It was still a heavenly sight, even now.
Keys were pressed at lightning speed across Magical Melody's piano, assembling a collection of tones with a pronounced classical air. In time, Binary Match recognized it as as a casual rendition of Parasprite Waltz.
Melody hadn't noticed Binary looking through her window yet, and so continued to play. It was like before they'd met, with one clear difference--instead of wrinkled frustration, Melody's face now displayed a peaceful smile.
Only when the song was finished did Binary knock on the front door. Almost immediately she heard the light scrape of a piano stool and the equally light tapping of hooves--galloping hooves, since when did Melody have that much energy?--approaching the door, which opened in mere seconds.
And, then, there was Melody, in front of her, staring at her--and still wearing that smile.
Binary waved. "Hi there."
Melody's smile grew even bigger. "Hi, Binary! Come on in."

Sweet Apple Acres, along with the rest of the countryside surrounding Ponyville, was bathed in the brilliant glow of Celestia's sun. A light breeze stirred through the treetops of the orchard, bending some branches and blowing loose leaves from them. Each leaf that left a tree fluttered through the blue sky, coming to rest on the ground when the energy imparted upon it by gravity ran out, allowing it to settle peacefully on the grass-covered ground. Each new gust of the breeze brought down more leaves in this way, just as each new gust brought with it another fresh chill in the air. The chill heralded an unwelcome arrival, each breath of cold air was another reminder that the nights were growing colder and longer. Winter was coming, and it was coming entirely too fast.
The idyllic scene was only disrupted by a single sound. As the breeze blew and the trees swayed, a repetitive ringing noise sounded across the landscape. The noise rang out, scattering the peace that had previou

At the time I thought it was a kinda neat sound - might make for a good sample to use in my next mix. Something new. Something original. Something to make the next crowd's heads turn. So I go follow it, right? And the sound picks up further as I sea

Rain hit the roof of the cloud home, making small thuds as two pegasi laid side by side in a warm bed. Fluttershy had come over to her dear friend, Rainbow Dash's home to spend the night. She never liked being home alone while there was a storm, so she would escape to her filly-hood friends and spend the night and also some quality time between just the two of them.
Fluttershy watched her friend sleeping beside her, wishing she could experience the same but, no matter how hard she tried; sleep would continue to deprive from her. Fluttershy turned over to face the window and watched the rain pour down the panels.
The rain reminded her of her first day of flight camp. Also when she first met Rainbow, and the first storm they experienced together

First, I would like to thank you for the opportunity to study abroad. My friends and I are enjoying ourselves and learning many new things here at New Rodes High School. However, we do miss Applejack. If you happen to be in Ponyville, would you say hello from all of us? I have had Spike send her a few letters, but she doesn't have the magic necessary to send back any responses. We would love to hear from her.
I apologize for monopolizing your time with such a selfish concern. Allow me to return to my report on the Magic of Friendship. Interestingly enough, the atmosphere here in the City of Starlight seems to have affected our inner Elements of Harmony. We are now able to transform into our Elemental forms at will, all of us, and I can sense a brimming spiritual energy unlike anything we've ever used or seen before. I will keep you posted with any further updates.
Your faithful student,

What was I thinking?
A star-adorned tiara plopped onto Twilight Sparkle's bed.
It all looked to so good in my head! The actual outfit even looked good! At least to me... but I'm no designer, am I?
Two oversized, star-plastered sets of earrings and bows followed.
And the whole time, I pushed her to make it. Constantly correcting her over the most minor of details, forcing her to abandon her design sensibilities, and being ungrateful about a dress that she had offered to make me for free!
That dress, cluttered with animal and constellation designs, joined her jewelry on the bed with a soft ploomf. Twilight looked at the ensemble, only now finally able to see it for the trainwreck it was.
Whew. Back to some semblance of sanity. But the damage is already done. It's my fault. I asked for this, and I got exactly what I wanted... at the expense of a good friend's image. Maybe even her career. I'm the absolute worst.

There was precious little light coming from the filly's room, but what illumination was still there allowed Applejack and Rainbow Dash a near-perfect view into the guest room that they had given over to Scootaloo. What they saw stunned them into speechlessness for a good moment. Scootaloo lay on her back on the bed, her head pressed deep into the pillow by Applebloom, who had curled her way on top of the other filly. In the dim light, Applejack and Rainbow Dash could only just make out the fact that they seemed to be kissing. Albeit clumsily and completely without regard whatsoever towards the finer aspects of such an experience, their lips were pressed together awkwardly all the same.
Applejack made to protest, but her words were denied entrance at the tip of her lips by a great barrier, that turned out to be one of Rainbow Dash's forelegs. Before she could even register her disapproval with a grunt, or make any sort of noise at all for that matter, Applejack found herself

Applejack seemed in a daze as she stumbled down the stairs. Her mind swam and, as much as she tried to fight it, kept returning to that image. The image of Rainbow Dash standing before her, distraught, in pain, bleeding it was too much. Applejack shook her head, flinging it from side to side in a desperate bid to clear her vision of what she had seen, but to no avail. It seemed burned in. Her thoughts kept returning to it. It stung her as it swirled through her subconscious. Again and again, the sight of a stream of the deepest crimson, set against cyan fur, flashed across her mind's eye. The sound of electrical humming sounded out through the silent room as Starfire felt her legs vibrate a little. Suddenly there was a knock upon her door, and she looked up again. Oh, my amaranth,
My undying flower.
Such beauty eternal.
I have watched you from afar
And your beauty shines like the morning star.
How I wish I could shower you with my love.
Must you be so cold...?
For all I want is you to hold.
And heart torn.
Is it this face?...my disgrace.
If in me a monster you see--
Oh yes--a monster I can be.
Drink deep from the chalice of hate.
Open wide, Damnation's gate:
Embrace the evils that dwell within--
Let the chaos begin.
Strife, my art:
The will of a longing heart.
Try to fill the emptiness.
Strike down upon my love denied;
In its stead Chaos shall rise,
For with madness have I allied.
Hah! An empire built on hate,
This world that I create,
So terrible to behold.
My soul has been sold.
Heart torn asunder,
As I stare in wonder:
Her gaze, so filled with hate.
Oh yes, I do deserve this fate.
Elements cut me to the bone,
Flesh turned to solid stone.
Over my broken body, Harmony: restored.

