Baby BluesEvelyn closed her eyes in the bathtub, her hands resting on her belly that extended in a lump above the surface of the water. She'd be due any day now, and it was beginning to make her anxious. The apartment was very quiet. Benson was out picking up their dinner for the night and he hadn't gotten back just yet. The silence was a bit jarring to the girl, and the only sound she heard was the small drops of water that dripped from the pipe, rippling around her poor, exhausted, weak-ankled body. Such stress the poor twenty year old had to go through and even after she'd dropped out of college the past semester. Doctor's orders.
She opened her eyes and stared up at the window of his bathroom. It was the same window where she stood when he held her in his arms and told her he loved her, and as Evelyn grew more and more lonely there in the tub, she wished he'd come back soon. The baby was scaring her. It would roll and kick inside her, and it frightened the poor thing. She didn't want to be a
Sick Day"That's cold, Evelyn…" Benson mumbled in his drowsiness. The snow globe beside him, whose eyes remained closed in a light sleep, only smiled as she continued to press the chilled tips of her toes onto his back. Benson turned to look at her and smiled when he saw how she huddled up to him for warmth.Sick Day1 year ago in General Fiction More Like This
It was a very cold morning, one caused by a blizzard coming in the night before, and only when Benson pulled away to start his day did she wake up and look at him.
"Where are you going?" she asked, rubbing her eye. "Come back and be my heater."
"I have work, hon…" he said softy as he held his shivering arms. "Lots of snow I need to get shoveled."
"No," she groaned with a smile as she dug her head into the pillow. "Stay here…"
"Work," was all he argued with as he leaned over the bed, still warm from where he slept and kissed her on the forehead. "I'll take Preston to pre-school and be back by dinner."
"Momma!" they heard from down the hall. "Momma!"
"What?" Evelyn shouted.
"It's freezing! D
I Promise"Hey Benson," Mordecai said, noticing the smile on his boss's face. He was busy raking the leaves of the park when the gumball machine pulled up beside him in a golf cart. "Wow, you look great. That week off looks like it's doing wonders for you."I Promise1 year ago in General Fiction More Like This
"Is it that noticeable?" he said without losing his glow.
"Yeah, it's good to see you. What made you drop by the park?"
"Well," he put the cart in park, "Evelyn's going to give birth soon, so I just wanted to pick up some extra things for when the big day gets here."
"Wow this soon?"
"Time flies doesn't it?"
"I'll say " He watched as his boss fished inside a large paper bag and he stepped over, interested. "So what all did you get?"
"Bottles, blankets, toys " he trailed off. "Oh, and this." He held up a tube of clay from an art store. "For prints."
"Looks like you really went all out."
"You should see the apartment. It's been completely revamped."
Mordecai nodded and gave him a sad smile. "Well, I'm glad you're happy, Benson."
15 Years Later"Dad?" Preston asked walking into the kitchen, rubbing his eye. "What are you doing?"15 Years Later1 year ago in Drama More Like This
"Making your mom lunch…and wow, look at you," the gumball machine replied, turning to his son, "up before three on a Saturday?"
"It smells good…" The teen walked over, leaning over the counter to see what he was making. "Chowder?"
"Why are you making her lunch? Is she mad at you?"
"No, she's not mad at me."
"Are you cheating on her and you feel guilty?"
"No, and don't say things like that. That's how rumors get spread."
"Mmm." He pushed away to grab a can of soda from the fridge. "Where is mom anyway?"
"Special doctor's appointment."
"I'm not five, dad, you can just say therapist."
"It's the same thing."
"Mmhm.." He sat at the table, crossing his legs as he looked over the paper for that day of December 3rd. "I thought mom was over therapy. Is she okay?"
"It's hard to explain…" Benson slipped in some chopped up carrots into the pot. "I'll tell you when you're older."
