The poem "Old Merlin" by Brian Buckley (from which the above masterwork is derived) is an excellent example of my preoccupation with the effects of Time and Mortality upon a once-great legend...you can read it here:

A new way of painting watercolours?Okay, yes, I'm still using water, paint and a brush, so whats so different?A new way of painting watercolours?3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Well, i'm using markers... not just any marker but a water-based ink marker, or watercolour marker. These are Aquamarkers, by Letraset, the same people who make Tria and Promarkers. They are twin tipped like most markers, with a thick tip for broad areas of colour and a fine tip for small or detailed areas, but these ones have water-based ink, not permanent ink in them. I've done a few pieces so far with them and have been impressed enough that :iconshufie: thought I should tell you about them.
There seem to be 3 main ways that you can use them:
▶After you lay down some marker colour, you get a brush loaded with water and move that coloured 'ink' around, mixing and blending it.
▶Apparently, they can be used straight onto wet paper for a really watery effect.
▶You can even scribble on a palette, add water, mix and THEN paint onto paper.
...but I'm too impatient for that,

Color Inspiration - RedHello again!Color Inspiration - Red2 months ago in Art Features More Like This
This is the first of a 7 part journal about colors. I'll take the opportunity of the 7 Days Color Challenge to share some material I've been gathering recently.
Hope you find this interesting for either the challenge or future projects. ^_^
Red has more personal associations than any other color. Recognized as a stimulant, red is inherently exciting. Red draws attention, so a keen use of red as an accent can immediately focus attention on a particular element. (shout out to extroverted people, that's your color (ﾉ◕ヮ◕)ﾉ*)
Red is particularly interesting because it's on both ends of the emotional spectrum. On one end there's passion and love and on the other there's danger, fear and anger. I'm wondering which of these emotions you most associate with the color red. ^^
It's the first color bab

Storm clouds cover the sun and darken the skies. It is time for a time–out, a reminder of the insignificance of our troubles when set against the full fury of nature, a cleansing of the landscape’s abused palate, and maybe a light show to make up for any inconvenience.

How to beat procrastination (part 2)Most of the excuses for not drawing is lacking of ideas. On part 1 of this journal I explained why I find it useful to keep a notebook with you, and to write down your ideas whenever possible. How to beat procrastination (part 2)8 months ago in Deviant Events More Like This
This second part is about developing the habit of drawing. Hope you find it useful!
Create the habit of drawing
First thing to know about creating new habits is that it works kinda like inertia law:
"An object at rest will remain at rest unless acted on by an unbalanced force. An object in motion continues in motion."
Which means that the more you postpone your drawings the more you'll feel like delaying them. This procrastination abyss can be endless. For instance, I didn't draw anything in 2013 until the end of August when I bought my fi
