"I'm flying!" cried the girl.
She shouted in her heart anyway because all she could do right now was gawk at the rooftops and clothes lines and trees passing below her. She stopped feeling uneasy a while ago, holding on to her companion's hand. It was big, white and strong, its grip firm enough to ease her fears away.
She turned to her right where her new friend was. He looked very strange. His skin was all white. And he had long white hair. Which was nice. She found out he could use it to climb down from the door in the sky. That's where he came from. She thought it was a very strange place to put a door. But he said there was no other way for it.
She wondered why he only had two eyes on his face and nothing much else. His eyes were golden like her hair. And when he looked at her, she saw something familiar in there... in his head. She couldn't figure out what this familiar thing was yet. But she still knew it was there, and fe

“I didn’t think it was that bad…”
“No, of course you wouldn’t. After all, just a little while ago you were the one who was standing up in the center of town and trying to promote Thneeds by playing your silly guitar! But you’ve got to get used to being classier now. At this rate, you’re sure to be the top dog soon, and you need tastes to match.”

She stood up there on that balcony, as the scores of citizens below her cheered for her apparent “acts of bravery” during the battle with the Waisen Empire. It's not like she was one of the warriors who gave their lives fighting for their country, she thought. She merely showed up with that book, doing what she had set out to do; a goal that did not involve warring with the enemy country. And yet, they praised her--and it made her feel sick.
It was only a few days ago that it all started, though she found that much hard to believe. What was she doing before then? Just living life in the sleepy town of Rhoan, taking each day as they came. Writing stories, taking walks, and talking to the few people around her who mattered. So when did it all change?
The answer was simple; when The Book of Prophecy appeared. Now she was no longer the same,

I feel it's necessary to say 'dear [insert name]' at the beginning of every letter, because that's how we were taught to write letters, but some people just say the person's name without 'dear' and it makes them sound upset. I personally would like to say 'oh sweet' or 'oh so lovely' in place of 'dear' sometimes.
Oh sweet Kira,
Sometimes I imagine being a famous actor, author, or musician's son. How cool would that be? But the more I think about it, the more I realize it probably wouldn't be as exhilarating as it seems if I actually were. Their kids probably don't see them as superstars. And that thought reminds me that the family I have are superstars, even if it's only in my galaxy.
Oh so lovely Kira,
What's Mine Is Yours Tonight's the night. You are finally going to see your best friend, Karkat Vantas. The seemingly shouty capslock of text is finally going to have a voice and a face. You can't wait to see him. But then again, it is only webcam. You have to admit, you're a bit nervous. You look into your computer's screen which makes a pretty decent mirror if you try to look at yourself at the right angle. You grimace unhappily at your amber and blue eyes. Your hair is a bit spiked today. You don't know if that's luck or if you just forgot to comb your hair today before going to school. Ah well. What's Mine Is Yours3 years ago in General Fiction More Like This

Two people can win if they are from the same District.
I could barely get it through me head. All this time, throughout the duration of the games, I hadn't been able to stop thinking about that momment. Clove.
Eventually, I was confident that it would come down to the two of us. Just the two of us. Two people from District 2 who both want to win and return home. I dreaded that momment, when it would finally come.
That I would have to kill the one person I truly love. I wondered, if I would be able to do it. I think she, Clove, was wondering the same thing too. Would we be able to destroy each other? And if we did, would we be able to live on?
But now there is a chance, that we will both survive. There are only a few of us left now in these games. Only Katniss and Peeta are dangers too us, able to benifit from the rule change. They won't be a match for us though. Clove and I, we will both be able to go home.

I was a good Belle, too

Brimming with witches and fairies and magic)
I wanted to be a princess, back then
They were the ones who always found love, at the end
I wanted to be Wendy, too
Because she wore a blue nightgown and learned to fly
Now, I'd rather be Peter Pan, honestly

Back when the only disappointment

Or when I found out that the real Little Mermaid

The townsfolk of Egg gave the startled parents sympathetic squeezes. One never knew what to expect from fairy godmothers.
Small surprises and a few crushing disappointments aside, it was a cherished tradition for the fairy godmothers, once a year, to bless the children in every town and village that belonged to the King of the Red Hills. The godmothers were compensated quite richly in cobwebs and dewdrops gathered at dawn. The towns closest to the King's red castle always produced a crop of exceptionally beautiful or handsome children; further out, odd talents tended to appear. Everyone had heard about the boy who could take his head off, juggle it, and put it on again.
By the time that the godmothers reached the town of Egg, on the far distant edges of the kingdom wh

The beam of light hitting my face woke me up. I didn't open my eyes, but I felt my face getting warmer where the the ray of sunlight touched my skin.
I yawned and turned to my side to reach for Wanda, but my searching hands found only the soft covers on top of the cot right next to me. My eyes flung open and I was right, the cot next to me was empty. I frowned, jumped to my feet abruptly and made my way to the kitchen. Maybe she was waking up early to help out with breakfast, I thought, that would be something Wanda would do. I smiled to myself and entered the room and squinted because of the sudden bright light. My smile faded quickly as my eyes adjusted.
It was bright, brighter than many of the other rooms in the caves, and I could see everybody clearly. When my eyes didn't find the face I was searching for I felt my stomach drop. I shook myself mentally, turned around and made my way through the southern tunnel.
I was thinking about last night, one of my worst

"What?" Cinna said and he looked back down at his creation. It was missing something. Just a little addition in the jewels, blue flecks of flame. Yes, that would be magnificent. He was about to go into that before Portia flicked his forehead.

Today is her birthday. Rue's. We all gather around the small table in our home, the whole family, and cut into a tiny cake. We had worked hard to get the money for the cake and even had paid extra to have Happy Birthday Rue written on the top in red icing. We celebrate, even though she isn't here with us. Thirteen she is today. A teenager. I wonder if she even knows what day it is today. Where she is right now, in the arena. A tribute in the Hunger Games. Does she know that today is her birthday?
"Happy Birthday to you. Happy Birthday to you..." My family sings and I am the only one not joining in. Its all I can do to think back to her, the last time I saw her. At the Reaping.

I like driving through the country (though, as you know, I hate cars) and seeing telephone polls that grow like trees (why else do you think birds like them so much?) It's like they just sprouted out of the ground on their own to connect people whom live in the middle of nowhere to everyone else. I like how there are stretches of highway in the desert, like the wind blew away the sand and there was a road waiting to be driven to take you any where, to take you nowhere, to take you away.
I always hear people say that they were born in the wrong time period. That they are too sophisticated for all these fast vulgar times that we live in. That they are too smart for this generation, that the cloths just don't hang right, and that the music doesn't strike the cord they want that if only they were born a few years earlier maybe they would actually fit in.
What if they were put here now, not by mistake, but to change things and make them a little better, only they don't realize it be

You've been waking up a lot throughout the night, partly because of some nagging feeling of being afraid to really fall into a deep sleep, and partly because your wrist was really itchy! But of course those weren't the only reasons.
While trying to force your fingers through the tight bandages to scratch the scabbing wounds, you edge closer to the wall, and away from the sleeping form beside you. You were really cold, and Dave was really warm. Trying to get closer to that heat source probably should've been the most logical thing to do, but it made you nervous, scared even. What if he woke up with your cold feet between his legs and freaked out or something? That would be so embarrassing.
