Fusiliers Forever: Epilogue
New Avalon, Federated Suns
1 August 3039
Hanse Davion, undisputed ruler of the Federated Suns, looked up from where he sat behind his massive, antique wooden desk when he heard a knock at his office's heavy bronze door. It opened, and just beyond he could make out the pair of armoured guards. Walking in was a tall, lean man with a fit physique despite his advancing years. He had a mane of white hair and wore loose fitting black slacks, a white business shirt and an unpretentious green jacket.
"What is it, Quintus?" said Hanse, seeing the unusual expression on Quintus Allard's face. As the Minister of Intelligence Investigations and Operation he was the top spy of the Federated Suns. These days most of his energy was focussed on the war with the Draconis Combine, a war that wasn't going nearly as well as the Fox had hoped.
Quintus held up a small holodisk. "This was delivered to me today by Co

Cera had a modest suitcase in her hand and Garadun a small dufflebag slung over his shoulder as they made their way to the transporter room. Jan and Nessa were walking behind them. Jan was trying to act cool but inside he was actually nervous. After only a month of serving with Captain Rigel, he was about to be left in command.
All right, so they were in orbit of Vulcan and all he had to do was mind the store for a week or so, but it was still an important responsibility. A lot of people might question the wisdom of putting an Orion in command after only knowing them for a few weeks, but it was all about trust. Garadun trusted Jan Koor to not try and steal Calypso, so Cera trusted him as well. And even if, theoretically, he wanted to steal the ship, there was Nessa to contend with. Jan knew the woman was loyal to her new Captain.
It came down to the simple fact that Jan Koor wasn’t a dishonourable thief. He had

One of the benefits of having your own ship is that it tends to save on hotel bills. At least as far as Garadun was concerned. Why waste money on a hotel room when you have a perfectly good set of quarters aboard your own vessel? It wasn’t as if he’d been in deep space for a really long spell and needed time off the ship.
When Cera had put Calypso in for restoration, one of the things she’d had done was a full renovation on all the crew quarters: new bunks, new fixtures, new floor panels, new furniture. For her own quarters and Garadun’s, she had Vega Station’s engineering teams take two pairs of adjoining cabins, remove the connecting walls and turn them into a set of suites. They were now the same size as those belonging to commanding officers aboard Constitution class starships, if not slightly larger. Each suite had a bathroom, bedroom, living room, and study. The rest of the ship’s cabins

Vega is one of humanity’s oldest deep-space settlements, dating back to a time before the formation of the United Federation of Planets. Back then it was called Vega Colony, and it was a central hub among the Earth Cargo Authority trade routes. Now the space lanes have grown considerably and Vega remains a major hub of interstellar activity.
The primary space station in orbit of Vega is Vega Station, which sees traffic from all over the Federation, as well as from outside it. It’s a modified version of the Watchtower class space stations used by Starfleet as Starbases; one of the main differences being that it lacks weaponry of any kind. Vega Station is a civilian spaceport, paid for and run by the Vegan government and its people, and it welcomes any and all who wish to use its facilities. In the extremely unlikely event of an attack, there is always at least one Starfleet vessel in the area to defend it. Often more.
