I've thought long and hard and have decided to change it toooooo.......
That's right; i'm one of the few artists here on DA that seems content with my name. That; and I think changing a "brand" simply because you can, after you've spent time and energy building up an audience is f**king stupid.
I've been here for years. I've operated on the internet under "jollyjack" for longer. If I changed that now it would be monumentally confusing to people that follow my work, which, in turn, would have an effect on revenue.
There are a ton of artists here whose work I keenly follow, and I think they're kinda shooting themselves in the foot by doing this.
Kinda reminds be of those little label-making things everyone's been given on at least one Christmas as a kid: you unwrap it, you find out what it does and you spend the rest of the day punching out new tags for everything. Even if they'
Want to make an Anime? Dai Sato tells you how.I know there are a lot of foreign art/animation fans here on DA, fans of works and artists from Europe and Japan. The AvengersYou know that giddy, gleeful feeling that renders you incapable of doing little more than giggle like a lunatic? The Avengers3 years ago in Personal More Like This
I pretty much had that from start to finish during the Avengers film (Which was released on Fair Blighty's shores as "Avengers Assemble" thanks to the past efforts of Steed and Peel).
There have only been a handful of movies that invoked that kind of response in me: Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, Abram's Star Trek, Ritchie's Sherlock Holmes and the first Iron Man film are those which immediately spring to mind.
Indeed; Avengers is THE best Marvel movie since Iron Man. Ace cast, brilliant story, hysterical script, a scene that will stab anyone that's followed the films leading up to this point right through the heart and a fair few more surprises.
Chief among them being; how the hell did the Hulk become such a f**king awesome character after so many naff films?
I'm gonna go see this one again!

Well....if by "world" he means "Pakistan".....
....and I think that's probably down to Obama giving the greenlight to the operation that saw US Special Forces conduct a cross-border raid into Pakistan which resulted in a very dead Bin Laden. They're still kinda cranky about that.
Posted for no reason other than that it's really, really funny.
Disney closes LucasArtsF**k you, Disney. F**k you.Disney closes LucasArts2 years ago in Personal More Like This
If you are not angered by this news, you're obviously a very young gamer and probably (rightly) see LucasArts as nothing more than a mediocre-Star-Wars-title-discharging-sewer-pipe.
Disney bought LucasFilm because of the Star Wars cash-cow, but the number of classic IPs produced by LucasArts throughout the 90s makes the descision to close it rather than attempt to return to the studio to its glory days pretty staggering.
I actually see way more potential in LucasArts IPs than Star Wars.....but then, so would anyone with even the most stunted of creative minds.
Disney obviously still own all the properties, but the LucasArts brand is gone, and it's the end of an era, even if they start picking at the corpse for ideas to ruin.

