Thoughts on the ME3 Ending DLC *SPOILER-FILLED*Yesterday I downloaded and played through the ending DLC. While I could only offer a few flailing and inarticulate meeps of protest to my boyfriend after finishing it, a day of gathering my thoughts and seeing other people's reactions on various forums has allowed me to put them down in words.Thoughts on the ME3 Ending DLC *SPOILER-FILLED*3 years ago in Personal More Like This
It was in response to someone on the Bioware forums posting a link to a Youtube video of the Renegade control ending (which I hadn't seen before) that this outpouring finally erupted, so please view the beginning in that light.
*shivers* I already thought control was creepy. Even as a paragon, I can't help but see Shepard as, in tens of thousands of years, becoming essentially the next starchild. There's enough humanity left in her to go mad with that kind of power, that immortality. Paragon or renegade, you're still setting your Shepard up not as a figure of hope and cooperation, or of strength and leadership, but as a hopefully benevolent god with cont

But the sequence of events I just experienced in Skyrim have made me question my own reality.
I hope you're bored, because this will undoubtedly become long winded.
After playing ME3 for weeks, I decided to go back to Skyrim. Some of you might remember that before ME3 came out I was having a hard time finding a skyrim husbando. When I finally did, he left me waiting at the alter for two days. Yes, two days. Then after the vows he RAN OFF. After some searching I found my lizard lover and ordered him to my home to make tasty foodstuff and collect money for me. After some misadventures involving a lot of cabbage and some barrels, I returned to my breeze home only to find it empty. This worried me. It had been days since I ordered my husbando to the kitchen and he was yet to appear. Concerned, I began to trace the path he would have taken to get to me, imagining finding him left

Lost between hell and paradise
There is something about a forest in its living, breathing oneness that gives it an aura of actual sentience.
Its as if you, an intruder, have entered the woodland’s domain to hunt for its secrets to having survived for so many centuries. The forest knows you are there and offers you no help in making your way. A thousand hidden eyes observe your movements; thousands of keen nos
Exercise 17: Cast ShadowsTHIS WEEK's EXERCISE POST : THE FULL POST AND DETAILSExercise 17: Cast Shadows1 year ago in Personal More Like This
So what is a cast shadow? A cast shadow is caused from an obstruction that interferes with the direction of the light source, and that obstruction CASTS a SHADOW. The challenge is figuring out how to add values to the form of the subject matter in both lit areas and areas that fall under the cast shadow.
EXERCISE: Create 3 examples of cast shadows on different subject matters.
For this exercise, there are three examples you are to test your skill set on. You can download the practice sheet on the main page but below is an example setup.
1. The first is an animated character with 2 obstructions. You know the scene set up: When a garage door is lowering or a door is slowly being close

What are you doing for Valentines Day this year?
Maybe you’ve got a dinner date at a great restaurant, or perhaps you’re planning to stay in and watch some Netflix. Then again, maybe you’re planning on murdering seven members of a rival gang in order to subvert their control over territory you’re trying to claim.
At least, that’s w

Also, all of your dreams better come true or else.
If they don't, I'll be forced to send you encouraging e-cards, and I don't think you want THAT, do you?
Didn't think so.
So...yeah, just wanted to let you know.
P.S. Have a nice day, too, or I'll find out where you live, break into your house at night, and give you a delicious baked treat. I'll do it.
Art Instruction Books that I've Found HelpfulHey folks,Art Instruction Books that I've Found Helpful1 year ago in Personal More Like This
So last week I wrote about irrational confidence and how it helps artistsand you all seemed to enjoy it. One of the things that really stood out to me was how many of you went out and bought "Force: Dynamic Life Drawing for Animators" by Mike Mattesi.
As a person that spends a lot of time trying to get better at drawing, I have read a billion and a half art instruction books. Not all of them are good, and some of them I feel even steer you in the wrong direction. So I'd like to try and distill the information that I've accumulated over the years for you here—which books actually worked for me. I'll provide links as well. What a swell guy, huh?

So, I know I'm not usually serious, but I'd like to be just for a bit. This is a long post, so feel free to not read if you don't have the time. I totally get it. If you do have the time, please do. It might give you something to think about, especially if you're a female gamer.
I just wanted to take a moment to say that Mass Effect 3 has done something really amazing in my eyes.
I'm a 22-year-old female gamer. I've been playing video games since my very early childhood. Now, I'm attending a school to get a degree in making them.
I've been incredibly isolated because of who I am, and I've refused to change, willingly accepting my own fate of quiet evenings and cellphones that never ring. Other girls my age never understood me and refused to even try. They had their labels for me, and they swore I spoke another language if I mentioned my most favored of hobbies.
Then, I came to college. In my program, there's almost not a female in sight. The few that exist

