Edit (2013-06-29): made an addition to the picture. Can you spot it?
And now, another submission in the "20-30-something Years of" series, this time featuring all power-ups, forms and power-granting items Mario could benefit from in the last 30 years! It even includes some power-ups from yet-to-be-released games. Can you name them all? Hit the Download Image button at your right to view full-size, or just click the picture to enlarge!
I'm not that satisfied of how the composition turned out, but hey everything can't be rainbows and puppies all the time. I'll be having some of those at the Otakuthon convention I'm attenting in Montreal next week, so come and see me to get your copy! There might also be an alternate version with a certain other mustachioed character in it.
35+ hours in Paint Tool SAI and Photoshop CS4. Watermarked to avoid unauthorized printing and selling of my stuff (it happened frequently in the past).
i drew Mario in Tanooki Suit. as for color palette, i using many colors on each character and when its done, i ended up have very colorful illustration. It's also featured many related things such as; Kinopio(Toad), Kuribo(Goomba), Super Leaf,Starman, Jugem's cloud, Red and Green Mushroom,Koopa's Flag and even Gold Coins in this illustraton.
This is my final project for my Color Illustration class at the Joe Kubert School. The assignment was to create a video game box cover in any color medium. So i did Super Mario Bros 3 in a style that is supposed to mimic the vintage, semi fantastical realistic style of the old megaman box covers. Yeah so.... yeah.
I just wanted this tribute to be the first deviation of the year, and it's finally done! Wohoo!
This drawing has been inspired to the first deviation I've uploaded on deviantart: [link] (and also one of my first digital pictures drawn back in 2005!). I have been always thinking to draw a remake of it with my new style and add the Koopalings instead of the other enemies...but I have been stuck in my personal opinion :"not drawing again the same thing"...than I have changed my mind, as you can see!
This drawing took me soooo long...I have to care to many commitments trough its time. As soon as I had free time and enough inspiration, I worked on this. I have put a lot of effort on this piece because I tried to be as near as possible to what was in my mind (because sometimes I am too lazy for it XD).
I really love Super Mario Bros 3: it made my childhood and I still enjoy playing this game. I guess it has something magical...hasn't it?

I'm not really a big fan of Mario, I dislike Super Mario Bros. 3, World, 64, and while I liked Sunshine to a fair degree, Mario Galaxy really amazed me and it was the first time I ever looked at a Mario game and said "I have to buy this!" Of course, that was after I played the demo at Wal-Mart for over an hour a few years back.
While Galaxy 2 was fun, it doesn't beat Galaxy 1 in my opinion, not by a long-shot. I decided to draw a little Mario fanart to share my love of Galaxy with everyone.
Also, I'm not including a not-so-custom-watermark in my future art. I pieced it together by using a random assortment of brushes my teacher gave me while including my initials in the center.
This was done moreover as practice, but I think I'll continue with a series of tributes to Nintendo heroes. Next is either Link or Samus, but first, I need to work on a more personal piece. This will probably also be the last time I use such vivid colors.
