Let's Talk Writing is my news article featuring five different writers that I've discovered here on deviantArt. It will be published every Friday. If you have any suggestions, please feel free to note me. I will take them into consideration. Now, Let's Talk Writing!
Writer #1: :iconsolarumnyx: SolarumNyx
What inspired you to start writing?
A lot of things, really - mostly that urge to express myself in a way that others could understand and sympathize with.
How much do you feel you've improved in the last few years?
God, that question. I can't even begin to explain how much I've improved. I came from the depths of Mary Sue OC Naruto and Hetalia fan fiction and moved on to original fiction. It's really amazing, now that I think about it.
Why do you post your writing to deviantArt?
In all honesty, I te
Inspiring Deviants: LiteratureEveryday, I have the opportunity to meet so many wonderful deviants who continue to inspire me. In the eight years I have shared my writing here, I have had the privilege to meet others who value my passion for Literature and beyond – and have gained so much. From many here I have learned the power of stirring inspiration, delving into our creative passions, and connections in love and friendship. I wanted to spotlight just a few artistic souls who have made a distinctive impact in my life – and to express my deepest gratitude towards them all for making a difference within our Literature community.Inspiring Deviants: Literature2 years ago in Literature Features More Like This

Beta Launch: Improvements to More Like ThisHello everyone!Beta Launch: Improvements to More Like This3 years ago in DeviantArt Announcements More Like This
Last month, we released More Like This to you all, and after gathering your feedback, we've made some changes to better your browsing experience!
Toggling Endless Scrolling: Several members preferred the original paging interface rather than infinite scrolling. With this change, we added the ability to switch between both modes, a setting which will be preserved as you browse.
Optimized Scrolling: We've made some improvements to optimize performance and loading times while browsing with infinite scrolling. The biggest change is that thumbnails on pages that are out of sight will get removed as you scroll, lowering the memory requirements and noticeably improving scrolling performance. Under normal circumstances this should not be visible at all; however, when quickl
Literature Improvements, Emoticon SidebarToday we're bringing you several improvements to your experience with literature and Journals on deviantART!Literature Improvements, Emoticon Sidebar3 years ago in DeviantArt Announcements More Like This
Updates to Literature Appearance
We've made some changes to the way literature and Journals display on deviantART. In order to provide a more unified experience, we've updated the format of literature deviations and Journals to better display your text, as well as to optimize the reading experience for your readers!
In addition to the updated background, we've made sure that familiar tools for readers have been retained with the new layout. Readers can change the background from light to dark, enlarge the text, and more, using the buttons presented at the top of each literature deviation.
Try it out: You can give this feature a try by going to BeccaJS's Biscui

Writer #1: :icondistortified: distortified
What inspired you to start writing?
I couldn't really tell you, to be honest. I just did it, since I could. I always loved reading, so of course that fueled the fire, but there was always just some story unfolding in the back of my head, and it seemed only natural to write it out. Stephen King inspired me a lot as an artist, and I had a family full of readers that always encouraged me, but I can't think of any one catalyst that definitively got me started.
How much do you feel you've improved in the last few years?
Tremendously. Specifically the last three

You don't know it, but your pet is actually a...One day, Phillip Buster had an idea. Not many people lived on the Earth yet, and his tribe relied on hunting and gathering to survive. Wolves were good at hunting, he mused. Wouldn't it be interesting to have them work for him?You don't know it, but your pet is actually a...2 years ago in Personal More Like This
He managed to get some wolves into possession and carefully put them together to have cubs. Neither Jeans nor genes were known at his time, but Phillip did know that children looked different from their parents and also exhibited different personalities. Maybe the wolves would eventually have an offspring that his tribe could use.
Genes are the blueprints of a being, how it is shaped, how it grows and in many ways even how it behaves. But these blueprints don't copy perfectly. There are small alterations, changes, and so a new animal would always be slightly different from the animals that came before. Perhaps it would have the tendency to be more playful, or it may be better at sniffing, or it may be friendlier towards other beings, such as Phillip himself.