ARTIST'S BLOCK - HOW TO BEAT ITHow do you deal with "Artist's Block?"ARTIST'S BLOCK - HOW TO BEAT IT2 years ago in Personal More Like This
I don't care who you are, or how well you draw, one of these days, the Art Block Fairy is going to pay you a little visit. When that day comes, ideas will be scarcer than possums driving pickup trucks. Despite the randomness of that metaphor, how you handle artist's block will decide when you'll get those creative juices flowing again. Some of you will decide to pause and have a snack. I can tell you from experience that this doesn't do much to kick-start the imagination. When that doesn't work, there's always the option of getting a second snack. But eventually, you'll get too frustrated and too full to keep doing that. There's got to be another solution. So you decide to follow the prevailing wisdom, which is to go for a walk to refresh yourself, in the hopes that inspiration might return. The walk is pleasant, but almost mythical in its fecklessness. If walks worked, the beach would be teaming with cartoonists and write

before that you should look up some informations
you probably noticed that in my work it is often hard to distinguish if im using a zbrush model or just painined it all in photoshop
reason for that is simple.
my realism rendering is greatly based on 3 d rendering processes.
by this i mean as i learned 3d i became aware of the stuff we usually visually take for granted.
qualities of material, importance of reflectivity, ambient occlusion, and subsurface scattering.
to any 3d artist these are everyday terms, while 2d artists usually paint them without often even being aware of wheat they are really doing
for instance , a 3d artist will at any given point use 2 types of shadows. cast shadows from a direct lightsource, and ambient occlusion shadows which naturally appear more intensively the closer planes of an object are together.
i can get into this and make it a long discussion , but easier w

I totally wanted to post just to share what was probably the most hilarious thing that's happened to me on multiplayer so far. So, here's the story...
I'm not going to lie; I'm not exactly terrible at the game. I might say that I'm...decent. I was online with a group and some randoms. One was super nice, and the other was not super nice. He was the kind of guy who had an excuse for every time he died. It was a minor annoyance, but it was nothing hindering the game too much.
We played through two rounds of Bronze and two rounds of Silver. Everyone had been friendly, plenty of good teamwork and communication. Upon finishing the second round of Silver, the person of interest was rather miffed about coming in last place.
He grumbled, "I can't believe I'm being beat by a little kid."
To this, another player asked what he meant by that, and he called out my gamertag specifically, since I'd come in first. I didn't reply to this or comment, but I thought it was really hilarious
Tools of the TradeHey guys. I figured I'd go ahead and do a FAQ journal entry. Just a basic list of the tools I'm currently using for my marker work. I have a new tutorial for my markers that I'll post when I'm able to share the art I used for the progress shots. Feel free to fire away with any questions and hopefully, this can be a go to guide for basic info on my tools. I'm not going to talk about oil painting materials as I'm still figuring all that out and I doubt an answer I give today will hold up in the future.Tools of the Trade2 years ago in Personal More Like This

Markers: Prismacolor Cool and French grey markers. I think "Copic" has become another word for "marker" these days, so it's assumed that I'm using Copics for all of my work, but I actually use Prismacolor for all of my figures and detail work and only use Copic markers for backgrounds. I use to use "Warm" greys but I like the sepia look of French more now. I also occasionally use Copic color markers when I'm doing a full color marker piece. Why do I like Prismacolor markers
Difference between selling Art and selling MeatGreetings Ryceballs. Today I am gonna be talking about the differences between selling art and selling meat.Difference between selling Art and selling Meat2 years ago in Personal More Like This
It is absolutely fascinating how different the two can be! :iconyoudontsayplz: ... Well first of all, an artist likes their work to be appreciated and let the audience see for themselves whether they want to buy their artwork or not. While a butcher (ESPECIALLY ASIAN ONES LIKE THE ONE IN THE ARTWORK) only cares about selling the meat and making the profit, they have no sentimental feelings towards what they are selling, because if they do then there won't be any meat to sell right? One of the main rule of a butcher is to have no emotional attachment towards the animals, because they know sooner or later the animal needs to be chopped up. Well what about artists? Well they put their blood, sweat and tears into their artwork to make it as pretty as possible, all in hopes that the audiences would enjoy their art as much as the artist enjoy making them. NOW here's the thing thoug

This is a photo of me when I was at school. I wasn't the best looking fella and wasn't very smart either, all I did was play Pokemon and daydream, actually I was pretty much setting myself up for great humiliation and constant bullying with what I do lol. But one thing kept my head above water, I used to draw... a LOT. I used to draw in my little pink diary as well as even drawing in my homework. I just really loved.. to draw. And you know what? I gained a lot of respect for that. I wasn't one of those popular kids at school but I actually got along with ALL the stereotype groups, I got along with the popular guys, the nerds, the hot girls, the Hongkies, the Korean breakdancers, the wannabe gangsters, I even got alo

After losing her family at sixteen to a bloody Batarian pirate attack on an Alliance colony, the young fighter joined the Alliance military only to lose her entire squad in a deadly thresher maw attack. In the years since, these early scars have forged a new identity out of the shattered ruins of the child whose family died on Mindoir. Known for her “tough but fair” approach, Shepard’s fight against the geth incursion broke new grounds for humanity when she became the first human Spectre on the galactic Council’s elite forces. My role on the film was "Master Lighting Artist" but my general role is "LIghting Technical Director". Don't let the word "director" confuse you. I am not the head of lighting, it's just a term for every Lighting Artist that means our job tends to be technical and most of the "directing" I'm doing is kicking computers to get them to do what I want. For those who do not know what "lighting" means on a 3D animated film let me give a quick description. Pixar movies are not hand drawn like traditional animation. They more closely resemble stop motion film where a physical 3 dimensional puppet is made, a set is built, real lights are put in place and then an animator moves the puppet slightly then takes a picture, moves it again and takes another picture, until you have a whole "s
