Where do you place value?I've been noticing a trend in a lot of Christians feeling like they need to defend themselves. So I'm going to share some things that have helped me with this.Where do you place value?2 years ago in Personal More Like This
An easy way to deal with this is to put more value on what God says about you than you put on what other people say about you. Which do you hold in higher regard? Does what other people think and say about you dominate your outlook? Or do you hold what God says in a higher esteem? It's good to value and respect other people. Even if someone is wrong about something, that person is still valuable. They are valuable to God, and so they should be valuable to you. But that doesn't mean you need to value that person's words or opinion, especially if they are wrong about something. If you only put value on what God says, no accusations or insults from others should affect you. For this to be effective, you need to know what God says. The bible, from Genesis to Revelation, is about Jesus and His finished work. Jesus is God's word. If i

Johnny Cash: The Man in Black
Johnny Cash was without a doubt one of the most influential, acclaimed, and popular singer–songwriters of the last century.
February 26 would have been his 82nd birthday. Many of Cash’s recordings are now almost universally known—songs like “I Walk the Line” and “Folsom Prison Blues.” As a result of his work he has been inducted into the Country Hall of Fame, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame
Dragon Sculpting Tutorial on YouTube!Alright guys here you go! I finally made a video of me making one of my dragons. The video is pretty long, about an hour, so watch it when you have some time to veg and watch some sculpting. I was going to just make it a time-lapse, but ended up narrating the whole thing, so instead you get to listen to me babble on about sculpting for an hour while I'm making the dragon. It was actually pretty fun to make, so I think I'll make a pony one in the near future as well!Dragon Sculpting Tutorial on YouTube!3 years ago in Personal More Like This

And yes, I know I make silly faces while I sculpt. Shut it.

My Etsy shop is still open, and any made-to-order items there are always available.

The Witchas Multifaceted Icon
Throughout history artists of every discipline have been fascinated, inspired and transfixed at every historical stage of the shifting perceptions of the “Witch” in any given time or society. The seams within every page of every chapter written against or in defense of the witch have been alternatively filled with oppressive sexism, blind eyed religious bigotry, occult doctrine, fevered and forbidden lustful sexuality, misplaced fear, and reams of wide eyed superstition.
Consequently, the colors, and lines within every stroke upon every canvas and visceral depiction, carry all the burdensome weight of the long intricacies of this subject. With respect to this much maligned, religiously and politically repurposed, perpetually misunderstood subject

Dante's Inferno, What's the Worst that Can Happen?Dante's Inferno, What's the Worst that Can Happen?3 years ago in DeviantArt Announcements More Like This

Sometimes in youth we play crazy mind games. One gruesome game was trying to think of the worst way to die. Or even better, the "which would you choose" version of the same conceit. Another was what would be the worst torture to endure. If there is one international touchstone that best captures youthful fears and wonders in speculation of what lies beyond the veil of death and awaits as possible punishment for our sins, it must be - to the few who have actually read it to the millions who "know" it – "Dante's Inferno." Who does not shiver at the thought of being lost somewhere in the "Nine Rings of Hell?"

A Pop Culture Interpretation of The Supernatural
Every culture around the world created gods and other mythical beings by mixing and matching fanged and taloned animal parts—e.g., enormous eagle heads on lions’ bodies—human beings have always seemed to need to believe there are powerful and usually quite vengeful supernatural beings lurking just beyond the candlelight.
Supernatural beings come to serve several purposes:
They kept people on the lighted path of truth and goodness, fearful of exploring beyond;
They were a reminder of the punishment we deser

Once Upon A Time
Fairy tales usually begin once upon a time—a time that need not be identified because the tale, and its meaning, are of a timeless nature. The landscape of a fairy tale is often dreamlike, as if to tell us trying to apply normal logic to the story will only confuse the point that the storyteller is trying to make. Fairy tales usually involve dangerous journeys, often following after or searching for a wayward loved one, and entail a getting lost in the mists of time and space. The climax is almost always the discovery of a heretofore unknown inner store of courage in the face of evil and imminent death. Fairy tales tell our child

I believe in deviantART. Which is to more accurately say I believe in the concept and the reality of the deviantART community.
When in contemplation of the eternal wellspring that is the deviantART project and how it has become the engine keeping my heart and mind on a full burn as I strive to be an upstanding member of the community as well as a helpful architect and eager participant in the conversation -- my thoughts inevitably settle upon my attempts to define my concept of Gratitude.

As I read, that there will be a convention in Bonn, Germany, from March 30th to April 1st 2013 with 9 of the main actors from The Hobbit as quests – Sylvester McCoy (Radagast), Dean O'Gorman (Fili), Graham McTavish (Dwalin), Mark Hadlow (Dori), Jed Brophy (Nori), Adam Brown (Ori), John Callen (Oin), Peter Hambleton (Gloin) and Stephen Hunter (Bombur) - I just needed to go there. I went with my sister and it was our first convention ever. So I'm going to tell you some of our highlights.
Of course we were really excited! There were so many people and I'm actually quite shy. It was the first time that I saw cosplayers in real life. Their costumes and weapons were amazing!
As we got our tickets the first unexpected thing happened: Graham McTavish and Dean O'Gorman

No matter the brave, fierce constructs we build and serve that would have us believe we are each one of us all alone as we make this journey, we make our way toward the end of all things side-by-side in our community of the living each day defying death. Our paths may be wildly divergent—the way of the hungry and impoverished traveling the same timeline with the grotesquely indulgent, the very best of us side-by-side with the most evil of us; but all headed for the same fate: dust. On March 1, 2012 the Nevada DMV issued the first license for a Google Driverless Car. The idea behind this innovation is that one day soon new technology will drive cars safer and more skillfully than humans, thus saving lives and billions of dollars in car crashes. How well this idea catches on is a bit questionable, given the powerful “romance” of driving one’s car, but it’s certainly an indicator of things to come in the daily intersection of human and artificial intelligence and mobility. There have always been those who have dreamed of stepping into a mechanical exo-skeletal-type “suit” and letting the engineering do the work, insta

Early life becomes an exploration of invisible parameters, circles beyond circles, as one pushes out to test the boundaries of safety. There is one’s bedroom, one’s home, neighborhood, school and town, state and nation. Early on, maps become important documents – declarations of being and rights and privileges. In the art world, throughout history, maps have been a constant measure of human progress, from the Phoenecians recording their trade routes over 2000 years ago, or pre-Columbian times in which map

I've always sculpted as a hobby and am completely self taught. In April of 2010 I decided I wanted to finally try my hand at selling my work. I started posting things on etsy and DA and veeery slowly people started noticing. My first couple of years relied heavily on commission work.
How are you so popular? I just started making sculptures too but nobody notices or buys them?
It took well over two years before I was actually getting fulltime work with decent pay. It took a TON of hard work. I sold my work for far less than I should have, because I needed customers. I also did a few shows, to get some exposure by handing out business cards. I made things as often as I could, posted often, and made sure it was very clear I was open for commissions. I posted links on everything. You have to make it easy for people to find the info they need! I posted mainly on etsy and DA, then made a fanpage on facebook very late in the game. Probably sh
