How to gain popularityI've had various people ask me what they can do to get noticed on DA so I'll write a little journal about my experience with various methods of getting your stuff out there. How to gain popularity2 years ago in Art Features More Like This
I am not at all claiming to be popular myself, I'm just providing feedback.
1. USE GROUPS
Seriously people. It's probably one of THE best ways to get exposure.
There are so many groups too! You will always be able to find one that is suited to your art.
Groups are effective because it gets your artwork exposed to a new batch of watchers (the people who watch the group) besides your own. Try to join groups with lots of members and watchers, as these will give you the most views.
A really great group to gain exposure from is :icongetwatchers:
2. USE THE THUMBSHARE FORUM AND CHAT
Lots of people go to the thumbshare forum and the thumbchat to find new artists to watch and to share their works. These are great places to meet new people and aquire feedback on your deviatio

You're with a group of people and everyone in this group are making weird or strange hand signs or movements and are moving their bodies in a peculiar way.
Only the people in this group knows what what these weird movements means and seems very natural to them. They look unto you to contribute to the conversation, but your mind is stuck on something else and you haven't a clue about anything of the topic.
You hate it when people aren't talking about the things you like because their too busy making small talk about things like music, gossip or something they saw on television.
Also, you have to think about these things a lot and start to get anxious about what to do or say or worry that they'll start picking on you or tell you to leave as well as fear that you won't ge
The Art of Wreck-It RalphReleased to theatres in North America in November 2012, Wreck-It Ralph has gathered a solid fanbase of young and old alike, reaching out to lovers of arcade and video game alike in a way that no other animated film has managed to accomplish. Because of these features, as well as an unusual, engaging (and massive!) roster of characters, artists have been drawn to the film, creating incredible works in a variety of styles and bringing more life to an already vibrant cast and story. The Art of Wreck-It Ralph1 year ago in Art Features More Like This

For My Own SafetyAnnouncing The Fan Fiction Article. (This will probably get long and there will be swearing. There also may be triggering words or statements within, so if you are sensitive to those things be aware of this before reading).
Pardon my language but -- what the Hell is wrong with the dA admins?
I mean really?
I get it, I really do. You're busy, you don't really want to do your job, and you've been taught to have the least possible concern for other people as you can as to avoid branding this website with a 'bad reputation'.
This place is supposedly all flowers, rainbows, and happy people frolicking away in eternal bliss sharing art, and being merry.
Meanwhile the truth is this place is the biggest joke on the internet. It's filled and continually filling up with so many sockpuppet troll accounts, cyber bullies, and spammers with such rapidity it puts Myspace or any other social media site to shame.

The Problem with the Comics IndustryThis is a long one, folks, so put on a pot of coffee. The Problem with the Comics Industry2 years ago in Personal More Like This
"The Problem with the Comics Industry" is a phrase that gets used quite a bit, especially if you run in indy circles like I do. Sometimes its "problems", plural, but the consensus seems to be that the industry side of the equation is broken to some degree. And while I agree (and that's mostly what this blog is about), I've started to wonder if we are all talking about the same "problem". I've had the experience of seeing independent creators complain about the problems, in a way that I would initially agree with, but produce work that, to me, seems very indicative of what I had thought the problem to be. So I thought I would speak explicitly to what I thought the problem(s) are, and hopefully hear from others as well.
Comics are a unique and powerful medium, a fact that Scott McCloud has helped my generation to fully appreciate (thanks, Scott ). T

will you carry on
further down the line
it's all gone
do you bleed like me
do you bleed at all
how this turned out to be
one cold final call
shells of steel run right over me
the company of fools
in the end you'll walk right over me
one sad broken tool
is your screen as blank as mine
do the circuits scream
will your nightmares keep you safe
in the dome of dreams
clawing at the glass
the wires around your heart
how the hours come to pass
when you tear them apart

How Cartoon Network Got Me A Job (Sorta)The title of this tale will make sense shortly. First let us set up just how I got here. How Cartoon Network Got Me A Job (Sorta)2 years ago in Personal More Like This
As many here know, I have been out of work for at least 2 years, from the time my father passed away. My last somewhat meaningful employment opportunity was with the US Census and while it was good money, it was predictably short lived. The last few months have been a process of applying for a retail job and awaiting word to see if I would get a call back. And the people looking to hire have at that point not disappointed me in failing to return said calls. It's a sucky feeling; even if you do have the experience needed to get the job, they will not hire you for unspecidfied reasons. I blame a lack of a college degree, which I now seek to correct soon.
Cut to this January: I get a call from my housing authority rep. The policy that they have is about to be enforced and I'm officially put on notice that if I do not get a job or commit a certain amount of time to do volunteer work, I will be removed

Vampire CollegeThe other day, my dad handed me a printout of an article from a conservative website about going to college. Dad does this from time to time, I think because he suspects I'm a filthy liberal, and wants to send a few shots across the bow to see if I fire back. I usually don't, because I've been through enough warfare to have a better idea of when to pick my battles.Vampire College1 year ago in Personal More Like This
Well, I won't reference the article directly, but the gist of it was that college is a bit of a costly venture that doesn't always yield the results it promises for the price of admission, and may actually do more harm than good. (High schoolers, meditate on that for a minute, please)
Now, the article itself sort of descended into a screed about how colleges just crank out liberals anyway, and liberals tend to vote Democrat, and we should just bust the whole thing up because dear God, we need conservative voters or they'll have a WOMAN in the White House next...
...Which is unfortunate, because "liberal conspiracy" aside, I

But I'm useless, I'm so tired. I've come all this way, all by myself. So you'll forgive me, won't you??

Today the future keeps walking, but for some reason, i keep dwelling on the past.
My selfish and darkest desires, my twisted hopes and dreams on destruction. Burning, bleeding, exploding, it's beautiful, I was a fool to think i could dream like a normal man. To see hope die, i numb with such a beauty of pain and sorrow.
We are nothing, but ants. We live and die, over and over again. Always under their control. Nothing changes, there is no future.

1) Osama bin Laden was killed
2) The Republicans officiaklly lost the 2012 election
3) Donald Trump was trolled most epically.

So, that said, I now present...

February 14th: How to Survive ItAh, that time of year has come once again. The time of year that us single, weird losers hate mostly because...well, we're single, weird and losers. Yeah it's great to have your freedom and to not be bound down, but when everyone is thrusting it in your face (and your sister keeps flashing her new ring and plotting a wedding that isn't going to come for a year or two) while yet another attempt on a dating site went nowhere and even girls on places you want to talk to want nothing to do with you or have someone, it just feels like a losing battle. You want to not care, but the world won't let you forget, particularly when you create girls you wish existed in the real world but who you already know want nothing to do with you even if they did. So as I prepare to change the name of this Tuesday to "eat free barbecue day" (a perk for renewing my data with Famous Dave's...well that and it's the last day of the coupon I have), here are five songs tFebruary 14th: How to Survive It2 years ago in Personal More Like This

When I was child, I was diagnosticated with a mental condition called Asperger's Syndrome.
Are you questioning what Asperger's Syndrome is? This is the information.
Asperger syndrome (AS), also known as Asperger's syndrome or Asperger disorder, is an autism spectrum disorder (ASD) that is characterized by significant difficulties in social interaction, alongside restricted and repetitive patterns of behavior and interests. It differs from other autism spectrum disorders by its relative preservation of linguistic and cognitive development. Although not required for diagnosis, physical clumsiness and atypical use of language are frequently reported.
The syndrome is named after the Austrian pediatrician Hans Asperger who, in 1944, studied and described children in his practice who lacked nonverbal communication skills, demonstrated limited
