Contest Submission: Zelink KidZelda and Link both watched from the base of a deku tree as their little son, now aged two, was running around after the fairies that fluttered about his head. The light cast by the ethereal creatures reflected off of his deep golden locks, messy and unkempt as a child's hair would be. Zelda made a mental note that it was bath time for the little boy as soon as the sun set.Contest Submission: Zelink Kid6 years ago in Fan Fiction More Like This
"Don't wander off too far, Kail," Link called after the child.
Kail turned, and his sky blue eyes lit up as he beheld his father. It was times like these that reminded Zelda of the striking resemblance he bore to Link. She could only imagine what he would look like as he grew in the years to come. "Papa!" he cried gleefully, running towards his father, arms outstretched. He launched himself at Link, who took the impact with as much grace as he could, laughing freely.
Link stood, and brought the child up to his shoulders, so that Kail was now higher up. The two year old shrieked with joy: he loved it when his father

I screamed at the sight of my mother. She had a set of forks in her neck, blood was spilling everywhere. Her teal colored pajamas were blood spattered. Her mouth was open in a silent scream. I was only five, so seeing this petrified and scarred me.
"Momma!" I cried as I ran towards her. She was nearly dead, but I didn't want to believe it.
Before I could even get two feet from her, somebody grabbed me. I gasped and turned around as the person draped me over their shoulder.
The person holding me was Robert Thorn, and he was also holding his son. Damien was unconscious and seemed to be in a deep sleep. I began kicking and screaming harder.
"Let me go!" I shouted, my ponytail becoming loose. I was aggravated, my face turning red.
"Let me go, you killed my momma!" I screamed louder, this time trying to claw my way out.
Robert ran towards his car, still holding Damien and I. He put us in the car, me in back and Damien in the front seat next to his father. We sped towards the country road.
Catch MeIt had been a few months since GLaDOS had let Chell and Wheatley leave the Enrichment Center. After Chell had opened the portal to the moon, she had refused to let go of Wheatley, and GLaDOS had finally just pulled them both back in under the condition that Chell "get the moron out of here."Catch Me3 years ago in Humor More Like This
So she had. She had taken Wheatley back to her apartment—first she'd had to get an apartment, and that hadn't been easy given her lack of credentials, but she'd managed—and it had taken him a long while, but at last he'd stopped apologizing for what he'd done.
"All right!" he enthused. "Now that you've forgiven me, it's time for me to forgive you!"
Chell had raised her eyebrows at that. "Forgive me for what? For saving your life? Don't make me regret that."
"No no no no no," he said quickly. "For not catching me!"
She snorted. "Oh. Are you still going on about that? I did my best!" And there was a slight catch in her voice that betrayed her thoughts, betray

"Ahhh you know!" the captain said, making sure that his good was on camera "It's just always so nice to help a pretty girl like you, especially with a busy schedule you're about to have!"
As SeeU and the captain were boarding the ship, the thousands of fans of SeeU were waving goodbye and throwing ribbons, wishing their good luck to her on her tour.
The camera then moved to the news reporter who said the following: "There you have it folks, SeeU, the biggest Kpop star in the world is leaving on the largest ship in Europe for her tour there, being the only passenger there, surrounded by thousands of faithful fans saying goodbye to her."
Oliver was peeking through the deck of ship; he was astounded to see so much people arriving just to see one person leave.
The captain then finally went to the control room, and one of the workers shouted "All aboard!" T

Chell's first thought was, He's heavier than I remember.
Her second was, Wow, didn't know that would happen.
Her third was interrupted by the soft moaning of an unconscious Wheatley, who had collapsed onto her lap after commenting on his new smell, and an annoyed-sounding GLaDOS Again.
"I thought I heard a moron. Chell, was this you?" She asked accusingly.
Chell quickly craned her head to face the camera and shook her head no. Then, frowning, she nodded. Finally, she shrugged with exasperation.
GLaDOS sighed, but when she spoke again, her tone this time was wonder and complete disbelief. "Now, that's different. He came through a portal on the moon and turned human?"
"Even I couldn't have predicted this, and to be honest, I'm the smartest AI there is. It must've been a side effect from something. I'll just cut him open, run some tests

