Choice comments on the idea of a female Doctor...Choice comments on the idea of a female Doctor...2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Though not quite going what I'd call "viral", it's interesting how far my 12th Doctor concept art (featuring Ruth Wilson as the Doctor) has gone beyond DeviantArt today (even retweeted by Paul Cornell!). The most Thunderdome-like exchange was undoubtedly on the Facebook group "Doctor Who and the TARDIS by Craig Hurle". Many of these amounted to "No GIRLZ! LOL. Bring BACK DAVID TENNANNNNNT." But a few people opposed to the idea of a female Doctor (which honestly, isn't the main agenda of the piece- I just think Ruth Wilson in particular would happen to make a really good Doctor) tried to stand up like bipeds and debate. One guy covered pretty much all the points I've heard against without sounding too hateful. Though he does lead off with one of those "I'm not sexist or bigoted, but..." beginnings. And we know how those comments usually end up...
"I am not saying this in any way to be bigoted, sexist, or in any other way suggesting that a woman would be less of
::Doctor Who Head Canon::So what if after Peter Capaldi's doctor we have a young and distrustful one? So I imagine Capaldi (Lets call him 12) will be a bit more serious in his humor, if that makes any sense. Instead of being the cute and floppy hipster we've all come to love as the floppy, drunken giraffe 12 is going to be more graceful and stoic. Like a mixture of 9 and one of the classic whos (Just not 4) and whos oddness is similar to that of 10's. SO 12 will be intense like 9, funny like 10, but serious like 1.::Doctor Who Head Canon::2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Think of it, you go from 13, which I have just described, to a youngster again but not like 11, no sir! 13 will be young but he will be disstrustful! It will be harder for him to pick up companions because he'll be racked with memories from past ones and the fear of humans in general because of something I haven't explained yet.
If you remember I believe it was 11 that said that Amy was the first face his face had seen and so it was like she was imprinted into

Joss Whedon is most famous for creating Buffy the Vampire Slayer, its spin-off Angel and the short-lived but much-loved Firefly series. But the writer and director has also worked unseen as a script doctor on movies ranging from Speed to Toy Story. Here, he shares his tips on the art of screenwriting.
1. FINISH IT
Actually finishing it is what I’m gonna put in as step one. You may laugh at this, but it’s true. I have so many friends who have written two-thirds of a screenplay, and then re-written it for about three years. Fin

Some NightsMy fiance and I were on our way home from Tripps Restaraunt when we heard this amazing song on the radio. My fiance managed to find out what it was called and by who. It's called "Some Nights" by a band called Fun. I listened to it....and I shit you not.....it totally reminded me of Garrus Vakarian from the Mass Effect series! We also loves how they mixed alternative with 80s beat. It was so damn catchy! Ironically it was played on 99X.Some Nights4 years ago in Personal More Like This

What do I stand for?
Most nights, I don't know anymore.
This is it boys.
This is war.
What are we waiting for?
Why don't we break the rules already?
I was never one to believe the hype.

A River Song's Point of View Story [Doctor Who]He looked at me. He looked right through me. As if I was just another person he had to look out for. I know it shouldn't hurt me, I knew one day the man I loved, and still love, will know nothing about me. I knew the time for us was going to end. That our chapters in our book will shortly come to a conclusion, but I wish it had come later. He was still handsome and incredibly smart. He'll always be. The times we shared are precious to me, they are memories I'll never forget.A River Song's Point of View Story [Doctor Who]3 years ago in Personal More Like This
He took me to the Singing Towers. My, what a lovely time we shared. Though, he had that faint look in his eyes, as if he was mourning something, or someone. I guess he knew it was my time. My time to end the chapters. He looked at me that day, with lust in his eyes. It was the first time we shared a real connection. Of course, I knew there was something between us(a spark), but the Doctor was never meant to love. He was the last Time Lord. The last child of Gallifrey. And he was the man I love(d

R.I.P. Mary Tamm, 1950-2012Devastating news today: Mary Tamm, the original Romana (and probably the most glamourous "Doctor Who girl" ever) has died after a long battle with cancer. Truly shocking, especially on the heels of Caroline John's death from cancer just weeks ago (and Nick Courtney and Lis Sladen last year). Her Romana was a brilliant, "too cool for school" character who really felt more like a partner-in-crime for the Doctor than a "companion". Do yourself a favor and watch the KEY TO TIME season if you haven't seen it. It's wonderful stuff (I'm especially fond of THE ANDROIDS OF TARA), and the best thing about it is Tamm's brilliant performance.R.I.P. Mary Tamm, 1950-20123 years ago in Personal More Like This
She'd already recorded an entire season of audio adventures with Tom Baker, which'll be coming out next year from Big Finish. It''ll be a very bittersweet experience listening to those now.

