Apophysis 7X 15C - Hotfixes!I have compiled a few hotfixes for the recent 15C release:Apophysis 7X 15C - Hotfixes!1 year ago in Personal More Like This
+ Fixed the MT renderer - was not properly reading transform opacity values
+ Fixed render log - was showing "32 bit integer" still
+ Changed the default settings so they comply with UAC-enabled systems
+ Fixed loonie variation code - had potential division by zero
+ Added scripting back in 32 bit-version - waiting for TMS to deliver 64 bit-support
+ Added a few one-click helper scripts to simplify things like settings reset and running 7X lite

Apophysis 7X Console Renderer - UPDATE 2For all the techies (and animators) out there: I have something for you! I present: a console interface for Apophysis 7X! Now you can easily batch, script and stack your renders. Here are some core features:Apophysis 7X Console Renderer - UPDATE 21 year ago in Personal More Like This
Stable multithreading for single-, dual-, quad-, hexa- and octa-core systems
Render your flame files as if they were a set of keyframes (like with Apophymator) - even with different amounts of transforms per flame
Make use of automatic plugin downloading (and the massive heap of new built-in variations)
Experience faster rendering through optimization of the rendering core
This build features a set of variations which were built-in from existing plugins (to reduce the need of .DLL plugins):
- log (derived from *zy0rg's logn plugin; includes the "base" variable)
- epispiral (derived from *cyberxaos' Epispiral plugin; corrected name to be all-lowercase as defined by the naming convention)
- bwraps (derived from bwraps2; removed the "2" in the name)
Apophysis 7X 15C - Hotfixes #3Two things changed:Apophysis 7X 15C - Hotfixes #31 year ago in Personal More Like This
+ Added color curves dialog
+ Fixed plugin recognition routines. Variations, which were already built-in were loaded anyway which lead to an "Access Violation" storm in the editor. Thanks again ~morphapoph for tracking the origin of the problem in such a masterful way!
The color curves dialog is very simple and straight forward. Works like the one in Photoshop. Or Chaotica. Or GIMP...and it's not perfect. It's a new feature and maybe a bit bugged. But we'll see how much better it gets over time

A few common Apo7X15C problems and their fixesI get an error about Apophysis7X.rand and/or Apophysis.undo when I start ApophysisA few common Apo7X15C problems and their fixes1 year ago in Personal More Like This
It's a Vista/7-issue which spawned after using Delphi XE2 as the main compiler (since 15C) You have multiple possibilities:
1. Right click the Apophysis shortcut or EXE-file and select "Properties". Go to the "Compatibility" tab and check "Run as administrator". Try again.
2. Copy your Apophysis folder to the desktop (or "My Documents") and try running it from that location.
3. Go to the control panel and disable UAC ("User account control")
A permanent fix is on the way.
I get a crap ton of access violations when I open Apophysis and/or the Editor window
My assumption is that there is an incompatibility in your settings. Reset them the following way:
1. Exit Apo, hold the Windows-Key and hit "R" on your keyboard. Enter "regedit" and hit return.
2. On the left side, browse to "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software" and find the folder "Apophysis 7X".
3. Right click that folder and click "Delete".
Apophysis 7X 15C - Installer available nowI have made an installer for Apophysis 7X 15C available at xyrus-worx.orgApophysis 7X 15C - Installer available now1 year ago in Personal More Like This
Please be aware that this installer is for Microsoft Windows only. It comes in two versions: for the 32 bit and the 64 bit version of Apophysis 7X 15C. The two versions can be installed side-by-side. Even in a single folder (but be careful - you might not want to uninstall the 32 bit version if you have the 64 bit version in the same folder so I recommend keeping the folders separate)
Unlike for the ZIP-package, 32- and 64 bit version do not come in a single file!
Currently, the german, italian and chinese language packs are shipped with the installer. The other language packs are outdated and for the vanilla version 7x15 only.
The 32 bit-installer offers you to install a collection of DC-plugins as well as two sample scripts. Please mind that upon uninstallation, these plugin .DLL-files will be removed even if they were there before. This also app
Chaotica 0.48 for WindowsDownload for Windows 32/64bit: http://chaoticafractals.com/chaotica_0.48_win_noncommercial.zipChaotica 0.48 for Windows1 year ago in Personal More Like This
This release is mainly a bugfix release for the 0.47 beta, with many improvements to the user interface fixing issues such as the fractal not scaling when you changed resolution, imaging settings being spuriously reset and not saved properly etc. Hopefully it's a bit more friendly to use now It'll still crash if you try to restore state without having the original params loaded, that'll be fixed in the next release.
Another important change in this build is restored native support for bipolar, thanks to code `XyrusWorx provided from Apo7X15C beta 3. I'm hoping the small difference in handling the divide by zero and negative log etc will finally enable full compatibility - please test this and report if something looks wrong!
* Changed copyright to Glare Technologies Ltd.
* Added Glare Tech's Winter scripting language (not exposed yet)
* Added batch rendering

