Dis be ol' Leathohead!

Okay, so does this guy need an introduction? The gator from the cajun swamp, Leatherhead.
I wanted to give him a little more cocky look, like he would be totally full of himself, but still able to kick some a**.
I personally like how the grin turned out.
Also I kinda gave him a more australian look rather than cajun (yeah kinda stereotypical), sort of like an homage to Steve Irwin and Crocodile Dundee.

It's been a while since I drew Raph and Mikey, but I figured I'd add Leo to the set. Pencil drawing with digital color.

In early 90´s Archie comics edited a series from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, in those comics appeared some "mutants" (Ray Fillet, Leatherhead, Wingnut, Screwloose, Mondo Gecko, Jagwar and Dreadmon) who later had their own comic. These guys were introduced first in a 3 issues mini series (in which they were in a crossover universe with the TMNT) later, they had his own comic without the turtles named "The Mighty Mutanimals" but, this comic only had 9 issues due to low sales.

After that, the Mutanimals appeared in some TMNT regular comic backups and finally disappeared from the TMNT universe...(the way they were taken was really a shame -_-)

My friend got TMNT: Turtles in Time reshelled, and demanded I play it with him so he can get trophies easier. ( Trophies. Bah humbug! )

But damn him to hell! Ever since I played it... I started getting notalgic for the Ninja Turtles... I thought about them from time to time but that's it... till I decided that I would draw a TMNT picture.

Drawing a huge picture like this needed research. I drew the four Turtles, Casey Jones, April, and Splinter. But the hero side looked patheticlly small... so I added some characters I remembered, like Mondo Gecko, Leatherhead and Usagi Miyamoto. And some lesser characters like Irma... some charactesr I barely remembered like Man Ray/Ray Fillet, and the Fugitoid... and then I just flat out started drawing characters I never heard of like Wingnut and Ninjara ( despite having a comic that features both characters in my comic bag, having recently dug it out... )

It was hard to make a choice for who to draw. Im not sure Mona Lisa was a good choice to add, seeing as how she was just a one shot character. But being a sucker for Lizards, I coudn't resist.

I was also on the fence about adding Venus De Milo. I barely remembered the character at all, and after research, I learned that creators Eastman and Laird hate Venus with a passion. They always thought a Girl Turtle was a creatively bankrupt idea, and was stupid. Basically a non-canon character, or an alternate universe character ( Alternate universes are like... MAJOR for the Turtles... ) Buuuutt... people don't forget the jokers. Look at CD-I Zelda games. Nobody can resist poking fun at them...but I do think Venus can be taken more seriously than that. So here she is, but pretty obscured.

I added 3 Utroms from the comics... apparently, they are responsible for the Turtles mutation, and are the basis for Krang in the old TMNT cartoon. Also, apparently in the new cartoon Shredder was just an Utrom named C'rell.

I chose the villains I was most familiar with... but there were some that I didn't know much about too. Like Slash... I only knew about him from TMNT: Turtles in time... but reading his backstory made him seem all too lame. Oh well.

I included both versions of Baxter Stockman, as the two characters are possibly the most different from each other, they may as well be different completely.

Tokka and Rahzar... I loved those guys...but TMNT II the secret of the Ooze was probably the worst sequel to a good movie I have ever seen. It seems the two appeared in several other incarnations of the TMNT too, not just that movie.

...

Okay so I tried my best to include characters from every incarnation of TMNT. But I guess I failed... as most of those characters are from the Classic TMNT cartoon. Oh well. I am a nostalgiafag to the max.

I recently heard that there is supposedly going to be a fifth TMNT movie... if it's anything like the last TMNT movie, color me unexcited.

But I am more interested in another recent development...

There is a TMNT straight to DVD movie coming out that is going to take the 2003 TMNT, the 1987 TMNT, and the original dark and gritty TMNT from the comics, and they are all going to meet, each bringing characters and elements from their respective universes. That intrigues me. Tokka and Rahzar are also set to appear in this, too.

Oh yeah. One last thing. Apparently at the official TMNT site, [link] , you can read a lot of the early comics. I have been doing that for the last couple of days... Really primitive art style that takes some getting used to, but it's beautiful.

It's LeatherHead from Teenage mutant ninja Turtles. This is the original 90's cartoon (good version) of him. Like many other pieces I wanted to take a realistic approach to the character. Hope you enjoy