been a wacky, ultra-busy couple of weeks but who cares about that, what is important is:
1. New pages of DK start up tomorrow morning
2. Look what just showed up and I had to share with you immediately, couldn't even wait to find a proper backdrop/decent lighting
SO HAVE YOU DEMANDED IT
SO SHALL IT BE
Better photos/order info coming VERY soon
(note: that was as high as the graphic could be printed, but it actually works out pretty perfectly since a full shot takes you just beyond the top of the meter. you'll see when I get some photos with some WHISKEY in there)
(note 2: print quality is REALLY nice, my camera is balls and totally does not capture it)
Just...hhnngggg!!!Okay, I'm sorry about not being able to post as regularly as I used to, but for pete's sake, people, I have a life too. And lately, I've been buried in a shit-ton of homework and projects, and rarely get anymore freetime. I literally get more homework after every single class I take, and this is the kind of homework you need at least one full day to finish. During the few times I do get some freetime, I don't exactly want to spend it drawing comics. Please remember that I'm a human too, living a human life which includes school and family. I don't draw 24/7, and I'm sure neither do you. So please, please stop asking me about new updates, or telling (nay, ordering) me to update my comic on a daily basis like I used to. I planned to ignore these at first, but then it just really got on my nerves. I'm all major subjects this semester, and as you can probably imagine, it's driving me crazy with stress. I hardly get anymore sleep, and I realize I'm just ranting now, butJust...hhnngggg!!!3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Here comes the Olympiad!Just a week to go until we embarrass ourselves in front of the world. Here comes the Olympiad!3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Millions (Billions?) of Pounds and what do we get? A stadium with (inexplicably) a strange vision of the English countryside in it (http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/2012/jun/12/london-2012-olympic-opening-ceremony), and a mutant pylon (http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/olympics/8855623/London-2012-Olympics-UKs-tallest-sculpture-completed-on-Olympic-Park.html) which is not and never will be a monument "as iconic as the Eiffel Tower".
Commedian Marcus Brigstocke described the British attitude toward the Olympics quite well a few years ago: http://www.youtube.com/watch?vJEH9P0hgCw&featurelayer_detailpage#t=373s
Truth be told: I've never been that fussed when it comes to the Olympics, regardless of where in the world it's held. It's just this time I'll be thinking "NO! Who greenlit that? They did WHAT during the opening ceremony? Where's that Boyle bastard? I'm gonna kill him".
...........AND WHAT'S ALL THIS ABOUT THE
SteamToday I finally got a Steam Account. I know, I know, I'm late to all these things. Part of that is because my old computer wasn't good enough to run a lot of games, and the other part is since I got my Mac I've been rather busy with my comics that I haven't really had time to sit down and play.Steam3 years ago in Personal More Like This
But for whatever it's worth, I did get a Steam Account and have been trying it out. I rather like it, actually, though I am disappointed in the number of Mac compatible games available. At least a bunch of really good games like Portal, Braid, Limbo, and Bit.Trip are here. Steam is what I think all video game consoles will someday morph into... and it's most definitely a step in the right direction. It's got it's kinks that still need ironing out, but it excels in the most important areas such as friendly user interfaces and ease of purchase.
I'm absolutely loving portal. I knew all the references from before (I might not play a lot of games but I do lurk the internetz) and I knew of the basic g
Sherlock vs ElementaryThe concept of taking the world's greatest detective out of his Victorian era setting and dropping him into 21st Century London shouldn't have worked. It should have failed as miserably as I thought it would.Sherlock vs Elementary3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Hooooo. Was I proven wrong on that one.
The scant six episodes of Sherlock contain some of the best material the BBC has ever produced and proved that the detective can work his deductive wizardry in any time period.
Which is probably why CBS have gone all Chinese and are ripping it off.
When I heard that there was going to be an "American version" of the show; the eye twitched but didn't bat. This happens, and often HAS to happen. A show must fit with the scheduling, and US series are a lot longer than those on British TV, so things have to be stretched.
THEN I learned that it's NOT a remake of BBC's Sherlock, but a brand new series called "Elementary", which is "radically" different because it's set in New York.
Unsurprisingly, the Beeb are a bit miffed by this.
In this, wholly

Takes a while to get used to, though. Certain things (usually insults) just sound better when said with the right accent, be it English or American.

Please consider the following criteria when you make your list... READ ALL OF THIS VERY CAREFULLY BEFORE YOU SUBMIT ANYTHING!
-Quality of animation: not necessarily style, but does it look like some effort was put into it.
-The music (if applicable) Is the tune catchy? Well-executed? Etc.
-Is it unique? How so?
-If it's not unique, does it have historical significance? Was it one of the first to pioneer something that later openings copied? ie: Many of the WB cartoon opening of the 90s follow a formula set by "Tiny Toon Adventures"
-Does it get you excited or at least interested in wa
Day by day and squirrelAfter losing my mom, I've felt very strange (sad and empty strange) by every day, but I think it's normal. Everyday life goes slow and carefully and I spend a lot of time with my family and I cry when I feel so (that's means a lot of crying, mostly at nights). This will most likely take years, but I'm ready to go through it. Thanks for all who supported me and strength to all who have experienced the same or worse.Day by day and squirrel3 years ago in Personal More Like This
But I'm still doing something. Working keeps me somehow sane and my works includes art, house cleaning, paper works and sorting stuff. And at fall I can go back into office-works too.
An example of my doings lately: Here is a picture of me when I was varnishing a ceramic hawk, which I repainted in our storage. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v292/volkerinvasion/005.png
I had to use a gas mask because that varnish was heck of a poison.
And one question. Why squirrel licks the mountain ash's leafs? I saw this squirrel doing so and I've never seen it before: http://img.photob

