Mandelbulb 3D, my process. Over the last few months I have gotten a lot of questions on the process I use to create my images. It has only been about the last year that I feel I am really understanding Mandelbulb and creating more with purpose and not chance. However chance and luck does still come into the creation process. I view what we do as Mandelbulb artists a bit like exploring. I am an artist who has been making art for well over 40 years. All my years of painting and photography does play a roll in how I use Mandelbulb. This is not a tutorial but a look at how I create an image for those that are new to Mandelbulb 3D.Mandelbulb 3D, my process.1 year ago in Personal More Like This
There are to many artists who inspire me and have shown support here at DeviantArt I could not name them all. Here are a few that I have learned a lot from by looking at their work, studying their tutorials, and analyzing their parameters:

Click here to submit some stereo art
Now all you Stereoscopic 3D fans (that's the 3D that pops in/out of the screen, not the computer animation one) can submit and browse stereo work from one cohesive category!
Confused? Here’s a quick FAQ:
What is Stereoscopy?
Stereoscopy, commonly known as '3-D' is a method of creating an image which creates an illusion of depth. This works by showing a slightly offset picture to your left eye than your right eye, making things appear further forward or back into the picture!
The new category covers any stereo viewing methods including:

let's start with the rule that is the biggest problem-you guys can solve it!).
every entry has to be made specifically for this contest we will check and disqualify entries that were posted before the date of this journal. it's your responsibility to follow this rule. we will check the dates after the contest ends.
you can enter as many times as you want
all mediums are allowed
you don't have to be literal, but we would like something catches the atmosphere of a dream or somehow relates to a dream. it doesn't need to be too obvious, but we should get the idea that it's dream related
the contest will run for 2 months. i will put a countdown in the upper left corner of the front page. the dates on the countdown are the bottom line, i say that because i scr

FormulasA number of you have asked for my parameters.Formulas2 years ago in Personal More Like This
I have copied three below, they are (Asurf Curls) (Asurf Roots) (Asurf Shrooms).
They are what I call 'Raw Parameters'
All formulas and variables are unchanged but I have reset the camera position to default and removed all gradient and lighting effects so don't expect a 'finished image' if you load them up.
Just rotating the camera angle and running the image through C5 is not in my opinion a genuine Tweak, go explore, go look for your own 'Sweet Spot'
If you use any of them then a link back here would be nice.
Drop me a note if you have problems or suggestions for improvement.

SilverFractal Professional Released!!SilverFractal Professional was released in Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, UK, and the U.S. If you have installed Windows 8 on your computer, get SilverFractal Professional in the Windows Store (EN-US) and try it! (Search for "silverfractal" in the Windows Store.)SilverFractal Professional Released!!2 years ago in Personal More Like This
SilverFractal Professional now supports these features:
･Generate various types of 2D/3D fractals
･Render fractal animation
･Support full floating point image processing
･Support multi-layer and layer-nesting
･Support multithreaded rendering
SilverFractal has focused on the stability of its foundations. And I'm implementing lots of powerful features now. I will write some articles that show how to use SilverFractal Professional.
SilverFractal is suspended by Windows 8 when it's in the background and resumed when it gets in the foreground. If a rendering time is long, snap SilverFractal.
When you render an animation, set values to Length

Mandelbulb 3D Art in Short FilmQuite some time ago (9-8-2011) I was contacted along with other Mandelbulb 3D artists at Fractal Forums and DeviantArt and was asked for permission to use some of our work in a short, independent Science Fiction film. The production group is called We Were Monkeys and they were putting together the film for the Sitges Film Festival in Spain that October. They said that things went really well for them at the festival but they were making some revisions to the film before posting it online.Mandelbulb 3D Art in Short Film2 years ago in Personal More Like This
A few days ago they contacted those involved with the film and let us know that it is finally now available for viewing. It is titled OVO . It's quite interesting with well done effects. It's made with English sub-titles but spoken in Spanish(?). All of the MB3D artists got a screen credit at the end, so that was cool! Other MB3D artists include Jess
Have you heard about .....Several weeks ago, in my daily effort to view all the daily submissions from the many Groups and individuals I watch, I started to notice more and more frequently that some of the Fractals I was viewing were being created using this new program. First it was just a few a day, then suddenly I was seeing dozens of Flames being created with JWildFire! Curios about this newcomer to the Fractal Scene I went to the website and discovered that the software is designed to run using Java and will run on multiple Platforms.Have you heard about .....4 years ago in Personal More Like This
So, I with to the developers da page and told him that I had created a folder in Xtreme Fractals for the software! http://xtremefractals.deviantart.com/gallery/34103672 I also grabbed a snippet of information about the software to put on the left info panel of the folder. Since then the developer, thargor6 has joined our Group and he and I have had several discussions about his program! What follows is a result of those discussion. Here's Andreas aka - Thagor6

Apophysis animation tutorial using apophymatorHello dellow feviants.... erm... fellow Deviants (Get out of here Jar Jar! )Apophysis animation tutorial using apophymator5 years ago in Personal More Like This
I was recently asked by a fellow youtuber to make a tutorial on how to make animations in apophysis using the apophymator script. What follows is copied verbatim, typos and all, from my message to said youtuber.
< copypasta >
You first need to get the apophymator script at http://drop.io/apophymator
unzip it into your scripts directory. If you do not have one, make one.
First thing you'll need to do is to create several "key frames". These are the frames that the script will morph from one key frame to the next. When making keyframes, make sure that they all have the same number of transforms (triangles) or the script most likely will crash.
Usually when I make my videos, I start with a flame I previously made that I think will make a good animation. I work backwords for a few frames (about 4 or 5ish) to twe

New fave feature - Photoshop CS6So how many people have installed Photoshop CS6 by now. It's only been about 5 days since it's available but I guess I'm anxious to hear from people who have installed it or If you waiting till the full version to come out, Kosher or Non Kosher. There's a comment on my last journal that says something like "I'm waiting to download the pirated version. I am not naive and I know many, many people are going to do the same, but that's not relevant to this journal entry. Personally I like it very much. I've been fooling around with 3D x64. The color takes getting used to. from grey to blue to dark. (there is a light skin for it). JWildfire V0.41 releaseJust released JWildfire V0.41.JWildfire V0.41 release3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Major changes where made to the fractal flames generator T.I.N.A.::
- variation effect preview which can be turned on/off using a new button in the preview area. (This preview displays how the superimposition of all variations (of the currently selected transform) affects a rectangular grid of points. So it can be a great way of exploring what a certain variation actually does and how their parameters work.)
- minor improvements to the Flower3D and SubFlame random flame generators
- nBlur, linearT and linearT3D variations by FractalDesire
- post_zscale_wf and post_ztranslate_wf variations for better control of 3D fractals
- optimized coloring of the subflame_wf variation
- new exponent parameter for the spherical3d_wf variation
As usual click the "Random flames" button to start playing around and have fun
You can download the new version at the projects web page: http://www.andreas-maschke.com/?page_id=351

I feel so awful that work on the script was delayed over and over last year.
My flesh and bone life has been and continues to be complicated in so many ways since at least 2 years ago.
If there are any Deviant personal injury lawyers that can help a poor old fellow out, my gratitude would be immeasurable.
From all the reading about laws I've been through it appears I have more than enough cause to bring the problems I face to a court to judge. (But legal systems are intensely complex, so I do not have any way to know without professional help.)
I want little more than to remove myself from this house- (actually apartment-) of-horrors t
