When selling your work...Keep in mind this:When selling your work...2 years ago in Personal More Like This
800 points = around $10.
400 points = around $5
40 points = ¢50
Do you really want to spend a long amount of time on a drawing only to receive the equivalent of half a dollar?
If you want to share things for cheap or free because you enjoy doing it than by all means do so, but what I'm saying is, don't under value yourself, and for the love of god don't do commissions for 5 or 10 points. You're working for next to nothing if you do that.
What you need to do is find a good place to sell your art so you can sell it at a reasonable fair price that's fair to both you and the buyer. There are places around on dA for this.
Commissions-R-Us say that "A group dedicated to helping people in the search of commissions to be made, allowing them to find somebody to request a commission from deviants at different ways to pay, such as using the Deviantart Points, paypal, etc.
We also have a Priority Commission List for those who are in need of money! Please check them out

How To Write A Critique For A ProfessionalProfessionals like myself will occasionally ask for a critique on something or other that we've done. I'm going to explain how to do a critique for someone like myself. I'm going to tell you now that this was brought on by a critique I received from someone who never did a critique before and had no idea how to do it.How To Write A Critique For A Professional2 years ago in Art Features More Like This
Read Other Critiques
The worse thing you can do for yourself is write a critique when you have no idea what you're doing. It will be promptly rejected as it's very obvious to the person reading it. If you've never written one the best thing you CAN do is look at some critiques from other people. Example, I'm a writer so look at critiques that were done on other literature pieces. Also keep in mind that I'm a novelist so look for critiques for short stories instead of poetry or lyrics. They're a completely different genre.
If you're going to say something negative about a piece explain why you think it's bad and make sugge
Update on my Stolen Art FolderMy art folder, full of my progress works and a whole heap of notes, sketches and thumbnails was stolen over a week ago. Most of you will remember I put up an appeal for the thieves to give it back.Update on my Stolen Art Folder1 year ago in Personal More Like This
Well, I went back to the shopping center it was stolen in. I'd already checked with the concierge to see if it had been handed in Tuesday last week, but they had nothing, so my hope was fairly thin. It was more the desperate hope of a person who KNOWS they've lost something, but just can't give p and admit it's gone. Not just yet.
Well, it was lucky I didn't. The lady at the desk remembered me, and as I asked in that weak little miserable tone one gets when you expect the answer to be platitudes and apologies she brightened up and opened up the cupboard behind her. "A T2 bag, wasn't it?" DARE I hope that she had it? After all, T2 bags are really all the same and I can't be the only one to have lost it...
But sure enough, there it was! Drawing folder and all! More amazing still wa
Alicorn TwilightAt the moment, the episode has not come out yet. Though, alicorn Twilight has been something hinted at since season one, and as a writer I am excited to see change and appreciate the possibility of having some clarity on the mythology of Equestria. I highly doubt the show creators would break the friendship of the characters, nor would they make Twilight "Outlive" her friends. Remember who the target audience is: Young, impressionable little girls with dreams of being their own princess in some way. To see a character they are familiar with becoming a princess, not from being related to royalty but instead from her own hard work and diligence is inspiring for a young child.Alicorn Twilight2 years ago in Personal More Like This
We've seen many princesses who are given this role from the start. Our poor, Disney girls always pining for something more, sitting in their sheltered life longing for a prince or an adventure. Instead, we are seeing a young woman who has EARNED her place as a princess from her kindness, knowledge, and her experienc
Username changedHello little deerlings!Username changed2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Yes! I changed my username. I know! I know! I was BtG six years and people will be confused but I really wanted to change it! I don't regret it! I love my new name!
As you might guess, my new name is inspired by my new persona. (Tamarin is a monkey specie if you didn't know). I've been really wanting to make this place more personal.
As for my old name.... I think I it is time to reveal WHAT BtG stands for... Are you ready? BtG means:
Behind the Grave
Surprised? Here's little fun facts. Behind the grave is my original comic series I created when I was... 14 or 15? It was back then when I was still a HUGE The Nightmare Before Christmas fan and thus inspired by it, BtG is about characters named, Veruka Nocturn (living dead), Edna Ashburton (witch), Walter "Walt" Howard (wereworlf) and Danny the minidemon. (hmm.... how familiar).