Ok, so most of you pinoy peeps have already heard about the new 4G LTE mobile network from Smart.
What is it? Probably the fastest mobile internet in the country, cuz it's 4G man! With a speed of up to 42mbps it's perfect for downloading hd movies in minutes, lagless gaming ... as advertised.
I was pretty excited when I heard of it, sounds awesome eh? Unfortunately there's a downside.
It has cap of 10 Gigs. What's that mean? Someone commented that it's like getting a new super fast ferrari car and you can only drive it for 10 kilometers, after that they'll charge you
for every kilometer your take. How much? It's P500 per Gig.
It's pretty fucked up, they say it's competitive price.
Well majority of the Filipinos here don't exactly have big salaries. What kind of idiot would wish for this kind of robbery?
Why do they call themselves Smart? They should at least advertise that this service only caters to the rich. In fact, I think even rich people wouldn't want this

Deeply saddened. It is with sadness that I report the loss of Neil Armstrong today.Deeply saddened.3 years ago in Personal More Like This
I admit I am still somewhat at a loss for words.
I thought many times during the Olympics that I was watching real heroes, not like those professional athletes crying for more money back home.
I am reminded this afternoon that there is a level of hero above that, who sets aside his instinctive fear and sense of self-preservation to ride the most powerful controlled (barely) explosion ever made by humans. And to journey to lands so far beyond the reach of help.
Articulate even at the end, Neil will be missed by his family and friends, and we will feel ourselves somewhat desolate for the absence of this extraordinary pilot and explorer.
God Speed, Neil, you go ahead of us. We will meet again someday.

The AWA Touhou Scroll ProjectAs you have no doubt heard, ZUN will be making an appearance at Anime Weekend Atlanta from September 27th - 29th. Here are the details:
What is the AWA Touhou Scroll Project?
I would like the Western Touhou Community to create a long scroll that will contain art of all the Windows Touhou characters, done by artists within the Western Touhou Community, starting with Embodiment of Scarlet Devil and going through Forbidden Scrollery (and anything else that comes out before AWA)
This scroll will be given as a gift, from the fans to ZUN, at AWA to show our gratitude for the many years he has worked on the Touhou Project.
So what kind of work will this consist of?
This is where things get more complicated: There are a total of 82 Touhou Characters in the Windows series, and I would like each of them represented o
Versus Challenge: Brains vs. BrawnHey gang,Versus Challenge: Brains vs. Brawn3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Let’s try our hand at another “Versus Challenge!” This time, I thought it might be fun to use the theme of… BRAINS VS. BRAWN!
Here are the RULES: http://2ajoe.deviantart.com/gallery/?catpath=scraps#/d55qvm1
Your goal is to design TWO characters that act as each other’s RIVALS.
1. Your first character MUST use their BRAINS (smarts, intelligence).
2. Your second character MUST use their BRAWN (strength, muscles).
Try to focus on how your characters will CONTRAST one another in battle.
Your designs can be sketches or full blown clean-ups with color.
We ask that you ONLY submit NEW designs. If you drew it before the challenge was assigned, it will NOT be accepted. We are only interested in NEW designs created specifically as part of this challenge (it is a challenge after all).
Also, NO FAN ART will be accepted for this challenge.
Finally, please include the DAC GROUP name somewhere in
People need to learn some mannersYou wouldn't walk up to a group of people on the street and start dissing their clothes would you?People need to learn some manners2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Learn some manners and respect, I'm so disappointed in all you "artists" out there dissing and mocking other artists for expressing themselves. Friend groups will exist regardless of whether they have icons to show it or not.
If an artist decides he doesn't want others to use his work or copy it that's his right as the creator.
Instead of being jealous why don't you put that energy to good use and make your own even more amazing things that are not derivative of other's art. Do you really want to be a bad copy of someone else?