Advice for inspired studentswhat is it like to work on a webcomic?Advice for inspired students1 year ago in Personal More Like This
A: Webcomics is really just comics hosted online... so for webcomic advice I really just have one advice, just do it. Don't think too deeply about it other wise you will have trouble starting. Don't think you need perfect drawing, don't think you need perfect story, just go and work at it eventually you will get to where you want. Here's an inspiration: www.mangahere.com/manga/onepun…
Once you start and get stuck somewhere, then search for a follow-up advice or come to me again.
How did it help with animation if at all?
A: I think it helps with discipline, and you become familiar with your own timing because of steady update, you also draw constantly so your speed is faster, ready to be trained into animator, it also helps with your ability to draw

Take a moment to introduce yourself. Tell me a bit about your interests and your writing.
Well my username is Rose-vi-Britannia but since that is a mouthful you can just call me Britannia. I respond to it almost better than my actual name but that's another story. I'm currently an English Writing Major at University in Southern California. My interests are pretty cookie-cutter: Anime, Online Gameing, Reading, Cosplay, lurking on dA/tumblr, procrastination school work, oh and Homestuck. Don't forget the Homestuck. As for my writing, i

Inferno Canto XXX.V by LuckySlugger
Inferno rewritten using the Terza Rima scheme. A fitting tribute to Dante Alighieri.
Well written and true to the original, this adaptation of Inferno is a feat of skill and dedication. Clocking in at 1150 words, this is a worthwhile for anyone interested in structured poetry.

My Near-Fatal Road Trips, IllustratedRecently Dad and I took another three-day road trip across the United States to a place where we won't roast alive this summer, while Mom, fenhydra and Katie--Rose flew to our destination. Dad and I drove contentedly, stopping occasionally to eat or buy gas, listening to audiobooks, and feeling happy that we hadn't risked death like we did last time.My Near-Fatal Road Trips, Illustrated2 years ago in Deviant Events More Like This
Then, during our third and final day on the road, we stopped at Dairy Queen to buy ice cream and returned to the interstate highway. Dad was eating and driving at the same time, while I was fiddling with the radio so we could listen to music. Suddenly while we were going at about 70 mph, we saw this staring us in the face:
Then it moved to the other lane.
Luckily, Dad had previously noticed the truck at an intersection, and after a minute of wondering "IS THAT TRUCK FACING BACKWARDS IN THE INTERSECTION!?" he got a better view and saw that it was being towed. Nevertheless, it was a perfect photo opportunity.
Since I never told you
A New Way to Make SuggestionsHello Beta Testers!A New Way to Make Suggestions2 years ago in DeviantArt Announcements More Like This
For some time we've been running a limited test of the Ideas Forum on our Zendesk Help Desk integration. Today, we're expanding this test to our Beta Testers.
This forum allows for a great deal of flexibility in how we approach suggestions.
We can mark items that are planned, completed, or not planned at this time. We can also highlight staff responses on forums, giving more weight to responses that are important in informing deviants why we can, or cannot, take a suggestion into consideration at this time.
Deviants can vote on one anothers' posts, giving greater community control over what content is reviewed. The more votes, the higher the suggestion will appear in the forum! Unlike our current forum, threads don't expire, and when creating a new thread you'll be prompted with similar threads.
These are only a few of the features the new forum has, but altogether our testing has shown thus far that
Best place on the web?I wanted to share a few facts about a company that is very dear to my heart:Best place on the web?2 years ago in Personal More Like This
It's been my favourite place on the web for about seven years now. It also has some impressive little-known stats - it's the sixth biggest social network in the world. It has 28 million users. It set the standard for the user icon, and incorporated the first 'like' button. It was also, apparently, the first social network, 12 years ago.
I love it because I find it to be a wonderfully positive environment - way less haters than pretty much any site I ever invested any time in. It's supportive of creators, whatever level they are at. It encourages diversity, and doesn't judge it's users, no matter what they are into (pretty much!), writers, artists and photographers all.
It also, many people don't know, sponsored artist's alley at SDCC, keeping it in the main hall, laying down a soft carpet to spare feet, and providing padded chairs. It sponsored Tr!ckster, and the Spectrum convention. It genuinely - and I mean
