Hey there, my name is Anne—some people also call me CSS fairy - and I'm just a glitter spreading, CSS loving random person from Germany. DeviantART is part of my life since 9 years already. While I started with traditional and digital art, I am now doing kind of everything. I love baking, crafting (with plywood for example), designing and just giving new things a try in general. I am a communication designer, who just enjoys being creative in all ways possible.

Editing Rainmeter skins the nice wayEditing and creating Rainmeter skins can be a daunting task. You have to remember the names of lots of options and what values you can assign to them, you have to keep track of your variables, possibly distributed over multiple files, and between all that you have to make sure you get the syntax right. If you have been using the standard Windows Notepad to edit your skin files, it was probably a painful experience.Editing Rainmeter skins the nice way2 years ago in Personal More Like This
It does not have to be like this! There is a lot a good editor can do to make editing skins easier, so you can spend more time thinking about what your measures and meters should do, and less time thinking about wether it is called ValueReminder or ValueRemainder. In my opinion, Sublime Text 2 (www.sublimetext.com/ ) does the best job of this. It is a commercial editor that costs $70 but can be evaluated free of charge for an unlimited amount of time. The only drawback of

I'm in love with .. well love . I love my family, my friends, my colleagues, my adoring husband, my pets and .. well you get the point
Whether or not I've had a "Valentine" I've always been a fan of the day. Not the commercialization of the chocolate and the flowers (though I enjoy these things don't get me wrong ) but rather the idea of just spreading the love and hoping it continues throughout the year
I've spent a lot of time sending some Valentine's through our super fun Valentine Exchange Project and I've received a bunch as well Thank you to everyone who has sent me a Valentine's Card! I've made a collection of them because I adore them so much and they make me smile. Check some of them out:

CISPA is a bill simpler to SOPA that give the government the right to take your private information from any site on the internet and if after receiving this information they find anything they don't like they can convict for it. As for the people who handed over you're private information? Well because they handed it over they are immune to any possible legal issues that may pop up, for a more thorough explanation of CISPA see: http://youtu.be/UERicIJ2J5U (in short wile it PROBABLY won't cos your favourite site to

Sans serif — Italics & weights
In the previous article of the typography series I presented some of the basic principles of type design and we started designing a geometric sans typeface such as Futura. In this article we will expand that typeface and add italics and alternate weights. Or rather, I will show you how to design italics and briefly present how you can modify your regular weight typeface to create alternate weights rather than having to re-draw the whole letter.

When did we decide that......the best way to view a GUI is on an angle, mocked up on an iPhone screen, with epically shallow depth of field? When did we decide that...3 years ago in Personal More Like This
I don't care whether or not it's an app designed FOR the iPhone. If you take a photo of an iPhone on an angle with low DoF, absolutely ANYTHING will look good on it, even a pure white screen. I shit you not. The details and reflections in the phone's body make up at least 90% of the visual satisfaction, completely taking focus away from the actual GUI. "But it shows how it would look in the real world." No mate it doesn't. My human eyes don't have the DoF of an expensive Canon macro lens, nor do I use my phone holding it at a 45 degree angle, and sat in the middle of a professionally lit photography studio. When I buy food, I don't need to see a picture of somebody eating it.
On the flip side to making otherwise hideous designs look like the most amazing thing ever, a photo mock up also makes truly beautiful design look like crap. If you've spent days on end hammering away

deviantART Honors Spirit Day TweetdeviantART Honors Spirit Day5 years ago in DeviantArt Announcements More Like This
You might have noticed that deviantART is wearing purple today, as October 20, 2010 marks Spirit Day -- an event to honor teens who have lost their lives to anti-LGBT bullying.
While this specific type of bullying has received a lot of media attention as of late, we'd like to bring to light how bullying is a wide-spread problem that impacts everyone -- regardless of age, gender, sexual orientation, physical ability, ethnicity, race, or profession. And the recent surge of teen suicides associated with bullying can't be ignored or overlooked.
In honor of Spirit Day, deviantART CEO Angelo Sotira ($spyed) took a few minutes to address

We Give a F*** How the Site LoadsDevelopers can be angry people sometimes. This is actually quite the understatement and dt is no exception to that assessment. With web development in particular, there are several moments during the day where we are astounded, perplexed, and irritated by why something works the way it does--often over things beyond our control like lack of uniform web standards. Abe Stanway, the creator of Commit Logs from Last Night, actually gives a pretty compelling, and serious, Ignite talk on the functionality of profanity for developers here:We Give a F*** How the Site Loads2 years ago in Personal More Like This

The concept of Astrology or “study of the stars” has been around since the ancient world and can be traced as far back as the first dynasty of Mesopotamia.
For some the stars are a portent of the future and help inform one on the best course of action to take based on the stars’ alignment. If born under a specific “star” or month during the year you may have certain characteristics and manneri
dA in 10 years?I recently read a forum thread found here: http://forum.deviantart.com/devart/general/131114/ about where everyone thought deviantART would be in 10 years. Many people said we'd have sold out to MSN or AOL. Others said we'd be limiting uploads for non-subscribers and cutting off access to services.dA in 10 years?12 years ago in Personal More Like This
There's two ways to take this I suppose: Either it's a general feeling that this thing is too good to be true in its current form. Or somehow it's expected that a service growing so quickly would somehow be forced to sell out.
Neither is true. This was my response:
I think deviantART will be looked upon as a revolution unto itself. Having been able to scale not only it's infrastructure but it's community and spawned sub-communities (within the garden of deviantART) to include the various arts of hundreds of millions of artists worldwide.
And as the ultimate complement, it will be taken completely for granted. A service fully integrated in to daily li

Introducing the Timeline of DeviantArt!
Good morning Callisto VIII...
DeviantArt.com will celebrate its 15th birthday in August 2015. While many online communities have come and gone during the last decade and a half, DeviantArt remains because of our passionate and committed community. In that time, we've celebrated many milestones, and it became apparent we were in need of a place to share our victories and our challenges. And since we want to move toward more complete transparency with the community, what better time to also showcas
Black Hills Camping Trip (photos)Ohhhh goodness... where to begin? Back from a rather crazy camping trip. Crazy in ways both good and bad. Decided to spend a weekend in the Black Hills since Chris (INTOtheRFD) had been through a couple long rough weeks of work and wanted some down time. There were also storm chances every day/night, which were very enticing. And ever since Chris and I visited there for the first time in late 2012, we started thinking about moving there. Since Sarah (JupiterLily) is here now, we figured what better opportunity to show her what could possibly be our future home?Black Hills Camping Trip (photos)2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Left Friday morning to meet up with Chris, and headed west on I-90 through South Dakota towards Rapid City. Looked like an okay chase day, and stuff was finally starting to fire west of the Black Hills as we reached Kadoka. Headed west and south into the Black Hills, only to watch our storm die before it got to us. This would soon become the theme of the trip Called it a day and shot the sunset at Sylvan Lake.

The Enduring Enigma of CollageFebruary 21, 2013/by techgnoticThe Enduring Enigma of Collage3 years ago in Art Features More Like This
Collage is one of those art forms that immediately sets off heated debate about our most fundamental ideas and visceral feelings about the very essence of art itself.
Turn of the century troublemakers Georges Braque and Pablo Picasso began enhancing their paintings with glued on bits of cut out fabric and other materials, thus neatly blurring the line between the art categories of painting and sculpture. They shifted the emphasis or “meaning” of their painted images beyond an attempted interpretation of the painted “text” to thinking about the artists’ “process” – something wholly separate from the paintings themselves.
And with that a whole new Rubic’s Cube of basic questio
