Gradually his eyes adjusted to the dim light, and were able to strain his focus on the young Georgian man that lay beside him. Despite the never-ending waves of infected that each new day brought, the two survivors had been fortunate enough to scramble into the safe house, avoiding any serious injuries.Sweet Dreams - L4D2 NELLIS SHORT STORY3 years ago in Short Stories More Like This
"Er, Nick?" Ellis repeated, in a soft tone. The conman exhaled heavily. Each time he slept, he hoped to awake to a different life. His opportunism had ran dry long ago, and even the concept of sleeping became meaningless. The dreams that had pacified him now haunted him. Every piercing screech, every bone crushing crack, every gasp of a dying breath all repeated and replayed whilst he slept. Each time he awoke, he relived those horrors.
"Mmh, yeah." He grumbled, carelessly squirming to face his lover. A faint comfort warmed him as their eyes lined up, and their cheeks momentarily brushed. As he scanned the hicks face,

It raised goosebumps on his neck and he let out a sigh, tilting his head when he heard the air conditioning turn on - again.Nellis- Sunburn3 years ago in Romance More Like This
The heat and humidity outside was making it harder and harder to keep it cool inside. Nick hoped his mechanic had an easy day at the shop, working where he could stand in front of a fan or take breaks in the air conditioned office.
Walking into the living room, Nick eased himself onto the couch, holding his mug up a bit so he didn't spill the coffee. He leaned back and glanced out the window. The sun was baking everything and Nick thought of calling Ellis to make sure he was doing alright. The hick had a few more hours left before he could come home, unless he was let out early because of the heat wave - which was doubtful.
Sighing through his nose, the gambler stretched his back to lift off the couch a bit, slipping his han

Hearing the sound of his name in the thick of night irritated him so much. The conman grumbled as he coldly stared at the wide-awake hick right across the make-believe beds.
"Whadaya want, Overalls...?" he mumbled as he slowly got up. Being split up with the other two teammates, Coach and Ro, was one thing, but awake during the winter in the zombie apocalypse?
"Ah can't sleep..." Ellis shivered. Nick rose an eyebrow. He's known the mechanic for, what, 3 months? He was known to be a hard sleeper, even in this snowy weather but for the first time, he couldn't sleep? Uncomfortably, he shifted on his blankets and the gambler swore he saw a shade of pink.
The hick just stared at Nick as if he spilled out a horrible secret, then looked away, embarrassed to say anything at all. These past weeks he's been starting to get more and more shy around the conman. Why? Just being next to him made his heart skip a few beats. Because he likes him? No...
"Why's that, Sport?" Nick asked quietl

I've essentially had depression since I was around 10 years of age, or rather it started developing around that stage. I had extremely narcissistic parents in particular my mother who was more or less in charge of myself and my sister after she split with my dad (It was really no big deal to me at the time nor is it now - my Dad hardly involved himself much with us anyway). She is a very driven, organized and disciplined person - these traits she also admires in other people and will beat into people if they don't already have them because it apparently what makes you win at life. Ok I won't argue that but the sarcasm comes in because not everyone wants to "win". Not everyone sees life as this rat race to climb the social status ladder and forcing your kids to be super high achievers so you can show them off as proudly polished trophies to your friends and family during social gatherings.
I don't want to win at life, I'm not a "winnner". I'm a "winger". I wing