Back then I used the comic name on internet because I liked it but now I feel that I should let the comic have the name.
To be an Artist - Advises for Beginners Be patient, progress can´t be forced to happen over night! To be an Artist - Advises for Beginners1 year ago in Personal More Like This
You want to be a great artist? Welcome to the club! Now lets take a look on how that works.
Talent - Whats that?!
Talent, a word with many meanings. For me personally it means to be able to learn certain things faster. Talent doesn´t mean you can draw or built everything without training and learning. You´ll just be faster in learning the skills then an untalented person who would have to exercise maybe twice as long as you.
People say I got talent. But I invested over 10 years of exercise and training in my art, it was hard work.
Expectations - To high?
You draw for a year now and joined dA some months ago and still you´re unnoticed?
It may be depressing, but thats normal. Every artist starts as a beginner. Its like a game, you start on
Don't Drink the Turpentine!Hello folks! I've been meaning to discuss this topic here for a while, but I always forget! Well, this blog's topic is about dunDUNDUUUUN studio safety! Now I know, I know, the majority of you, myself included, don't have a private studio to work out of. Your studio may be you livingroom, bedroom, basement, or garage, but there are definitely precautions to be aware of while you're madly creating art. Note: none of this information is here to scare you or deter you from making whatever art you like, it's simply here to help you develop safe studio practices. So let's get started shall we?Don't Drink the Turpentine!2 years ago in Art Features More Like This
This part is specific to those of you who use traditional materials to make your artwork. The supplies we use today are much MUCH safer than those the old master's used, but there are still chemicals and materials you need to be aware of for your own health and well being (as well as those around you). I'll list the materials by
Dear Departed Is DoneOn September 2nd 2010, I posted the first page of Random Doom's fourth chapter, called Dear Departed. Four years later, I finally posted the last page.Dear Departed Is Done8 months ago in Personal More Like This
WHY THE HECK IT TOOK ME SO LONG?!
Well, this four years have been really important in my life. When I started DD, I was close to finishing my studies and graduating. This was, of course, quite big deal. I had my final thesis to write and I had to find a job. Thankfully I got them all done and I now have a great job as a graphic designer.
That was one thing that affected my comic making time... But of course, there was that one reason that took my interest and eventually lead to another delay. RP groups.
I am not gonna lie, those groups took my interest completely and DD and Random Doom in general was no longer my main interest. But I do not regret it. These RP groups affected my story making skills and eventually it lead to that other delay I mentioned earlier, complete rewriting of RD casts' bios.
I did receive a comment about how this

Dear Whoever it was who Stole my Artwork...Dear sir/madam,Dear Whoever it was who Stole my Artwork...2 years ago in Personal More Like This
You may recall, at around 3pm on Sunday the 3rd of November being in Toys 'R' Us in Knox city shopping center when you happened upon a bright orange and very large T2 bag. You may have even been the ones watching myself and my friend get unusually enthusiastic about small blind bag My Little Pony toys and search madly among them for very specific serial numbers and looking at us askance. I apologize for ignoring your sneering, I am, unfortunately, very used to it and now tend to ignore it.
Maybe you were not these people (who were very rude regardless) and simply happened upon the bag. Either way, not knowing what was in it as it contained a sealed black box and a pink folder, you took it- STOLE it, rather than hand it in.
You probably know by now, as you have had more than enough chance to open all the item
Random Doom vs Group ArtHello little *yaawn*. Uh! Sorry, I woke up early today. Thanks to my brother's dog, I've been waking up 6 a.m. These days..Random Doom vs Group Art2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Anyway, there are some things I want to talk about. In recent days, I've gotten quite many questions about Random Doom and when I am gonna update it and/or if I have stopped making it. People ask this even in my group related art! Which I honestly find a bit rude....
Groups... I'll get back to them in a bit but I need to say something first... I am and I try to be very positive person. But honestly... I've been feeling quite sad... Quite sometime. I know I don't show it and honestly I don't want to bother you people with my personal issues but... I've been feeling bad these days. And this is because of this whole Random Doom vs Group art. I LOVE the groups I am in and the people I have met through them and creating art for them is really enjoyable. But every single time I upload a new group art, I can HEAR the collected sighs and feel the disappointment of peopl