Apophysis 7X - 15DI finally managed to upload an update for Apophysis 7X. In version 15D, I added support for 64-bit plugins and scripts in the 64-bit version plus some bugfixes for both versions.Apophysis 7X - 15D8 months ago in Personal More Like This

Apophysis 7X 15C - Hotfixes #2!An updated version of Apophysis 7X15C is hitting the servers right now. The changes are:Apophysis 7X 15C - Hotfixes #2!1 year ago in Personal More Like This
+ Added possibility to specify a custom plugin path for the 32 bit version
+ Fixed bipolar variation (wrong constant used in preparation routine - M_2_PI is not 2 * PI. Thanks, Fred!)
+ Fixed "X"-button next to the search field
+ Fixed a memory leak in the renderer
+ Changed the 32 bit version to use 32 bit-floats (instead of double precision = 64 bit floats) which results in less memory use in the 32 bit version and higher image quality in the 64 bit version
+ Changed Chaotica integration so that 64 bit Chaotica is enforced if 64 bit Apophysis is running
I'm sorry for the update frequency but that's how it is in the first days after a new major release! People are actively tracking bugs and report the results to me. And I fix them and release hotfixes Once we - as a community - tracked down all the (not so hidden) bugs, the update frequency will drop to normal again

Final-Transform fix for 15DHey guysFinal-Transform fix for 15D6 months ago in Personal More Like This
I know it's been some time but I'm having hell of a release going on here. So I just didn't came to check on what's wrong with the saving of final transforms. I finally made it so that I'm not there 7am to 10pm every day. This means: it's fixing time.
To provide you with an acceptable solution, I just reverted the behavior of FXes to the one of 15C. So that you at least get to use 64 bit plugins / scripts AND final xforms
Here it is: http://download.xyrus-worx.org/apophysis/apo7x-15d_hf1.zip
It's a patch so just replace the EXE files in your installation. If you didn't update yet, you can with this. In this case, you also just replace the EXE files. Remember the release notes from the original 15D package, though. It contains valuable information on how to use 64 bit plugins and compile multi-architecture plugins (32/64) from existing and new plugin code.
See you soon

Last Honor for a recently passed away deviantHello there fello friends, watchers and deviants...Last Honor for a recently passed away deviant8 months ago in Tributes More Like This
One week ago was a sad day for the family of :iconkram666: and the deviant community.
He passed away at the age of only 48. Him who was so dedicated to digital art will never leave anyone of us a comment or reply to those given to him. He will never again fill our inboxes with his colorful fractals or cute photos of the foxes.
But even if his body has passed away - he will stay alive within us and within the art in his gallery.
I'm sure that he is somewhere where he can still appreciate our support of his art, so this is my hommage to a wonderful artist AND his family.
With heartfelt condolences,

My flesh and bone life has been and continues to be complicated in so many ways since at least 2 years ago.
If there are any Deviant personal injury lawyers that can help a poor old fellow out, my gratitude would be immeasurable.
From all the reading about laws I've been through it appears I have more than enough cause to bring the problems I face to a court to judge. (But legal systems are intensely complex, so I do not have any way to know without professional help.)

C4D/Blender Hey guys!C4D/Blender9 months ago in Personal More Like This
I was having a look at the greyscalegorilla http://greyscalegorilla.com/blog/ light setup that you will see in these following pictures:
I think you get the idea...
Anywho! I took a look at it in C4D and, although amazing, I noticed how complicated it was, and tried to reproduce it in Blender's Cycles render engine.
Here's the light setup in Cinema 4D:
Here's my reproduction setup in Blender/Cycles:
Here's my result:
While not perfect, it's a fair representation of the GSG version, and I only used one plane divided into three parts. Left is orange, middle is yellow, and right is light blue...bypassing the softboxes and the red and dark blue colors on the ends.
Just thought I'd share, in no way am I saying "don't buy his light kits!", because he makes some really cool stuff, as well as makes some fantastic tutorials
