I cannot live without you, so I'm doing this you see."
"If we cannot be together, then I don't want to live,
I've got nothing left at all, nothing left to give."
I close the envelope softly, seal it wish a kiss,
Turn to look the other way, and wait for my dismiss.

alone in the cold.
I can almost see the wind blow.
It brings back memories,
memories of you.
The way you used to smile,
you know, back we were two.
three musketeers minus one, "best friends".
The warth of your hug,
and those silly jokes you told,
while trying to cheer me up, force one smile out of me.
I opened up to you, telling you everything.
& now thinking back I realize...
you told me nothing.
Nothing worth knowing, anyway.
Whatever happened? Did you just get bored?
I'm not always cheery, not always interesting,
but I thought best friends was more than that.
Maybe I was too eager,
eager to believe I finally had someone,
some to call my best friend.
you were the closest to it,
almost the closest I'd ever had.
now you're just every other "friend" in the hallway.

"Fool! I'm a bloody fool!" she yelled, stomping over to her bed and throwing herself on it, burying her face under her pillow. There she sobed for a good twenty minutes, unable to help herself.
She hadn't ment to be so rude. She was jsut fed up with Alek tryign to pry things out of her. She couldn't tell him her secret, even though it was tearing her up inside to keep it from him. It was only fair that he knew, seeing as he had told her jsut abotu everything. But if he knew she wasn't a boy....she was sure he'd flip over the moon and never speak to her again.

"And I don't ever-" her mother's voice screeched with fury, her plump face turning a ruddy color with anger to match her daughter's.
"Ma, this is my passion! Ever since Da died- " Deryn sputtered out.
"No. Don't you say a word, young lady. Passion has nothing to do with it! A young woman such as yourself doesn't go hop on some warship and come back like like this!" Mrs. Sharp vigorously waved her flour-stained palms in Deryn's direction, and Deryn could do nothing but hang her head in shame.
Another set of eyes had been watching this scene, taking in the childish bickering. The brunette knew better than to get between a mother and her offspring, so he forced himself not to make a sound and drew himself to the farthest corner of the table.

The sky grew darker as the days grew longer, leading up to the day I had most been looking forward to – Halloween. For years, I had gone out trick or treating, dressed up as any fun thing I could think of. Ghosts, Vampires, Zombies… I’d done them all. But as the years went on, I stopped being “cute”. Rather, I became “too old”, and eventually some people started to call the cops. Seventeen I guess is a little old in the eyes of society, but I was still a kid! Let me have my candy and visit all the houses around!
I looked at myself in the mirror. My costume this year was a joke – nothing more than a sheet over my head with eyes cut out. I wanted to wear a more elaborate costume, but maybe if they saw this amateur costume that covered all my features, I’d get less people afraid of my age.
“I’m heading out!” I called to my parents.
“Timmy, again?” asked my mom. “We told you last year that you are jus

Leviathan: A picture for a prince
Just a small intro. Deryn/Dylan Sharp and Prince Alecksander Ferdinand are on board the leviathan heading towards the Ottoman Empire. A surprise request from Aleck gets Deryn/ Dylan to realize her true feelings for him. Rated pg-13 for later chapters.
(I might go to four chapters at most, also keep in mind there is a change of point of view and that the book just came out in October. This fanfic is a test run for future fanfics later on)
Alek walked along the great air ship that was the Leviathan. His now rubber soles clanked against the metal walkways of the ships spine. The whole crew seemed to be a little on edge whenever he and his men walked about with their "highly flammable" shoes. Until finally to put them all at ease they borrowed some rubber shoes that were necessary if you were to walk along the great ship.
After receiving the shoes Alek decided to head to the backside of the creature or "dorsal" as he learned later it

Of course he trusted Dylan. He had kept Alek's secrets since they met. But this was not a matter of trust, it was a matter of life or death, or so it felt to Alek.
"Yes. I trust you." he told Dylan earnestly.
"Then listen to me when I say you'll be fine." he patted the yellow object in Alek's hand. "Just release this semaphore flag if something goes wrong, or if you get the clart scared out of you." Dylan smirked. "I'll be down here watching and I'll haul you down in a squick."
And with that Alek was climbing, no, flying. The small seat he was strapped to swung sickeningly as the godless creature Dylan called a Huxley rose into the air. Alek barely dared to watch as Dylan and the top of the Leviathan