A few selective and well-avoided streets of Downtown Townsville were the places to be if you were one of the many low-life deadbeats and/or criminals that couldnt have cared any less about the alien invasion. It was one of the rare places that had yet to be touched by the plague; a just cause for the apathy.
Even so, the area was as decrepit and rank as if already invaded. The cold grey buildings were full of broken windows and questionable residents, their walls labeled with countless gang tags. The smell of rusted metal mixed with the latest atmospheric stink, and a police siren could be heard from any corner, any time.
But life had always been like this anyways. So there was little change of behavior in these parts, and life went on as usual. The same bar tucked into the lit alleyway was jumping and pumping with punk rock music, played by the same notoriously famous crew of hoodlums that ruled these streets.
Even the addition of their new back-up singer
Not So DifferentChell set the bottle on the countertop. Her day had been long and made especially unpleasant by the sudden panic attack brought on by the smell of ammonia in the grocery market, that smell not so different from the unnatural sterilized smell of Aperture. Her chest had constricted and her breathing became deep and measured and quick and she was so sure she could hear the innocent, child-like "I see you," from the isle next to her. She nearly took down three shelves trying to crush the imaginary turret without the help of the Aperture Science Handheld Dual Portal Gun, and the knot of embarrassment and anxiety still resided in her chest. The deep red liquid poured gracefully from the slim glass bottle. She hadn't truly intended to ever drink it she'd found it in the cellar when they'd moved into the quickly abandoned home but some days, she decided, it was more than called for.Not So Different3 years ago in General Fiction More Like This

Wheatley looked irritatedly at the core.
"Yes, we've been in space for the past two years! You're in space, I'm in space, we're both in space!"
Wheatley felt like he could cry- if an AI could cry, that is. The galaxy was so unforgiving. The stars and the moon and the sun, so far away and comforting from Earth, looked deadly here.
Could be deadly here.
"Oh, please, Chell, I'm sorry, soooo sorry Please, please come find me, get me Don't leave me here with this thing. I want to see you again Please " He whispered, but nobody but the Space Core heard.
At least, that's what he thought until an absolutely beautiful, murky, blue portal opened on the moon.

Oliver with his oversized sailors jacket waved at SeeU with hiss sleeve flapping around.
"Hi Ms. SeeU!" he said very happily with a big smile on his face. "You don't have to worry about me. I get ordered around all the time by my captain, so I know how to be a big helper!"

Little Daphnes weakly opened his mouth out of instinct, his eyes drooping shut as he fought the urge to sleep. When he latched on just barely, Zelda sighed a little, smiling in relief. He suckled slowly for a moment, then let go, causing his mother's smile to fall once again.
"Daphnes, please," she said desperately, trying one last time to get him to latch on, "you need to eat..."
However, Daphnes' weariness won out; without the strength to keep feeding, he fell asleep, his head lolling against her bosom. Zelda brushed the baby's bright, blond hair with her fingers as tears threatened to leave her eyes. Then, with a sniffle, she pulled his blanket over his tiny arms and held him close.
Child-rearing was supposed to be a wonderful, joyous thing, she thought... If that were the case, then why was it breaking her

Streamers lined up along the rows of the apple orchard. Each tree was decorated with a painted, bright scarlet smiling face. All of the apples in the wooden bushels he previously collected had a coating of caramel ready to be shipped out to Sugarcube Corner, something he was supposed to do later in the day when Granny Smith decided to take a nap in the middle of her duty. Before him on a luminescent pink picnic blanket was one of the largest, reddest cakes he ever saw with twirls of yellow frosting on the edges and a candle the shape of his cutie mark on top.
Big Macintosh blinked. He had forgotten his own birthday.
Pinkie Pie nudged him towards the cake, giggling excitedly. "With everypony all busy celebrating the royal wedding, I nearly forgot about your birthday being a day later! It would've been at Sugarcube Corner and a bit more exciting, but I figured I'd get you with a bigger surprise on your homefront!"

The irritating ringing noise wakened Mondo Von Unsymmet out of a sound sleep. He groaned, looking at the clock beside his bed. It was five minutes after five. V sun hadn't even come up yet. This was the one thing Mondo always hated about his profession....people would wake him up when they needed him. He couldn't very well say no, after all, he was a doctor.
"Yes..." he groaned, "Von Unsymmet, what's your emergency?"
Wait...he knew that voice.
"Nibor?" he sat up suddenly and then rolled over convulsively as a sudden stabbing pain shot through his backside. "Nibor, ouch....Nibor, what's wrong." He ignored his own pains to concentrate on the call. His own crooked leg gave him enough trouble that he was more or less used to it.
"Mondo, I really need to talk to you....Now." It WAS Nibor.
"Hon! What's wrong? Are you all right? " Mondo was truly alarmed now. Nibor had been a good friend since she had moved to Crookedtown. She had always seemed so young, but sh
