Myths About Circumcision You Likely Believe (pt 1)Original article by Lillian Dell'Aquila Cannon and Darcia Narvaez. I'm sharing what was posted via Psychology Today. This was not written by 8manderz8Myths About Circumcision You Likely Believe (pt 1)3 years ago in Personal More Like This
When I was pregnant with my first child, I just thought that circumcision was what you did, no big deal, and that every man was circumcised. Then one day I saw a picture of a baby being circumcised, and everything changed. Just one tiny, grainy photo was enough to make me want to know more, and the more I knew, the worse it got. It turns out, circumcision really is a big deal.
Part 1 - Circumcision Surgery Myths
Myth 1: They just cut off a flap of skin.
Reality check: Not true. The foreskin is half of the penis's skin, not just a flap. In an adult man, the foreskin is 15 square inches of skin. In babies and children, the

We constantly hear Republicans talk about religion, patriotism, family values, socialism, class warfare and redistribution of wealth. They'll say that 47 percent of Americans pay zero taxes, but they won't say the middle class pays 61 percent of the federal budget, the poor pay 18 percent, and the wealthiest only pay 20 percent. They also won't mention the sales, property, state, gas and excise taxes we pay. Those get raised when the wealthy and mega-corps aren't paying on the federal level. When the feds aren't helping the states, taxes get raised locally, which places an unfair burden on the middle class and poor.
Republicans talk about cutting more taxes for corporations but never talk about those making billions in profit while paying zero taxes. Why? Because 83 of those top 100 corporations have paid zero taxes almost every year since 2004. In 2009 alone, the top 100 made $443 bil

HalpThese days I draw because I feel like I SHOULD be drawing, and I'm not enjoying it as much as I used to the more I tell myself I should draw more, and draw better, the less I want to draw and the less inspired I feel. I'm trying to become more professional and disciplined, but it's sucking away my passion for art.Halp3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Completing a nice ink drawing has always given me a unique feeling of accomplishment, but I always just drew for fun. I miss that.
It could be the stresses of moving away and trying to get enough money to do so, that is distracting me and making me want to draw less.
Have you ever lost your passion? what did you do to find it again?
should I just stop drawing for a while until the genuine urge to draw comes back?
Thanks guys! you mean the world to me

Getting a Job in the Intelligence Community: What You Need to Know
D.B. Grady - December 17, 2012
At one point or another, everyone wants to be a spy when they grow up. There’s a certain unattainable quality to it, though—it has an absurd ring on par with wanting to be Superman or Batman. But it is a realistic, achievable goal. So question remains: If you’re sixteen and want to one day join the intelligence community, how should you begin preparing? Tradecraft isn’t exactly a checkbox on a college application (usually), although, as the Washington Post reported last year, schools in the Ft. Meade, MD area
“are adopting a curriculum... that will teach students as young as ten what kind of lifestyle it takes to get a security clearance and what kind of behavior would disqualify them.”

The vibrant digital paintings of alicexz are fiery, emotional, and incredibly memorable.
The colors of her creations (mostly portraits of popular TV and Film characters) are unusually vibrant, which is remarkable considering how layered they appear to be. It’s sort of like what manga characters might look like if painted by one of the Dutch Masters. And this artist exhibits just the right amount of quirkiness to leave us wanting to know more: she has a penchant for painting redheads. But, then of course, there’s a lot of red and golden fire burning through most her artworks.

Well to be honest pineapples were the first thing that I thought of as I was signing in for the first time... Dave is my name, so......yeah.
I thought about changing it as I got my first premium membership but I kinda like it now, so I might as well stick with it.
Just kidding, I'm a pineapple, thats the only reason why.
2. What fandom were you obsessed with when you joined and what are you into now?
Nothing in particular. I'm obsessed with rabbits tho, does that count?

Hi I’m Andrea Dotta: a Pro comic artist and animator and one year ago I had the insane idea of making a powerful webcomic to show my works to more people as possible. Now I’m in a positive development towards my goal. If you want to do a webcomic, always do your best as their are millions of webcomics on the internet.
In this article, I would like to share the things that I’ve learned this year so I hope you will get something from me.
IDEA: There are no bad ideas, there are only ideas that are not developed. To develop your idea, you need to be authentic - think of your real life experiences to give credibility to your story. If you need a sad story, think of a sad story in your life. If you want a happy story, think and say what i

I will be leaving dA for two years..Hey my awesome watchers and friends!I will be leaving dA for two years..2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Well, yes, like the title says, I will be leaving dA for two years as of the 18th of April, so in about a week. This is a tough decision, as dA has become an important part of my life, because I am actually trying to build up a living with my art. But you should know, that I am a Mormon (Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.. ) and I am 18, close to 19, so I am going on a mission. That means I will be going to the Alpine region (Switzerland, Austria, South-Germany) and talk to the people about what I believe in. You have to know, that this is something I carefully considered and I have a strong belief in God and so I want to share the joy my religion has brought me. The mission will be for two years and I wont have the time to upload any art to dA. My sister PixieCold will keep you up to date through journals on my page here, so you know what I am doing and how my life is going!

