my pictures in new york~~wheeee~~ the digital art competition just streamed in NY times square this morning. (i think it's 5pm over there.) I've managed to snapped some screenshots from the streaming video.....it's so surreal. OAO;;; sheep everywhere...lol
the reporter was like..."some sheep flying over a beautiful NZ landscape"....:iconpapmingplz: and he was interviewing an old man while one of my pic was showing the background, the man was like silent for 10 secs, then said "they are all good, except i don't really know what they mean...." LOL Don't worry old man, i don't know what my flying sheep meant either. :iconmingplz:
the reporter was subtly advertising our university as well....>_>;;;;; since 4 of the finalists/winners are from our uni. bahahaha
A public service announcement for the kiddies:I know there are plenty of you out there who are capable of presenting yourself and interacting with others in a civil, intelligent manner even though you may only be 14-16 years old. In fact, some of you have shocked me more than once when I've found out your actual age! I was one of those weird kids who skipped the teen years mentally/emotionally (or as my parents say, I went straight from 12 to 22 age-wise), so I know it's possible. I've had the pleasure of talking to more than one of you about everything from anime audio tracks to art history, artistic integrity, and art criticism. Some of you have even let me teach you some things about drawing, anatomy, digital media, etc., and I've really enjoyed that. All of you have bright futures ahead of you if you're able to behave in such a mature manner at such a young age, that's for sure.A public service announcement for the kiddies:3 years ago in Personal More Like This
To the rest of you, though, here's a pro tip:
Acting like an idiot doesn't make you look cool.
It makes you look like an idiot.

Jane Austen: A Realistic Romance Jane Austen is one of those novelists who is almost always encountered in high school, whose realism, biting irony, and social commentary earned her the status of a great English writer. Her six works of romantic fiction critiqued the novels of sensibility that were very popular in the 18th century and highlighted the dependence of women on marriage for money and social status. Although she is now one of the most widely read writers in English literature, she received very little recognition while she was alive.Jane Austen: A Realistic Romance1 year ago in Literature Features More Like This
"Friendship is certainly the finest balm for the pangs of disappointed love."
A portrait of Jane Austen
Jane Austen was born on December 16th, 1775 at Steventon, in England. Although she had six brothers, she was closest to her sister, Cassandra, who was her most intimate friend and confidante. In fact, her moth
My SAI KeybindingsI've been meaning to write down my current keybindings for a while. They're mostly only left in my muscle-memory whenever I lose them... Now they'll be here too.My SAI Keybindings6 months ago in Personal More Like This
These are for SAI, but I use similar ones in any other program that allows it. They're set up so the ones I tend to use together are comfortable for my hand to switch between.
Oh, and I have tiny hands so these will very much reflect that too. : )
You may notice a lot of emphasis on selection tools here... Since I often work with clean lineart in my drawings, that's the natural approach for someone like me. For others, I imagine this will be more about the actual keybindings rather than the function they're assigned.
I highly encourage anyone to experiment and find what works for them. It can save you a bunch of time in the long run, as well as make your workflow far more smooth! I hope seeing my setup can inspire someone out there to customize theirs too.
Tools don't make the art, but using them properly can ease the process
AbnormalityI sometimes wake up in the morning feeling absolutely hopeless,Abnormality2 years ago in Urban & Spoken Word More Like This
Not feeling in my heart even a bit of happiness,
Wondering what exactly is wrong with me,
As I sit around aimlessly sipping in my morning tea.
Every day I dream of what I want to accomplish,
Fantasizing of a great life for me making me feel selfish,
Without realizing that dreaming makes you lose the sense of reality,
That makes your mind reach the state of abnormality.
I tried to seek help from the people I trust,
Some helped me, but some left me in the dust,
Telling me there's people with bigger problems out there,
So now every bad feeling I get I just have to bear.
Now all I think about is if I'm being weak,
But I can't stop the tear running down my cheek,
So I'll just bear with it until it goes away,
Try to keep my mind in control so it doesn't lead me astray.

Things I wish Deviantart would doSuggestions... and complaintsThings I wish Deviantart would do1 year ago in Personal More Like This
1. Option to disable the "there be monsters" gateway page when you get linked to a website outside DA. I just want to go to the damn page, and not have to click another link to get to the page I want. This is especially a pain in the ass when someone is sending you a bunch of reference images. (There is an extension that lets you bypass this but it's annoying you have to even resort to that)
2. Make automatic full view available for everybody, not just people with premium memberships (again there is an extension)
3. Option to disable the "this deviant watches you" dialogue box that appears (or doesn't appear) on people's pages. For some people, ignorance is bliss. I just don't want to know who does and doesn't watch me. It gives me a lot of anxiety and I cite this as my main reason for significantly reduced activity on this website. Nick's Birthday Tribute!Whether you knew him well, or were just an acquaintance, it did not matter, at least to him it didn't, as he treated everyone with the same love and respect. There is no doubt, that he touched the lives of many, a fact he was always surprised about. It humbled him, and he was truly grateful for the friends he has met here.Nick's Birthday Tribute!9 months ago in Art Features More Like This
It is that rarest of people, who could reach over mountains and oceans and touch all of our hearts. From every corner of the globe, to every walk of life, no matter your ethnic background, your political or religious views, no matter the color of your skin, or even if you spoke English, it did not matter to him, as he considered you all friends, and many, a part of his family.
He was your confidant, your mentor, your biggest supporter, your shoulder to cry on, your voice of reason and logic, and your cherished friend. He was all of those, to all of you, a person you could always count on, to always be there. He would listen to all of you, with
2014 Positivity Project So after my post last night I started thinking; positive thinking; I want to do something to promote positivity throughout the world, not just in my life so I decided to start a 2014 Positivity Project using a tumblr blog and hopefully make it grow more throughout the year.2014 Positivity Project1 year ago in Deviant Events More Like This
The 5 W's
What? The whole point of this project is to spread positivity through photographing inspirational/positive/motivational/uplifting quotes written on paper
When? NOW! You can do one once a month, week, day or just only once. However many times you want to do it! My goal is to collect 365 positive quote photos by the end of this year. If you do one, leave a comment in this journal, on my page or send me a note and I will add it to
Activity vs. Community When combining millions of artists working with different media, style, experience level, etc. being here can become overwhelming and finding your "place" can seem almost impossible. Throughout the last few weeks I've noticed more and more people asking "how can I be more active?" and "how do I get involved in the community?"Activity vs. Community1 year ago in Personal More Like This
These are both the same question and completely different questions at the same time. Though the answers to both are quite similar if not the same the difference between activity and community is huge! We're going to cover the answers and difference to both of those in this article.
There are three basic ways to being active on dA and getting involved the community. Everything after this will actually lead right back to these three things.
Commenting: is the best and most effective way to particicpate in our community becaus
