ANCIENT SECRET ORIGINS OF LEONARD NIMOY’S Famous Vulcan Salute Revealed!
In 1968 The New York Times described it as a “double-fingered version of Churchill’s victory sign”
Today it’s a hand gesture as recognizable as a thumbs up or the middle finger. Leonard Nimoy invented the Vulcan salute as an exercise in character development. He told The Times that he decided the Vulcans were a hand-oriented people, and he felt it nece
Psychology meaning of doodles/drawings.*Disclaimer* not my own written work just a collection of notes from many sources.* Last Edit: 8/23/2014Psychology meaning of doodles/drawings.4 years ago in Personal More Like This
Many of us doodle and you may not realize it but doodles will actually tell you a lot about your personality and mood. The size, position as well as what the object(s) of focus of will lead you to some key clues. There are many different shapes, designs and colors of doodles, just as there are different dream scenarios, but there are some that are quite common and, as such, more easily interpreted.
Size and Placement
Large doodles that take most of your page, you are likely to be attracted to nature. Moreover, you might also have a reserved personality, but would want to socialize.
Small doodles on a corner of the paper suggest that the person is neat and organized in his/her ways. Because the drawing is placed on a side of the page, it shows that a person does not like wastage and prefers everything in its

Witchhunts among artists.I was very reluctant on writing this journal, as I often just want to inspire and write uplifting things. This topic is a little less so.Witchhunts among artists.2 months ago in Personal More Like This
The word 'Witchhunt' comes from a time were some women got accused for being witches because of their beauty or their way to modern way of living (being a single mother or non-christian in times where that was absolutely outrageous). Those women would get ridiculous tests to proof their humanity from which they ultimately would die (burning on the fire stake or getting drowned in a river.) The fact that they did not survive it would proof that they are human and not a witch. We all know that there are no immortal people.. so no woman had ever survived it.
Now when we talk about Artist Witchhunts it's pretty similar, an artist would get accused of using unorthodox methods or plagiarism. No one likes plagiarism and

ImbolcImbolc2 months ago in Personal More Like This
Also known as Candlemas, Imbolc originated as a Gaelic festival that celebrated the beginning of Spring. The world "imbolc" means "in milk" and during ancient times, lactating ewes represented one of the first signs of spring. Imbolc is also referred to as "Brigid's Day" in honor of the Celtic Goddess of Fertility. All celebrations are focused on rebirth and the banishing of the Winter season. For many it represents the change to come, both personal and within the world.
All the land is wrapped in winter.
The air is chilled and
Frost envelopes the Earth.
But Lord of the Sun,
Horned One of animals and wild places,
Unseen you have been reborn (The White Goddess Book of Shadows)
How do you plan to welcome Spring?

1. Leonardo da Vinci spent 12 years painting the Mona Lisa's lips.
2. Gothic was originally a term of criticism among the Italian Renaissance artists who coined it. The term implied that, compared to superior classical buildings, the Gothic medieval cathedrals were so crude that only a Goth could produce them.
3. On 3rd December 1961 Henri Matisse's painting Le Bateau was put the right way up after hanging upside-down for 46 days without anyone noticing at the Museum of Modern Art in New York, America.
4. Roman statues were made with detachable heads, so that one head could be removed and replaced by another.
5. Paul Gaugin, the French painter, was a labourer on the Panama Canal. About 25,000 workers died during its construction.
6. In ancient times, it was believed that certain colours could combat the evil spirits that lingered over nurseries. Because blue was associated with the heavenly spirits, boys were clothed in that colour, b

It's been a while since I've posted anything, but frankly, I think that's good. I've got a few ideas simmering and fermenting in the cesspool that is my brain, so I'll give them all the time they need! In the meanwhile, I've decided to go through my favorites folder and feature some works that I really adore. I'll start with visual work, and then do some literary features!
Deviants, to me!

Leonardo da Vinci's Anatomical DrawingsIf getting your gear together and heading out for an evening of life drawing sounds like more trouble than it's worth, consider what Leonardo da Vinci endured for the sake of educating his own singular vision.Leonardo da Vinci's Anatomical Drawings3 years ago in Art Features More Like This
Rumors of da Vinci resorting to grave robbery persist to this day, but the truth is that he was allowed to dissect and study corpses at the Hospital of Santa Maria Nuova in Florence.
Leonardo da Vinci's studies of the human skull in 1489 borrowed three-dimensional drawing techniques from architecture that had never been seen applied to anatomical studies before. A new technical vocabulary for anatomical drawings was created and da Vinci's sketches in plan, section, elevation, and perspective marked a massive progression in how the body was documented.
Criticized for his undertaking, Leonardo passionately defended the purpos

I used to live in Texas with my close friend Cheyenne, and being a military family, it was time to transfer. 6 years we were the best of friends, (I think it was 6...) and we never fought. Then, the surprise came that I had to move; to Oregon. Not what was planned, or on our dream sheet. It was so out of the blue that we had to go so far from our family, MY REAL family. It was okay when I first moved away, but six months after she came to visit me in what would be seventh grade for us, everything went downhill for her. She was (and still is) totally convinced