Deryn entered her private chambers, exhausted from three days of nonstop work on the Leviathan. Finally she was able to take a few minutes to change out of her sweaty uniform and change into something more appropriate. She sighed, remembering that they'd arrive to Japan the very next day and Alek would vanish from the Leviathan forever. He would probably vanish into the wilderness and somehow find a way back to the main land and hideout until this barking daft war would be over. Deryn shook her head, clearing her thoughts of Alek from her mind, reminding herself that he was a barking prince -that's archduke you dummkopf!- and she was a lowly mooneye-eyed lassie that served as an airman. She couldn't fall for him; she couldn't, unless she wanted him to run a mile. Anyway once Alek was gone, so would her feelings for him, too. Deryn put on a determined look on her face and chased away all thoughts of Alek that entered her mind.

"Can you keep a secret?"
Twilight was lying in her bed wide awake, staring at the ceiling. The sunlight was creeping into the room behind the thick blue curtains; the light filtering through casted faint shadows on the walls. The mare was going over yesterday's lesson in her head. Instead of ending awkwardly like the one earlier this week, it had just been awkward in general. The lengthy discussions she and the Princess usually had about the books had been diminished into a few words and there had been no "ideas" from Princess Celestia. At least this time Twilight had been prepared for it, though the way she prepared for something like this meant that there was rarely much more she could learn. Luckily studying was something Twilight greatly enjoyed. She also got to spend time with the Princess - something she enjoyed even more, lately more than ever. But no matter how much she loved all this, she hadn't been able to shake the nagging feeling that s
Chapter 10 'Monotony'The port was bustling, people of all ages were filling the walkways, there was barely room to breathe. Alek grasped his satches tight to his chest, ushering Deryn towards one of the farthest docks. Children ran underfoot, nearly sending him to the ground twice. But he didn't stop to complain, if they didn't hurry they would miss their boat.Chapter 10 'Monotony'4 years ago in Short Stories More Like This
At long last they made it, just as passengers were boarding. It was a large vessel, probably larger than the Leviathan, length-wise. They hurried up the ramps, handed their tickets over, and boarded.
Alek and Deryn contained themselves to their cabin for most of the trip, not wanting to get noticed in case someone had a keen eye. The trip was scheduled to be three weeks, so they had plenty of time to plan their next move.
"I can't wait to get off this barking ship" Deryn complained, only three days in. "The water is not the most entertaining way to travel. At least on the Leviathan I had things to do besides sit on my bum in a room all da
Cold as Stone 4Deryn sat bolt upright in the dismal hospital bed. She looked around. The nurse was nowhere to be seen. Setting her ice pack on the table beside her, she slid off the bed and crept to the door.Cold as Stone 44 years ago in Short Stories More Like This
She swore she just heard a gun shot. The sound was unmistakeable. Deryn slowly opened the door and peered both ways. The hall was deathly silent and dark. Her feet made little sound as she padded shoeless down the hall and in the direction she thought she'd heard them go an hour ago.
Deryn encountered no one as she glided along, keeping ot the shadows. Blisters, this place is confusing, she thought ot herself as she rounded a corner. It seemed there was no end to the twisting corridors. Portraits stared down at her, as if tracking her every move. She shuddered. The sooner they were out of this place the better.
But what would happen after this? The Leviathan was dead, she had no money to return home. She was stranded somewhere far from home with the archduke of Austria-Hungary.
Deryn shrugged aw

His eyes slowly got used to the murky darkness and he noticed the ceiling above him was made of crude stone. Water was dripping from it and onto the floor beneath him, which he guessed was stone as well, judging by the craggy surface under his body. He wanted to sit up but his arms were so heavy he couldn't even budge them.
Where am I?, Alek thought to himself, his thoughts still thick. It felt like his head was floating in water, bobbing around like a piece of driftwood. He honestly did not know where he could possibly be. The last thing he remembered was being on board the Leviathan talking to, to....
Alek felt his heart speed up. Deryn! He had been talking to her when the ship had been hit! Where was she now? He had to find her. Suddenly his muscles were fueled

