Harmony of Chaos Chapter 99. U Mad?
Rainbow Dash remained in her house for the next month, coming out only rarely to do her job as weather manager for Ponyville. It was discovered she actually didn't have to leave home to do it anymore, as her ability to manipulate weather had grown. She could call the clouds into place from a distance, and even generate lightning from her own body to begin a storm. Most ponies didn't notice that she was no longer coming out to do her job...except for the days where there was an unexpected, unannounced shower, even though they never lasted long.
Twilight Sparkle and the others, however, were very worried about their friend. Having heard from Scootaloo about what triggered the first rainsquall, they knew that each new shower was another storm of weeping from their friend, and their concern drove most of them to distraction.
At the end of the month, as the five sat in the library discussing the problem, there was a knock on the door.

Beast Boy walked into the common room, a little dazed. He could see everyone was staring at him, as if they expected him to do something, but he couldn't focus on that. All he could think of was the note he had found slipped under his door that morning.
Please meet me today on the shores of the island at sunset, where the sun will be visible. There's something I want to tell you, that I've wanted to say for a long time.
He was completely poleaxed. He'd recognize the handwriting anywhere. He had no clue what this was about. Sitting dumbly at the table, he started to eat his breakfast...but something tasted off about his cereal. Think about that later...
"WHy are you eating doggy kibble...in goat's milk?"
Beast Boy's eyes went wide, and he spat out his food all over Robin. "Nice, man."
"Sorry, dude." Beast Boy dumped the bowl

Raven sat back, listening to Starfire and Jinx go on about their respective boys. It irritated her, given she was - and probably always would be - still single. But then again, she suppossed girl talk always devolved into talk of boys eventually, and it was interesting to listen to what it was that irritated the girls about their respective boys.
"Boyfriend Robin is wonderful...mostly. But I am concerned that it is unusual for the boy to spend more time primping then the girl does, yes?"
"You think that's bad?" Jinx waved her hand dismissively. "Have you seen the way CYborg goes over his car? Sometimes it seems like he loves that car more than me! It's irritating, I tell you, but what with his tech being sucha big part of him, I'd feel guilty making a fuss over it, so...yeah."
"At least neither of you has to listen to Beast Boy's blather," Raven found herself saying. "It w

"Alright, everyone, time for today's training schedule..." Robin began, but he stopped. "Where's Beast Boy?"
"Probably still asleep," Cyborg said, rolling his eye. "You know how he is."
"He did seem less than his usual excitable self last night," Starfire commented. "He went to bed earlier than usual, if I recall."
"By three whole hours," Raven commented in an aside, "and he didn't stir the entire night. He usually tosses and turns a bit."
Everyone turned to stare at her. "And how would you know that?" Cyborg asked suggestively.
Raven glared at him. "Empath," she said blandly.
"Well, why don't you go wake him up then," Robin said decisively. "We'll wait."
Raven glared at Robin, then turned and stormed out. Truth to tell, she was worried about the green changeling - not that she'd even admit it to herself - and was glad of the excuse to check on him. Course, she'd never adm

Raven opened her eyes slowly again. The first thing she noticed was being very warm, and curled up to something that radiated a lot of heat. As her eyes focused, she saw a wall of green in front of her. She blinked a few times. She was staring at Beast Boy's chest.
Smiling, she looked upward. His eyes were open, staring down at her. "Hey," he said quietly.
"Hey," she said back.
They lay there for a while, just staring into each others eyes. Then Raven shifted a little. "Beast Boy, we need to talk."
Beast Boy nodded, to tired to wince. "Okay."
"About...about what happened in the med lab..." she began carefully.
"Before you continue, Raven, let me say something." She nodded at his insistence."Raven, I love you. I have for years, and I wish I had the courage to tell you sooner. I'm sorry I told you the way I did. I just hope you c

Raven sat in Nevermore, at a podium in the center of the realm, at the head of an ampitheater. Gathered before her were all her emotions. A very important issue was at hand, one that would affect the rest of her life. A choice that would determine her future. Even Rage was here, at her insistence.
Raven looked down at her gathered selves. "I call this meeting of my mind to order. Knowledge, if you would present the issue?"
Knowledge started to step forward, but Rage stepped ahead of her. "We all know what's at stake here. They can not be allowed to interfere with what is ours! THey know nothing!"
Raven stared at Rage. THis was the last she expected from her most volatile emotion. She was even more surprised to hear a rumble of agreement from the others.
Bravery stepped forward. "Rage is right. We have to act.

