On her first night together with Garrus, Shepard had been mildly concerned about the talons that she knew turians possessed. She trusted Garrus with all of her heart and knew that he never intentionally harm her, but there was that instinctual distrust of sharp claws near her softer human flesh. Of course she had been thinking of entirely different things by the time that evening reached the stage where his gloves came off, and then she didn't' have the luxury to think about minor details until after they had blow the Collector base to bits.
Being under house arrest had given her more than enough time to think, and Garrus was one of the happy memories she had she to stave on the crushing boredom. One of the questions those memories brought up was if turian anatomy charts and Alliance descriptions of turian talons as 'vicious natural weapons' were overly exaggerated or if Garrus had blunted his just for her.

She turned on her side and readjusted her pillows for what was probably the hundredth that night. As weary as she was, sleep should have been an easy task. Unfortunately her mind did not want to cooperate with what her body was demanding. Her mind wanted to think about Earth and all the horrors taking place there, about Kaiden and the angry bruises on his face, about Palaven and about Garrus. She hoped her turian friend was alive and well. Shepard uttered a dejected sigh and pulled herself off the mattress. She arched her back, stretching the sore muscles on her lithe frame that protested against the notion of having to do more work. Perhaps a stroll around the Normandy would ease her mind. Shepard stepped into her slippers and made for the elevator.
The CIC had been eerily quit even if the hour was late. The silence a reminder of when the Collector's had abducted her crew. Shepard chased away the memories of the Collector base. She did not need another horrible thing to dwell on. The

Liara glanced at the commander sitting anxiously at Ashley's bedside, shoulders haunched and tense, body grimly stiff. "Of coursee he hasn't," she said resignedly, sighing a little. "He's determined not to move until she does, I'm afraid."
James raised his eyebrows, surprised. "They that close?"
Liara allowed a small smile to cross her features. "What, you couldn't tell on Mars?"
"Hell, was the arguing s'posed to give it away?" He sounded skeptical.
The asari shook her head with a chuckle. "They're always bickering about something, big or small. Doesn't matter what it's about. I remember once they had a massive fight simply over who was going to drive the Mako, back when we were chasing Saren.
James grinned, amusement lighting his dark eyes. "Nah, you serious? Sounds like a story, I gotta hear this."

Summary: Garrus faces the reality of serving on a human ship.
The hum of the engines hadn't bothered him before Donnelly and his crew installed the silly torque compensator (which was entirely unnecessary to begin with), into the guiding of the starboard cannon. Either there was a loose panel on the compensator, or the tech team didn't return the original panels in proper positions, and now there was a sickening resonance with one of the lower frequencies of the mass effect drive.
Garrus had demanded that the engineering crew come back and reassemble the entire thing, but Donnelly wouldn't hear of it. Literally. Garrus brought him in and instructed him what to listen to, and where to put his hand in order to feel the vibration. In the end, he even produced the frequency analysis of the entire spectrum of ac

"That's easy for you to say, party boy. I've been a little busy fighting the galaxy's deadliest enemies. There's not a lot of time to dance when you're zooming around space. Not much shore leave. And anyway, dancing isn't important. I can shoot the head off a Geth from 200 yards away. So what if I don't have any rhythm?" He laughed and rose from the chair where he had been watching her.
"Everyone knows what you can do with a gun, Lola. And that's all well and good. But you need to relax, belleza. You can't run around killing things all the time. Sometimes a person has to blow off some steam, or just forget about the chaos for a while. Besides, you're the one who asked me to teach you to dance, remember?" She sighed and nodded her head.
"You're right. Sorry. It's just not something I've ever had the need to do before. But the crew dese
Insecurities--Garrus and RyleeThe familiar sound of the main battery door whooshing open filled Garrus' ears, followed by the even more familiar and beautiful sound of Commander Rylee Shepard's soft steps. Sir Isaac Newton is the deadliest son-of-a-bitch in space.
Rylee had spent ten minutes drilling that into his head after overhearing the Gunnery Chief on the Citadel. Then she'd had to explain who Sir Isaac Newton was and that Sir was not his name, but his title. Which had taken another ten minutes. Then he'd stupidly thought to ask why a long dead scientist was the deadliest son-of-a-bitch in space. Another ten minutes for that. At that point, he just gave up.

Commander Shepard was used to long days. As she rubbed the back of her neck on her way toward the elevator she reflected that people seemed to think she was invulnerable. When you were the savior of the galaxy several times over, people tended to forget that you needed little things like food and rest. It was as if they expected you to be able to live on heroism alone.
At least she finally had some time to herself. After chasing a group of slavers down, coming back to find the Alliance brass was waiting to speak to her over the comm, and arguing with them for another hour, she was able to end her shift. She was going to go back to her cabin, finally get a hot shower, then fall into bed.
However, when she finally reached the elevator, Traynor

"But are you really, Garrus? Are you really okay to just leave things as they are?" She asked and he sighed.
"Not okay but... She's a quarian and he's a turian. It could never work properly. They're too... different. That's why she turned him down for the human guy and why she keeps friendzoning him." He said and Shepard frowned at the familiarity of the words before she remembered that she had been the one to first say them.

The echoes of gunfire drowned the battlefield. Nevada Shepard dashed to cover in a freshly exposed room from a rocket blast. The building was barely standing after the ambush from Cerberus operatives. The pillars were creaking and the walls were crumbling apart but it was her only option. Hunched under the window opening, she signaled Major Alenko and Lieutenant Vega to move forward. She pulled out the M-98 Widow and surveyed the surroundings, counting the remaining operatives.
As she commanded her squadmates to take out the three Cerberus soldiers, she noticed a bright flash through the scope. A rocket soared directly towards her location. Without any hesitation, she ducked down and covered her he

Liara felt well, due in large part to the forced sleep. Somehow it had been sweet of the Commander, to kidnap her to bring her into her own bed and Liara had needed it. Ashley Williams prided herself in knowing that she could maintain her balance and grace, even in the direst circumstances. Today however was a different story. She would have never thought that such a menial task would result in her making very close contact with the floor. Hell, she could stay upright when 15 husks were trampling her. She supposed that the long trip back to the citadel from the wretched colony made her especially uncoordinated as well as the recent events that occurred there.
Williams regained her composure and made her way to her bedroom, and kicked off her boots and jacket, eager to get into the plush bed . Once inside the warm covers, she closed her eyes in an attempt to quiet the guilt and hurt that plagued her mind.
Inevitably, her thoughts drifted to that disastrous day. She had hear
