative Project?
The Visual Narrative Project is a project in which you submit a short story (2-15 pages) that can be adapted into a film! These will go to Zev (TimberClipse) and Meredith, two students at Bard College at Simon's Rock. These stories can be made by anyone of any age and from any location, so share with your friends and consider submitting!
When is the story due?

Mandelbulb 3D, my process. Over the last few months I have gotten a lot of questions on the process I use to create my images. It has only been about the last year that I feel I am really understanding Mandelbulb and creating more with purpose and not chance. However chance and luck does still come into the creation process. I view what we do as Mandelbulb artists a bit like exploring. I am an artist who has been making art for well over 40 years. All my years of painting and photography does play a roll in how I use Mandelbulb. This is not a tutorial but a look at how I create an image for those that are new to Mandelbulb 3D.Mandelbulb 3D, my process.11 months ago in Personal More Like This
