Even if the sun is not present any more in the sky, his lights reflect on the distant high altitude clouds, providing this very particular and enchanting lighting for a few instants. To complete the scene, the sky displays an interesting variety of colors from blue to orange going through cyan, pink and yellow. This photo was taken in the " Monts-Dore " mountains, France.

Taken on a moonless night, with a 30-second exposure @ f4, 17mm, ISO 1600, @ 10pm. Even thought the sun had set at 6:30pm that evening, the light followed the earth's curve reflecting off the ocean and with the naked eye the sunset could not still be seen, but the camera recorded it. Since there was no moon, there was little ambient natural light to illuminate the rocks, but this lighthouse has a red lens which overpowered what little light there was and imparted a red glow to the misty air and the rocks below. Thus I could get the red tint without using filters. I toned the red down a bit in post to reveal a bit more of the natural color of the rocks. Also nicely, since this is a long exposure the lighthouse light displays a hot-yellow glow instead of red, due to image burn.