A Crash Course in Slam PoetryThere are ten days left to submit to the Louder Than dA Bomb submission folder. With that being said, I'm putting out an article that offers some tips and quick solutions to problems a poet may be facing when writing their slam poem. But very quickly, I would like to address a stigma surrounding submitting "great" work to contests.A Crash Course in Slam Poetry2 years ago in Art Features More Like This
I'll keep this brief. The world is not set to your pace. Or anyone else's really. Everybody's just trying to keep up. This line of thinking can't be taken to the publishing industry (for those that would like to publish) or anywhere else for that matter. Applying the thought to your art or literature that unless it was created under certain circumstances is to not take your work seriously.
If you don't believe you can write and read a slam poem in ten days, I'm here to tell you different and to tell you the ins and outs of slam.

I took a poem about the lovely Hfeather53, written by intricately-ordinary, from her devID to use here:

deep in her thoughts of past

I have to admit, I'm guilty of not browsing all of the galleries as much as I should. I love the Artisan Crafts world and I often get lost in its galleries and forget about the rest, so this time I went through all of the galleries looking for awesome art for this article, and I discovered forms of art I didn't even know about! It was a fantastic experience and I hope this series of articles will encourage you to do the same.

I have a few good contacts that helped me get a place in the crew, apart from that I had to do 6 months of live sound training prior in this place in Dublin to just apply for it. Luckily i succeeded and I ended up latching on to the Europe tour in 2011. I'm only young (I was the baby of the tour) and last year, which was my Sophomore year, you don't do that much in Ireland so my school gave me a month's leave but I was away for about 3 weeks, the 4th week was for recovery and getting used to decent food again.
2.What exactly did you have to do?
I had a few different jobs. My main one had the title of 'Audio Technician' if you want to be exact but it's just fancy for roadie, I did some work on the front of house (the soundboard) and made sure that everything was working and plugged in. I also carried a shit load of guitars and brought equipment to and from places which is much much much harder than it sounds, especially if yo

I, IcarusLoveMedley, have finally used my video editing degree to make something helpful for doll people. Me? Productive? Yeaaah… sometimes.
When I first got into the hobby I had NO bloody clue how to do anything, The only reason I learned was I had wonderful friends like Tolin and Cats10 to show me step by step how to maintain my doll. I filmed and made this tutorial for others out there who are like me and learn by seeing.
Hope this is some help to you wonderful people out there! I’ll see if I can talk ErrorAuthor into doing a tutorial on creating patterns for sueding as she’s a BOSS at it.
In Defense Of Making A Living Through ArtThere's a frustrating element I've noticed lately in regards to Art. "Art with a capital 'A'", as a friend of mine calls it. And I suppose this blog was triggered by the cancellation of the My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic fan game Fighting is Magic. The fandom lost its collective shit because Hasbro sent the developers a Cease and Desist letter. The entitlement was just amazing to watch, and even worse was the sheer ignorance. Some of it stupid, like "Technically, all fanworks are parodies, so it's not illegal!" and "Copyright laws are so stupid!" to cruel, like "They can just take their development overseas, then Hasbro can't stop them!"In Defense Of Making A Living Through Art2 years ago in Personal More Like This
I was baffled by this. Because Hasbro had the right to protect their intellectual property.
See, I've been a freelance artist for a while now. And it's hard. It is so freaking hard, and part of the reason it's hard is because the default attitude of most people you deal with is, "We're not, like, going to pay you a lot. Or give you i

I saw them first in 2006 here on dA and I wanted to get them so bad!
Whenever I had side money to buy stuff, there were other things I needed t get and it's never easy to buy a +$300 worth of tools in one go. Yeah, I could've bought them separately but somehow I didn't do that either, and it's not like it's cheaper that way on the long run.
Thankfully, to god for his blessings, to all of you who bought stuff from me and of course to MangaMagazine.net for their amazing service and constant support for indie creators, I have better income this year than the last. I have a bit of stability and I was able update my tools (digital and traditional) these past 2 months (and one left this month hopefully), without any help from my father, who has always been supportive; financially and emotionally.
I hope they all come as good investments in the end.
So, it all sounds romantic right now, but I had my share of