As the title states, yes, I have a real grudge against the popular hive and subsequent hive-mind fanon that many have come up for the Changeling species in My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic. Why? I mean, after all, the Changelings are at least part insectoid in appearance, as well as taking orders from a larger-in-size Queen and so a hive society and hive-mind does make sense or is at least rather fitting, right?
Well, to some extent, I think both yes and no. True, the Changelings are at least part insect and the whole Bee People, Hive-Mind concept has its place in popular culture, especially when it comes t

It was all so exciting
First time on the surface
With my mother, elder queen
We hunted the emotional souls
First taste of emotions
I swallowed the sugary love
First feast on emotions
I drank all of the sorrow's salt
We roamed the overworld plains
While relishing treats, the earthling souls' ether
I dreamed of the future ahead me
On the warmth of mother's lap
First feast on emotions
The taste of milt stayed on my tongue
First taste of addiction
Sugar of love and sorrow's salt
We watched the sundown
Since those days when I was small
We saw the fortress
I yearned to taste that joy once again
The euphoria in my mouth
Filling me with hopes and dreams
Raw force within the heartfelt
Passion of the young embrace

I held in a growl watching Fluttershy panic in fear as she tried another loop. That pegasus is such a scaredy pony. It had been just about the same thing for the past hour or so. I'd demonstrate the trick Fluttershy would try, she'd panic, fall down, and whimper how sorry she was for failing. She's a pony that you can't seem to stay mad at, but she could be really aggravating at times, though.
Seriously though, I shouldn't be complaining. I was the one that had taken a day off weather duty to spend some time with Fluttershy and teach her a trick or two. But all she seemed to learn so far was a half loop, and how to fall without breaking anything.
Fluttershy sat on the ground, shaking her mane to cover her face. She was obviously embarrassed.
"Its okay, Fluttershy. You put in a great effort. It just takes practice." I had to hold back a choke at grea

I never expected Dashie to die
The only one who could teach me
Has passed beyond this reality
I flex my wings, never to be used at all
And tears began to silently fall
The only teacher I thought worthy
Is gone for all eternity
I'm too depressed to go on
I hope you'll miss me when I'm gone.
I never really flew, I never tried
Over these mistakes I rarely cried
Dashie never wanted to teach me
And never will, sadly
Equestia was wide, too late to try
I really wish Dashie survived
My only goal, in this short life
Was to get her to teach me flight
I never thought I'd never fly
I never expected Dashie to die
Give all my things to my friends
Make sure they don't meet my same end
Suicide isn't the best way to go
But it's the only way I know
To end this pain, this fearsome foe.
Put the Gun up to my head
Pull the trigger,
I never really flew, I never tried
Over these mistakes I rarely cried
Dashie never wanted to teach me
And never will, sadly

The Second Battle of Everfree Forest was the decisive battle during the war; it was here in the forest that even now many fear to tread that saw the fortunes of Equestria reverse from broken to a military machine that would expel the changeling hordes from Equestria. As detailed in the previous chapter, the first battle was a completely unmitigated disaster for the forces of Her Majesty. It is from defeat that lessons are learned the best and the outcome of the Second Battle of Everfree Forest proves that moral all too well.

An Appledash fic inspired by the short story "Of horseshoes, apples, and feathers"
It was a glorious day in Ponyville, the smell of autumn indicated the changing of seasons as summer came to a close. On a lonely high cloud in the sky over Equestria, a cyan-coated pegasus who had an distinctive rainbow mane was sleeping peacefully. Her name was Rainbow Dash and she was in the middle of her daily afternoon nap after a day previously of napping and practicing her tricks for the Wonderbolts. It was Sunday and Dash's day off, but she still had work to do for somepony else.
"Apple bucking with Applejack!" Rainbow Dash screamed as the thought came to her head, waking her up. "Oh no, oh no I'm late!" Rainbow panicked as she scrambled to get up off her cloud. "I'm late, I'm late, I'm late" she told herself as she flew off towards Sweet Apple Acres.
Sweet Apple TussleIt was nice cool day at Sweet Apple Acres and most of AppleJacks' morning work had finally been finished. It wasn't close enough to lunchtime yet and she didn't quite feel like going into town. She took in a deep breath and closed her eyes as a breeze blew past her, standing her coat on end and sending a slight chill through her. AppleJack wasn't usually one for slacking in the middle of the day but her chores were finished and she had some time to herself so she decided to take a short stroll around her orchard. The shade cast by the talls trees was a bit cooler than being out in direct sun but still wasn't cold. The mix of light and shadows as the sun shone through the branches and leaves made the workhorse relaxed and feeling nostalgic about all the time she'd put into working her farm. She had a personal connection to everything on her land and there wasn't a tree here she didn'