Alek tried to sleep, but perching precariously on a branch about fifteen feet in the ari was not the best idea he'd had. No one ame into hte park that night, and they weould have been find sleeping on the ground. But Deryn was snoring away on his lap, and he didn;t dare disturb her.
After a few failed attempts, Alek gave up on counting sheep, and counted the stars instead. He hadn't been in Austria in so long, and now that he was back, he felt a strange kind of peace. He was home.
The sky was outrageously beautiful, the stars glittering against their black backdrop. There was a faint glow on the horizion from the city, but it didn't disrupt the gorgeous view. He played with Deryn's hair, watching her sleep. She looked so peaceful. His heart leapt when he touched her skin, her face completely blocking out any pretty night sky. She was beautiful, her features strong and sharp. He chuckled. Her name fit her so well.
He eventually was able to rest, his eyes

She Visits Her Friends
I can still see their smiles.
All my friends' familiar faces,
They stood here beside me at the eve of the gala.
Through this one night, all nights for years
Over the centuries, over the mortal lifetimes…
After gala I go to see my friends,
Meet them in their rest,
Give them my time…
This one night
I remember them, put flowers on their graves,
When they've left me
Where I cannot follow…
We had our days together.
Our laughter, rich and heartfelt.
In their company I felt peace:
Every moment's measureless ease,
No more a queen,
Not a goddess,
Just a friend.
Could I ever forget them…?
Is this the price I pay for immortality?
See them wither and fade over the passing times,
Carry the memories, when the world around forgets?
When their smiles pass away, when it's all that's lef

"Come on Dylan, it would be fun!" Alek pleaded, almost nearly bow down to him, just to accept the offer.
"No barking way! That's sounds stupid!!"

Dylan shook his head, Alek knew that Dylan had a weakness, and that weakness was begging.
Dylan sighed, annoyed, and wanted to get out of there.
"Fine! But it's for fun! Got it?!"

"Deryn, have you read the paper yet?" he called out. Footsteps sounded from the other room, and Deryn entered. She was wearing trousers and a buttoned up shirt, hair cropped short as ever.
"No, why? Something good?" her eyes were bright.
"Yes, actaully, I think you'll find it amusing." he handed her the news, crossing his arms and watching her as she read the front page.
Her face went from curiosity to astonishment. "Blisters, Alek, your a genious! How did you know?" she looked up at him, amazed.
Alek chuckled. "I know Volger about as well as I know myself. The wildcount gets what he wants. He wasn't going to let a little thing like my 'death' stop him from finishing the wishes of my father. Volger is a loyal man, I suspected he might go this far."

"DERYN!" Alek shouted as he shook her limp body trying to wake her up, get her to talk, or do something.
Alek's arm landed on a small box as he continued to shake Deryn (as if that would help) and knocked it over. The clattering helped Alek see through his panic and look at what box he had knocked over.
"God's wounds," Alek breathed as he saw that this box was Deryn's smelling salts, "This could barking work!"
He opened the box and waved it under her nose trying to spread the sharp smell to wake Deryn up. Finally Deryn opened her eyes and Alek sighed with relief, "Thank providence that you're alright, Deryn! I thought you had just died! Are you all right?"
"Oooooohhhh... Alright isn't the right word here, I think," Deryn managed to get out before hurling right on the bed.
"Schiesse! What's the matter Deryn?" Shouted Alek and began to spout off all kinds of Austrian swears.

Alek leaned back looking shocked, as he saw Deryn wince from her pounding ribs and head, but managed to compose himself and reply, "Y-you're alive, Dyl- erm, what's your true name?"
Deryn stared at him, unable to process that Alek knew who she really was, answering, "Deryn, and how did you know that I'm a barking girl?!"
Alek blushed, whispering, "Y-you were hurt so I-"
Alek broke off blushing furiously as Deryn understood what had happened and replied in her girl voice, "So you know, and hate me, at this point that you've seen what I've kept from you all these months," Deryn sighed and hung her head, "I-I... There were at least five hundred people in attendance, most of them sobbing their damned eyes out. Alek shook his head. He was only duke for a few months, had he earned the right to have tears shed over him?
Alek winced as he took his seat next to Deryn. The wound Volger had given him still felt fresh as the day he had recieved it. Dr. Barlow sat on Dery's right, dabbing at her eyes under the black veil cascading from her outrageous hat.
He took Deryn's hand, and she gave it a squeeze. This was going to be difficult. No matter how insane Volger had gotten, or how terrible he had been to Alek as a child, he had been there, and had sacrificed many things to make sure Alek got his chance, even his life.
Alek had found out that day that Volger and Klopp were the only two to have made it out of the Leviathan's crash. Volger must have mistaken Alek's body for Bauer's charred corpse, and Klopp had lost a leg. He sat a f
