Back to Basics Photography - Understanding RawdSLR cameras and most bridge cameras have the option to shoot in raw, but what exactly is it and what are the benefits? Let me attempt to explain.Back to Basics Photography - Understanding Raw4 months ago in Photography
A camera raw file contains all the data that is captured when the shutter button is pressed whereas a JPEG is compressed and a lot of the data is lost. They are often called digital negatives as they serve the same purpose as the negatives in film photography; they are not ready to be used as the final image, but hold all the information and data needed to produce one. This all means that you are left with a higher image quality which also allows you to have more control and manipulate more parameters than a JPEG. All of the metadata is also still in tact, meaning that the original state can always be referred back to if needed.
So, surely you want to see the difference, right? Well you're in luck.
Top - straight out of camera (SOOC) raw. Bottom - basic adjustments done in LightRoom raw.

Damian ChrobakBorn in Jastrzebie Zdroj (Poland), Damian studied photography at Academy of Photography in Warsaw.Damian Chrobak1 month ago in Personal
After the first year he decided to look for a different direction and began his search for a photography
he could really call his own. He came to London, where he completed a Black & White Photography course
at the University of the Arts London. Discovering street photography became a turning point in his life.
Damian has been documenting London’s streets life for the last few years with some great results.
He had a few solo and group exhibitions in Poland as well as in England and last year he exhibited
as part of 5th European Month of Phothography in Berlin. In January 2010 he was honoured to receive
a membership of ZPAF (Association of Polish Art Photographers).
Damian is the main person behind the street photography group known as UN-POSED, which has been brought
to life in 2011 and one may get quite surprised uppon reading through the names...

Andy Warhol let it happen. As the leading conduit of popular and unpopular culture in his time he presaged what we take to be commonplace today. Nothing good has been as edgy since Andy. In letting it happen he embraced it all. We may need a hundred years to catch up - - who's to know?
This "Thank You" to Andy hit the sidewalks along Melrose Ave in Los Angeles some months ago. The blue butterfly, added by another, I believe, is Andy Warhol iconography. It reminds us all of how much he contributed and of the vibrancy of his legacy, still thoroughly modern after all these years.
Someone scrawled onto this tribute the word "Jew" in yellow paint; in the same color of yellow demanded by the Nazi for the Stars of David forced to be worn by Jewish people as they were herded into the ghettos before th

Cafetype Photography - are you taking a pi*s???Every film developing process (for b/w film at least) uses at least 2 chemicals. Developer and Fixer. For more advanced processes you can add Stop Bath or Wetting Agent... And believe me or not, all of the chemicals you can produce in the comfort of your own home.Cafetype Photography - are you taking a pi*s???3 months ago in Personal
Developer
It may surprise you that such a common household drink that can serve as a developing agent and it can produce surprisingly good photographs. In fact, developers, stop baths, and fixers can all be concocted from products found in your local supermarket. The two most essential ingredients of a photographic developer are a developing agent (a reducing agent) and an activator.Caffeine is an excellent reducer and can work well as a developing agent. Vitamin C can also do the job, as well as tea, soft drinks and a number of other common materials including vanilla extract and iron supplement tablets.
First get a jar of instant coffee granules from your local supermarket. Next head to the washing powder aisle

World Press Photo of the Year 2012This photography won the World Press Photo of the Year 2012:World Press Photo of the Year 20123 months ago in Art Blogs & Mags
Before the World Press Photo price it has first been published like this:
You probably have already read / heard polemics about this case: about how much a photography can be edited, transformed, arranged... and be still a photojournalist shot or become just an artistic work without photojournalist credibility anymore.
What are your feelings about this?
We give you here the possibility to express your opinion.
Thank you
Get over my fearWhen I decided that I like street photography and wanted to take more photos of it, my biggest obstacle was to overcome my fear to be in public places alone. When I told Mr. Stamatis (my mentor back then) about my problem, he suggested me to went out on a public place, or an event at my town and just be there, absorb the feeling, accustomed myself with the crowd. I got panic attack, but I survived. Since then, it's like after riding the roller coaster for the first time, I just want to go on and on again.Get over my fear3 months ago in Personal
That doesn't mean I have overcome my fear. In fact, I am still not confident enough in the public. That's why I try to perfect my hip shot, so I don't have to take the camera on the eye level, so people don't have to look at me.
Last week, I was forced to get over my fear. I attended documentary photo workshop in my town. At first I didn't thought that I had to be frontal with people I took photo of. Surprised, surprised. The mentor forced me to do what I am really afraid of.
I know t