Raven sat in the karaoke bar, glaring at Starfire. "I can't believe I let you talk me into this."
"But friend Raven, you said you'd been feeling down. Singing gives the heart wings."
"I am not getting up there and singing."
"COme now, friend Raven, you must, as you say, cut the loosing." Starfire smiled. "I shall go first, and then you will join me, yes?" Not waiting for a response, Star leapt to the stage and grabbed the mike. She let loose with an enthusiastic rendition of "Every Time We Touch."
*Three guesses who she's singing about,* Raven thought to herself. *THen again...maybe it might be fun...* Against her better judgement, she joined Star for the next song, and actually enjoyed singing "Girls just wanna have fun." Then Star selected another song and left the stage.
"This one is yours, Raven."
As the guitar music began, she glared at Starfire. She knew this

"What if-what if she hits me?"
Cyborg shrugged, "Just give it a try."
"Fine." Beastboy stood up from the couch and walk through the door down the hallway where the team members rooms were. He stopped in front of Raven's door. He hesitated with going to knock. As he raised his hand to knock the door slid open just a crack, so you could see one of the Empath's violet eyes.

"Um....I was wondering " Beastboy rubbed the back of his neck, trying to find the right words.

Robin immediately jumped on Beast Boy. "Beast Boy! WHy didn't you ever mention you had an older sister? Or that you gave her the codes to let her in?"
"Or that she was so hot!" Cyborg said, still drooling. Helena giggled at that.
Starfire flew forward to put her into a crushing embrace. "Hello elder sister of-"
Starfire wa stopped as a pair of knives appeared crossed at her throat before she could put Helena in a hug.

Beast Boy laughed while everyone stared. "Helena! She just wants to hug you!"
Helena flips her wrists and the knives vanish. "Sorry. Reflex action." She grabs Star and puts her into a crushing embrace that rivalled her own. "Didn't realize you were such a huggle bug."

The next day, Raven was finally able to stand up and walk around a bit. With Starfire's help, she was able to get dressed, which was a big releif for her. Then she had to lay back down.
Beast Boy still wasn't able to move too much, and his energy was really low. Raven was worried about him. Although he wasn't getting worse, he wasn't getting better either.
She could feel her magic returning slowly, and wonered if she might be able to do something with it to help him recover...or at least take better care of him.
She stared down at their meal. Both of them were now eating strict vegetarian, which confused Raven. Before, she couldn't stand tofu, and had always liked Cyborg's meat concoctions, although she didn't make a fuss about it. Now, though, the taste of real meat made her nauseous, and she found that Beast Boy's tofu meals were actually...quite good.

Beast Boy walked down the hallway in the Tower. It was December, and Raven had locked herself in her room again. She did this every year. As soon as Thanksgiving was over, she'd lock herself in her room and wouldn't come out until new years, except for quick meals and missions. He was tired of this. It wasn't enough this year to just go through the usual cajoling, begging, and pleading, only to have her retreat and lock the door. This year, he was going to find out why.
Raising his hand to knock, he paused when his sensitive nose detected a brief flare of sulfur. She had just lit a match. He waited, not wanting to startle her into dropping it. He heard her light a candle and extinguish the match. About to knock again, he heard her begin to chant. It wasn't her usual chant, and it wasn't in any language she usually used for spells. Howev

"Beast Boy!" She tried to push herself up out of the bed, but she fell to the floor. She could barely move. And her voice...she had tried to shout, but she'd barely made any noise. What was wrong with her?
The door slid open. "Friend Raven! You must rest! Friend Cyborg says your vitals are still incredibly weak!" Starfire picked her up like she was a doll and put ehr back into bed.
"But...Beast Boy, he's dying...I need to be with him..." Raven could barely speak. She wasn't even able to struggle against Starfire's strength.
"Friend Beast Boy is stable now. He is no longer dying.

