In the heart of Venice, Italy was a small café. It was not a popular tourist hot spot; it wasn't even all too well known among the locals. It was simply a tiny establishment on the side of a smaller waterway that branched off from one of the river flows that went through the center of town. The inside was very small, but elegantly decorated with silk and lace. Small candles sat in between every table and a waiter with a suit served hot tea. Outside the café were several small round tables made of iron. The metal curved in smooth patterns around the bases of the cushioned chair; it all looked deceptively delicate, especia

I kept telling myself it was just my imagination (I definitely had a big one), but my instincts told me otherwise. I finally made it to the bathroom where I waited in silence for Casey. Looking at the entrance I realized someone else was there or at least I felt like another person was there. I'd been staring at the entrance for what seemed like hours when in reality it had only been a couple minutes.
"You came." a voice said from behind me.
"Don't scare me like that!" I exclaimed once I saw it was Casey.
"So..." She replied, sizing me up as if she were trying to determine if I was good enough, "You're it? You're Camryn?"
"How'd you kno

"Shhhhhh" the wind seemed to be saying.
I started to take in my surroundings, having no idea where I was or how I got there. The light of the blinding sun filtered through the trees' branches, making the dew on their leaves shine with perfection. The sweet smell of daffodils covered, the forest of trees around me.
"You have come..." a voice suddenly said, breaking the silence.
Out of nowhere a young girl appeared in front of me. She could've been in kindergarten, still all chubby from when she was a baby. Her long hair, the color of silver, trying to hide her dark purple eyes like a sword protecting valued gems. The girl was bare

A two-story, blue and white house sat on Sun street, where a beautiful green lawn could be seen. Roses, daisies, and tulips rested in pots near the front door. Birds chirped, attracted by the bird bath in the middle of freshly cut grass. Inside were paintings, both realistic and abstract, that hung up on hallway walls. They had been painted by the owners of the house, a great hobby for both of them to enjoy. The living room held two satin couches, a wooden coffee table, and an old fireplace. Three pictures sat above the fireplace in a straight line, on top of the mantle. The picture on the right was a little boy covered in chocolate cake

Once ago, a student asked me,
"Why do you smile?"
The student was young.
A little bud in a sea of bundled up flowers.
"Why do I smile?" I think to myself.
I do not answer the student,
Pondering at my own intentions
That I shamefully hide behind
The closed gates of the Forbidden City.
For the time being
I say to the student, "Think for yourself first.
I will tell you in time, young one."
I watch as the student nods
And hops away with a frolicsome stride
I sit there, a mudan in hand
And simply think.
Truthfully, there are not many things in life that one should smile about.
Pain is around every corner. Deceit and lies are what

48: Rose "Doctor?" I called blindly into the TARDIS. I had just been in the library, looking for a good read, and I had came across a really dusty old book with the title worn off the side. When I picked it up to see if the title on the front was visible, and a picture fell out. The picture was of a very pretty girl with dirty blond hair and brown eyes. Ordinary enough, unless you know the Doctor. You see, in all the time I've known the Doctor, he's never carried, or owned, a picture. Not of anyone.48: Rose3 years ago in Short Stories More Like This

Suddenly though, he fell to the floor air rushing into his lungs as he let out a mighty gasp.
He stared up into his attacker's venomous eyes, his chest heaving and he felt fear course through his veins. He wanted to say something, but he w

The sound of the sirens is what has stayed with me. I remember the explosions, the engines of the Messerschmitts, the screams of men trapped beneath the rubble. Of course I do. But it is the wail of the sirens that yet haunts my dreams, settles that same cold sickness in my gut, that same cold slickness on my palms. It is the banshee shriek of coming death.
The night was cold and clear when that sound prickled along my arms like so many icy fingers reaching out from behind the drapes.
Rowan stilled her hands at the typewriter and ripped the sheet from the machine, lest some unscrupulous eye should take advantage of her temporary absence. She snatched up a grey cardigan, a torch, and the requisite gas mask, and had nearly gotten to the door before she turned back to look at me. Her dark eyes were as empty as ever.
‘Are you coming?’ she asked as she stuck one arm into a cardigan sleeve.
‘I’ll follow later,’ I said. ‘

A tall angel turned his head at the many calls for his name. He wore a simple light blue shirt and white jeans, but no shoes, and had long light brown hair, which was pulled back into a ponytail, save a few strands. His eyes were bluish green, and full of humor as the small group of angels bounced on the clouds toward him.
There were five, all of them at the age of ten, and all of them happy and winged.
In front was a girl with reddish hair which was pulled into loose pigtails. Her wings were bright red, green, yellow and blue, quite alike a scarlet macaw's. This was where she had gotten her name, Scarlet.