This is why the Doctor is RealThis is something that actually happened some time back, but I didn't really write it down or anything. Lately though, I was thinking about it, and I wanted to share it with my friends here. This is why the Doctor is Real3 years ago in Personal More Like This
To give a little background, everyone in my family watches (and loves) Doctor Who. I have a very young sister who has only gotten to see a handful of episodes of the new series because the rest would scare her, but she still was desperate to see more of the Doctor, so we started watching the classic episodes together. She's our little Whovian. She loves all the Doctors, especially Eleven and Four, and she said Sarah Jane is her hero because 'she must be, like, the bravest person EVER and I want to be brave like her.'
I guess that's why I wasn't sure what to tell her when one day she walked up to me, a serious expression on her little face, and asked 'Sarah, is the Doctor real?'
I was stunned. I thought she understood it was just a show. She's never even believed

Doctor Who XMas showOK, I am still feeling pretty down today, but I wanted to comment on the upcoming Doctor Who Christmas episode. Let me first say, what I have to say here is my own opinion and I mean not to offend anyone.Doctor Who XMas show3 years ago in Personal More Like This
(sighs) I like Doctor Who, but for me, the show has been going downhill ever since Matt Smith's debut as the 11th. And the past two Christmas specials have been in the string of disappointments in his tenure. The 2010 one was just an uninspired A Christmas Carol piece and last year's... I won't lie, I was so bored and disengaged by it, I gave up watching it at the first commercial break. Now, in all the time I've watch this show, this is the first time I've ever given up on watching an episode. I still have never seen it in its entirety.
Now I've seen promos for this one. I had hopes, given we'd get the new companion, but the enemy appears to be killer snowmen. I'd much rather prefer Ice Warriors or the Robot Yeti. Still, I will try to catch it and hopefully it won't be a repeat
Chinese New Year Art Contest! In just a few short weeks The Lunar New Year a.k.a Chinese New Year, will be upon us! It's the Year of the Dragon!
To celebrate, 4th Dimension Entertainment will be holding its 1st ever Chinese New Year Art Contest!
The theme of this contest is: The Year of the Dragon!
It is a pretty broad theme because dragons are awesome, and we want contestants to have a lot of choices in how they work with the concept!
The rules are simple: Create an original piece of art.
You must incorporate art, characters, symbols, and/or imagery from one or more of the following 4th Dimension Entertainment series:
Smoothing, Sanding, Buffing Polymer ClaySmoothing, Sanding, and Buffing polymer clay is definately something that you don't hear a lot about in the younger polymer clay community, but it certainly does make your pieces look a lot better in the long run. If you smooth, sand, and buff your clay AND add a layer of varnish - watch out, your pieces will look as bright, beautiful and glossy as a piece of delicious candy.Smoothing, Sanding, Buffing Polymer Clay7 years ago in Art Features More Like This
Have you ever noticed that translucent clay really isn't THAT translucent? Well, if you smooth, sand, and buff it - you'll be seeing differently! It really DOES get see-through!
Give these tips a try, and although I can't guarantee that you will get it right the first time, practice makes perfect, and sometimes new techniques take a little getting used to before you find a way that works the best for you.
Smoothing your clay is what you do to your clay before you bake it. Running your fingers along the surface and smoothing out bumps and impurities can work wonders on a piece and give it a ve

On March 1, 2012 the Nevada DMV issued the first license for a Google Driverless Car. The idea behind this innovation is that one day soon new technology will drive cars safer and more skillfully than humans, thus saving lives and billions of dollars in car crashes. How well this idea catches on is a bit questionable, given the powerful “romance” of driving one’s car, but it’s certainly an indicator of things to come in the daily intersection of human and artificial intelligence and mobility. There have always been those who have dreamed of stepping into a mechanical exo-skeletal-type “suit” and letting the engineering do the work, insta

EDIT: RUN YOU RAGGEDY MAN! FIND YOUR WAY HOME!
I don't know what was cooler.
1. Seeing the Zygons again after such a long time.
2. Seeing Billy Piper playing the Big Bad Wolf.
3. Seeing the first Doctor I ever knew Tom Baker walk up to Matt Smith.
But of course we knew about David Tennant and William Hurt but how they used Billie Piper was a twist. It was nice to see her again.
I think this cheered up many a sad Doctor Who fan.

My Best Motivational TipWhen I become overcome with the guilt and shame and fear as a result of my constant procrastination, I have one trick to get me off my ass that works every time.My Best Motivational Tip4 years ago in Personal More Like This
Now, lots of other people and blogs and whatever are all like "look how lucky you are" and "puppies and rainbows" and "if you get it done now, you'll feel better" and lots of other positive shit. While all this stuff is true, I'm still playing Assassin's Creed II for like four hours a day. It doesn't motivate me at all. I still don't want to write a 500 word essay on the subtle differences between the book and the film adaptation of The Road that's due, like, tomorrow.
So here's what I think of.
"Michael Bay wants me to fail."
Insert your own celebrity arch nemesis if you want to, but basically choose someone so crap that it makes you angry. Preferably someone who's getting paid buckets of money to do whatever they do to piss you off.
Competitive nature and the desire to prove your chosen asshole wrong should take over.
