This work was created for a duel about secondary charachters of "The Lord of the Rings" by Tolkien. It was finished afterwards. I tried to depict Glorfindel's piece, purity, nobleness and courage.

I put this drawing into this section even if I don't mean it to be a sketch (I spent far too much time on it to consider it a sketch...) But when it came to scan it, it was the same as usual: the result is completely lame. The paper is too thin and the lines either come out too visible, or too invisible....
Anyway, this is almost (I did some impROvement on it later) the drawing I gave Alan Lee when I saw him at a great bookshop. I already had to make him sign my book of LOTR, which was quite paralyzing for me, but I managed to gather enough courage to give him this, and he was really happy^^

He was a lord of the Green-elves hastening from Ossiriand, and the door-wards brought him to where Dior sat alone in his chamber; and there in silence he gave to the King a coffer, and took his leave. But in that coffer lay the Necklace of the Dwarves, wherein was set the Silmaril; and Dior looking upon it knew it for a sign that Beren Erchamion and Luthien Tinuviel had died indeed, and gone where go the race of Men to a fate beyond the world.

"Standing near was a huge man with a thick black beard and hair, and great bare arms and legs with knotted muscles. He was clothed in a tunic of wool down to his knees, and was leaning on a large axe. The horses was standing by him with their noses at his shoulder.
'Ugh! here they are!" he said to the horses. 'They don't look dangerous. You can be off!' He laughed a great rolling laugh, put down his axe and came forward.
'Who are yoy and what do you want?' he asked gruffly, standing in front of them and towering tall above Gandalf."

- J.R.R. Tolkien: The Hobbit

Beorn has always been one of my favourite character from The Hobbit, and I'm really looking forward to seeing him in the film. But sadly he's going to be on the second movie so I have to wait for one more year :I
