In the words of Taika himself;

" I felt that puggdogg's offering was highly original. It reminded me of the crazy japanese pop movie / grindhouse posters I have loved for years and because of its colour scheme and layout I felt it really stood out from the rest. I give it 8 out of ten. It would have got the full 10 if it had a lightning bolt through the middle and maybe an obscure asian tagline like "Make good sunshine feeling on your everlasting burger"...

The Grand Prize Winner Shall Receive:

* A one year subscription to deviantART.
* 100 deviantDollars
* Their work printed in The Onion.
* A 20x30 non canvas print of their choosing. (or a print of their own work if they so choose)
* And... a Casio Exilim ex-Z75

As an artist and a dreamer, there could be no greater creative invention than one that allows you to project your visions for others to see. I dream of a future with technology that allows the user to tap into dreams and ideas and lets one show their vision in real time rather than being limited to a physical medium that one may not be adept in.

With this invention, the imagination is the only limit and people who are physically unable to draw and speak can once again communicate in the most comprehensive way conceivable. Dreams are a beautiful thing.

No references used but for looking at myself in a mirror.

This is my entry for the 7 Deadly Sins contest. I started planning this about a week and a half ago and I feel that the hard work and the money spent on this project has been worth while.

Costume

The costume was made by a relative friend of mine. I wanted it to be fairy-like and very natural with a earth feel to it. The make up was a design that I came to and practiced several times in order to get the balance right for the feel of the piece. I extended the eye shadow because I feel that envy is like a disease that takes you over and I wanted to make up to reflect that. I wanted the hair to look like she had been pulling at it in frustration of the fact that she wasn't in a relationship. I obviously used green as a theme ('green with envy').

Set

I used a box window to make it seem like the model was trapped and that her envy was trapping her. The pictures all around the window (every one of which I took myself) were to sybolise her envy turning into obsession. The green flying objects that can be seen were leaves that were thrown just as the shot was taken. I chose leaves to keep in with the natural side of things, and I liked the colours and tones that we were able to get from them as an effect. The scrawlings of the word 'Envy' in the window were written on with a washable window marker and I used this to sybolise her frustration with her own state of mind. In the edit all that was done was a saturation and contrast alteration and a removal of what could be seen outside the window. I chose to leave the wire box in, as I feel it made the picture seem to have that extra bit of charm to it.

Well as usual, I'm submitting yet another contest entry really close to the deadline. This time it's for the Deviantwear Design Battle I took a similar approach I used in the Disinfo pic since the rules said you were limited to six colors (I used three: dark gray, white and red). The shirt color itself is Heather Black.

<-- Feel free to click "Download" to check out a much larger version to get a better look at the image.

Critiques and comments are most welcome on this. :)

Adobe Photoshop: 1 hour
Adobe Illustrator: around 4 or 5 hours

[added] Fuuuuug, I just read the fine print in the rules and it says that the design can't exceed 10"x12". =/ I'll go back and see if I can resubmit the image in a design that still looks cool.

[edit] Made the image a tad smaller to conform to the 10"x12" design limitation.

Sorry, I have a problem: I do always make art going beyond of its proposal.

This is my flick for World No Tobacco Day awareness campaign contest. I think I get the idea: to show the danger of cigarette to health of smokers and sencondhand smokers. But I show more: the negligence of most of the smokers about the other's health. [I said MOST, not ALL]. Obviously, it's an expressive and exagerated acting. I do respect our freedom of choice - if you want to smoke, is up to you.

I used the Vilumice experiment like in Rignif, showing the issues of smoking not in a conventional way. Many people woundn't understand this video, but it's ok.

Lots of mistakes: forgot to unset auto-focus, too grainy capture and a bad joke.

1 week of preparation
1 hour of shooting
R$ 0,25 of total costs [1 cigarette]
6 minutes of video rushes
1,7gb of files on computer
20 hours of editing