"Not completely, Star," Raven said slowly. "But I'm getting there."

Raven shook her head. "Beast Boy's still not getting any better. Not sure why."

Raven set the flowers down at the foot of the statue that was once a person...an enemy? A friend? A rival? She wasn't quite sure how she viewed her anymore. She turned to Beast Boy. "Will...she ever change back?" Normally, she'd be the one who knew the answer to that question...but her knowledge of mythical creatures was limited.
Beast Boy shook his head. "Never. A basalisk's gaze is permanent. You know...if she'd had just a hair's more control...something worth fighting for...she could have done this herself, turned herself to stone and freeze the volcano."
"How would that have been any better?"
"Then there's all sorts of magic and even mundane cures that could have been used to free her...or she might have managed it on her own." He sighed. "But now...she's trapped forever. Nothing will ever free her."

Garfield carried Raven up the slop of the hill, towards a nearby peak where she could look out at the world, at the beauty of the land. She still slumbered, but he could feel it. Beast Boy slept soundly as Raven got up and stretched. He lay curled up in her bed, a happy smile on his face. She smiled at him, and chuckled softly. To think he'd happily traded an Arabian fantasy just to sleep next to her...she still felt touched at his words.
Heading out of her room quietly, she went to get something to eat. Seeing she was the only one up at the moment, she went to the fridge and pulled out some tofu. She saw there was a lot more than there had been the other day. There was a note pinned to it.
"Raven, don't tell BB I got more of his crap tofu. BB, if you're reading this, it's a lie! A LIE!!
Raven chuckled, and pulled out some tofu. Without really thinking about it, she cooked it up, letting her mind wander back to the last time she'd seen Beast Boy cooking it. She remembered every hand motion, every seasoning, every smirk...

"Delicious, isn't it?" he taunted.
Beast Boy scrunched up and nose and shoved the plate away. "How can you eat that stuff? It used to be a living and breathing creature!" He crossed his arms and refused to look at his friend as he got out a pot and filled it with water from the tap.

Garfield woke slowly, rolling over in his sleep. Something seemed...off. Opening his eyes blearily, he noticed what it was: his wife wasn't there with him. Shooting up off the mossy floor, he ran out of the waterfall cave...and saw her leaning over in the bushes, retching.
"Raven! What's wrong? Are you sick?" If Carrion had messed up when he revived her life force...
Raven started to chuckle, then she stood up, tilting her head back and laughing. Garfield could only stare at her. Her hair had grown out over the past year, and she hadn't bothered with cutting it. As she stretched back, laughing, so full of life she seemed to be glowing, he knew he'd never seen her look more beautiful.
As her laughter subsided, she went to the lake and splashed some water on her face before saying, "So that's what he meant..."

Beast Boy saw the waver in the air, and knew what it was. That dragon was flying while invisible. Which meant...if he followed it, it would lead him to Raven. Hsi Wu clung to the underside of a rock platform, floating in the Demon Netherworld. He had just been banished from Earth, and was frustrated with himself. He had had a perfect opportunity to gain power in Earth, to come up with a plan to free his brothers and sisters, to defeat their enemies...and he had botched it! What had gone wrong?
He thought back on the events of the day. He knew what had caused his downfall: that trinket Jade had given him. A stupid charm given by a stupid mortal child, and she had used it to track him, to locate him, and to destroy him.
Thinking about this, he wondered...why had he kept it? When it was revealed that he was Hsi Wu in disguise, why had he kept the trinket? Why hadn't he tossed it right then? Or later, when he'd gotten away with the old man? Why did he wait to get rid of it until AFTER it had been used against him?