"You've been saying that s
A Good MorningEvelyn curled up beside Benson in the cabin, the two of them warm beneath the wool blankets, the fire crackling on the other side of the room, and al while the blizzard raged outside with the wolves that howled and scratched at the wooden door. She smiled and rubbed her blushed cheek on his arm, glad to be with him again after spending who knew how long completely alone with only the baby to keep her company. The one-room cabin held the heavy scent of cinnamon where buns were still baking in the oven. They'd be done by morning, and they'd have their first breakfast together as a family. Maybe if the storm subsided, and the wolves left, they could get some visitors. But as for them leaving, Evelyn wouldn't dream of it. She loved the house too much to want to stray from it.A Good Morning1 year ago in General Fiction More Like This
The sun had barely peeked when Evelyn sat up in bed. It took her a moment to crawl to the edge of it, the whole thing big enough to hold at least twenty people comfortably, and when she pressed her bare feet against t
Evelyn LivedIt was too cold in the house, but Evelyn had to remind herself that it was only temporary so it wouldn't get her down. Spring should have been here by now, but the weather always seemed to linger in the past before finally allowing itself to move on. It was the only thing she really hated about her four favorite times of the year. Especially now. This past winter was one she wanted to forget.Evelyn Lived1 year ago in General Fiction More Like This
Her small baby bump was wrapped carefully in a pair of wool pajamas Benson bought her for Christmas a few months ago. They were dark blue with snowmen and snow flakes that buttoned down with ivory felt buttons, and she couldn't remember how many nights these clothes had kept her warm in the freezing hospital room at Quintel Medical Center. "She survived," was the title newspapers decided to go with after hearing word she'd survived her fall on December 3rd and it was something she had to live with when word broke out of her pregnancy. Only now did the press bother leaving her alone, but her therap

I've been around you before
Seen you behind the counter
You always seem distracted though
Before you just looked sad
I feel you're a lot like me
Think you and I might go out sometime
But I'm not sure how to ask this
I'd have to be sure you'd say yes first
Like when I ordered a chai from you that one day
To go and you asked me to stay
Get to know you better is what I'd hoped
To bad I was on call, but please
Know that I'm here, okay?
You can always talk to me
Beckie Cupcake (OC)
Do one stroke, two stroke, three stroke, four
I think I'll have to do a fifth
Like the way the leaves fall on the pond like this
Landscapes are my escape
Because while I feel like running
I like to sit and keep tranquility near
Want people to notice me for me
To see me more than just a talent
Run and sitting steadfast I do this
Away from the bustle of my past
From things I'm not sure if I want a secret
Here though is where I want to be

Depreston"It's okay, Preston , it's okay…" Evelyn cooed with worry as she rubbed her son's back. The teen gripped the sides of the toilet seat harder as another rush of vomit went hurdling into the murky water. "Shh….there there…." Evelyn said through her tears. "It's going to be okay, baby…Mommy's here…I'm right here, baby."
Preston closed the lid for a moment to catch his breath and rest his forehead as Evelyn continued to comfort him. "I'm sorry Mom," he croaked out through his own tears and dried throat. "I'm so so sorry."
"Shh…" She wrapped her arms around him and rocked with him on the cold tiles of the floor, rubbing his back as he continued to sob onto her chest. "It's okay Preston…it's okay…it's okay…"
"Don't tell Dad," he cried. "Please don't tell Dad."
"Shh…it's okay…it's okay, Preston…" Evelyn slowed her rubbing and sat down on her bottom to cradle him as best she could in her lap. As Preston continued to snif
List of Reasons Why I Hate Benson/AudreyAlthough mostly just Audrey as a character.List of Reasons Why I Hate Benson/Audrey1 year ago in Personal More Like This
I was asked on Tumblr why I didn't like Audrey so here's my response I guess I'll put here too:
Anonymous asked: Wait, you don't like Audrey? How come?
A lot of reasons that will result in a page long post so I'll bullet point it instead
She doesn't care about him like everyone thinks she does. If Benson was tired and wanted to go to bed like she was inclined to believe, she tried guilt tripping him to come to her party anyway even though they live across the hall and she could see him anytime. Her excuse was "I see you but never get to talk to you." Bullshit, how'd you invite him to the party then? You had to communicate with him somehow, your party could wait if he didn't feel like going. Right there I was a lil "eh" at the selfishness of her character, but I looked past it because I thought "well, maybe she does feel bad because she likes him and doesn't know what she's doing." But then it got worse.
Who was at her party but her exboyfrien
