Royce dipped his darkened muzzle in to the cool water and allowed it to caress and cool his heated skin. The sun, although not as overbearing as it could be, was still relentless even at that time of the morning; Royce was grateful for the summer rains that gave him and his father's herd cool water and refreshing grasses to enjoy at their leisure.
