Night falls, blast of silenceNight falls, blast of silenceNight falls, blast of silence6 months ago in Free Verse More Like This
The fear inside heightens
No light to guide the insurrection
False sense of direction
Uncertainty swells, the empty grows
The sweat begins to flow
All but black, lies ahead
Consumed whole by dread
Fear of the unknown so frighting
Envelops fast as lightning
It's all inside, trapped within
The prison of your skin
Fear is strong, but not enough
To overpower thought of love

Knight's DawnA lonely knight beneath the moonlight cries,Knight's Dawn8 months ago in Traditional Fixed Forms More Like This
Hands hold the token of a love denied;
Misgiven promises and passion lies
Are wounds the strongest warriors can't abide.
Forlorn resolve no longer would adjure
And a bleak mind nor could submit to pray,
For bravery and courage to endure,
For noble strength and boundless might to stay.
There's nothing left but for a man to plead,
A grain of will inside an emptied heart:
For knives to make the skin and muscle bleed,
For the long sword to split the helm apart.
Woe's end comes marching with the dawn's faint glow
One final charge against a deadly foe.

i guess i must be dreaming
'cause there's no way i'd ever find
you in this here and now
you left me there when i was crying
so lost and all alone
you walked away without a glance
not even a goodbye
there are things that i would say to you
if only you would listen
things i'm sure you never knew
you don't know what you're missing
you cannot look me in the eye
don't even have the time to try
leave me to dream of better times
when there was me and you

Letting Go or Giving Up?Rain is murdering my window. The wind keeps sounding like a scream and it echoes in my head even after the trees stop casting spooky shadows on my wall. The water streaks the glass and races toward the bottom of the pane, I pick the underdog and I always lose. It's kind of hard to win against gravity. The lightening illuminates my bed and I can see my frame shaking in the storm. Pretty soon my eye lids are heavy and even sooner the sun is up and I slept through shakes and terror and being afraid my house would float away. Afraid that the waters would rise to my second story and my daddy wouldn't hear me scream and worse he wouldn't come to rLetting Go or Giving Up?3 years ago in Short Stories More Like This

take you anywhere they please
hold tight, it's about to take you under
why even try to breath?
just let it reach you one more time
before you start to leave
This will be the song of a lifetime
let the beat tear open your heart
we live by the smash of a drum
we breathe at the strum of each guitar
just let the song capture you
as soon as the first verse starts
This is how we get out
from under every watchful eye
we take one look at the crowd
than close our eyes and dive
we let the music pull us down
and tear apart our minds
I know you've got to feel this
the beat running through your veins
I can

Book to BookShe slid from book to bookBook to Book6 months ago in Free Verse More Like This
Collecting love from those who did not know her
Hiding papercuts and feelings behind closed eyelids
Letting it all out in poetry
And drawings that didn’t quite come out right
She slid down the slide of fantasy
Holding on tightly to a heart
Not even the strongest could carry
And laughing in her pain like a hyena
That couldn’t let go
Let go
Let go

ShatteringI don't understand you.Shattering6 months ago in Free Verse More Like This
You used to smile at me in ways that seemed bright.
Was it all a facade? Was the joy in your eyes a trick of the light?
You told me to be strong, you taught me to fight for myself.
But you also taught me obedience in the harshest ways
leaving me to cry on my own, never comforting me.
Was this the tough love you sought to give me?
So many unseen tears were shed, and every time
I would put on a brave smile and hide everything away.
You hurt me once, but I never complained.
My youth healing me quickly as I went out to play
Then you hurt me twice, I blinked hard, seeing stars.
I covered my ears so I wouldn't

A dream so big
A dream so wild
A dream so sweet
I strive to fly
To fly so high
To fly so long
To fly so fast
I leap to feel
A leap so strong
A leap so great
A leap so wonderful
I fall to understand
To realise the truth
To realise the reality
To realise the bitterness
The madness of my life will always be bittersweet

On the words that friends forgot,
Never checking twice my line,
Every day spent in confine,
Long awaiting their return,
I always hoped but never learn,
Never changing words nor tone,
Every day spent on my own,
Singing out a broken creed,
Singing so I might be freed.

The place where truth and myth collide,
You rose from deep within my mind,
And taught me how to live in kind.
Deep inside I feared to see,
That I'm just You, and You're just Me,
But somewhere in You's something great,
Beyond my grasp but yet your fate.
And now you're both my sword and shield,
To you alone, the stars will yield,
It seems my part is almost through,
To dream, create and harbour you.
Not just a Dream, You'll never die,
Though in my sleep, for you I cry,
For now's the hardest part you see,
I'm waking up, to set you free...

Let me explain.
They call me insane.
Ludicrous. Crazy. Deranged.
But I must argue that isn't everyone too?
The man on the street? The girl at the park? The mail man?
A hundred years ago, people who dreamed of technology we have today,
A super computer. Satellites. People on Mars.
Was thought to be impossible.
Inconceivable. Unbelievable. Unrealistic.
A thousand years ago such things as
Canons. Cars. Space shuttles.
Were things said by the crazy.
Delusional. Upset. Mental.
And yet here we are today with all these things that were said to be unimaginable.
Unattainable. Futile. Hopeless.
So does that not mean that w

Alone but for the stars and the obsessive writing;
Longing for the love that like his lost kingdom will never flower,
To know no glory, no honor, only the call of the dying.
Prince, your diseased body and your shattered heart
May yet be saved by your passionate mind,
For unconditional love you don't have to look far:
remember all those thoughts in ink and bound pages ever so kind.
Under the moon in the dim candlelight
From printed pages, true friends speak magic lines;
Pay heed Prince, by them be inspired, comforted and psyched,
For the voices belong to fellow hermits, your teachers,

so, i'll cry with you tonight
we'll lose ourselves in the stars
within the branches of the pink dogwoods
because we cannot touch
love.
i watched them massacre you
from behind a pexi-glass screen
as anger pulsed an elevating pain in my ears
so, lie next to me tonight
you'll lose yourself with my amnesia kisses
because you've never touched
love.

Through war and peace I've wrecked
Reasons for life I inspect
Nothing on this rock is perfect
We're like an insect
With an intellect
Preservation we neglect
the planet will die from us, direct
as we dissect
disrespect
we spread and infect
what did you expect
as we defect
all of life will feel the effect
If we continue unchecked
there will be nothing left to protect
