Sol.Terra - Episode 1.1: Terra DayCal stepped into the doorway of his shuttle and raised a hand to shield his eyes. The light on Terra was so harsh, particularly this continent. He reached into his coat and pulled out the tinted glasses and the bio-scanner he carried. Slipping the glasses on, he checked the scanner screen to make sure he had landed in the right place. The readout confirmed it: Sol.Terra, Australia, Sydney. A small blip on the corner of the screen told him the Soschan he’d been sent to find wasn’t far away. Too violent for IU membership, many Soschans had taken to using their unique camouflage ability to emigrate Off-World illegally. This suited Cal just fine, as it gave him an excuse to travel there as well to pick them up.Sol.Terra - Episode 1.1: Terra Day2 years ago in Short Stories More Like This
Pocketing the device, Cal stepped down onto the dry grass and looked out across the small park and at the city properly, his breath coming out in a small whoosh. Balloons and streamers of every colour scattered the park and street. Garlands draped across the lamp posts a

Lost. . . That's what he was as he lay cradling the end of his severed limb. Shaking fingers touched the cold metal that surrounded it now, keeping it safe from infection. Tears of despair slipped from his closed lids. Obi-Wan had warned him not to give in to the Dark side as he left Yoda. Lost was the look in the little Jedi Master eyes as he watched the X-wing lift off and disappear into the heavy mists above. He was going to save his friends, who were lost to undeniable pain. Their suffering cried out to him and he was lost to the urge to go and rescue them.
Lost. . . That was the feeling that gripped his heart when the Dark Lord stood over him and proclaimed his paternity. Far worse than the pain of a thousand limbs being severed from him. Inconsolable was the grievous denial that erupted from deep within his core. With one step back he was lost to the howling wi

Anakin opened the door of their suite and looked up past the brown folds of Jedi cloak to a masked alien face. He did not recognize this Jedi, nor the orange-faced youngling standing next to him, one of her pudgy hands gripping his trouser leg. She could not have been older than five, not if her species aged like Anakins.
Without looking around, he called out, Master Obi-Wan?
The tall alien said, Good day.
Anakin heard the footsteps and rustlings of Obi-Wans approach from within the young Masters room before Obi-Wan passed in front of him to soberly shake the visitors hand. Master Plo. Its good to see you.
Plo said, And you. The entire Temple waited to hear of how things fared at Naboo.

When he hears Obi-Wan call Qui-Gon Master, it is as if the ship has lurched beneath him; he has been terribly nowhat slaver would go through such an elaborate ruse to capture one boy, even a top racer? And he can sense the rightness, as surely as if he were beholding the wonders of the Jedi Temple already. (He is not sure what those wonders are, as mostly when he imagined Jedi they were flying or fighting, but right now the air seems as imbued with promise as with oxygen.)
So he assesses Obi-Wan again, and sees a man younger, less scarred, than Qui-Gons example had lead him to imagine Jedi to be; were he raised in Mos Espa, Anakin thought, Obi-Wan would be...what? A gambler, a farmer, a vagrant? He does not seem to fit any of those molds. On Tatooine, anyone with such...such a shy sort of politeness, paired with the authority and skill shown by the fact he carried a lightsaber, would be left alone.
Obi-Wan was waiting when Anak

I was trained by a Jedi, who thinks he knows many values, who told me that I was destined to bring peace to the galaxy. Yet, no peace can be restored by the Jedi, they are weak. Then I found the one solution that would help: I will cleanse the people that are infected by this plague, and destroy the vermin that started it. I can never go back to the Jedi, not after they lied to me my entire life. Dooku is just a weak old man, a sad child trying to hide the depression that overcomes him. My

An unnatural silence lay over the moors of Khanduras. The moon hung high in the night sky, but no dogs howled to it. A soft breeze brushed trees that were otherwise untouched by wild animals. Its said that animals can sense when a natural disaster is approaching; if thats true, then the same must hold for unnatural disasters as well, for they had all fled these plains. This was no longer a place for the beasts of nature; evil dwelt here now.
Through this wilderness, a single traveler walked. Covered in a heavy cloak to protect them from the elements, the only things not concealed beneath their shroud was a hand axe that hung from their belt and the faint sound of metal clanging together. Though surrounded by darkness, the traveler didnt seem afraid. Their perseverance was rewarded when a faint light poked through the trees and began to get brighter as the traveler drew closer to it. It was a campfire, and a large one at that.

Two Weeks Ago: Hoth
Despite the best cold weather gear the Empire could afford, Lord Anodyne Vao was losing the battle to make her teeth stop chattering. Hoth on a nice day was one of the most inhospitable planets in the known galaxy, and this was not one of those days. It had been a hour since the engines of their speeders had seized, frozen solid from the cold. Even with the help of the force the cold and wind blown ice pellets had slowed their pace to that of a infants crawl. An hour, it had taken them to hike the half kilometer to their current location, of which was the shattered edge of a crater, overlooking the mostly intact wreckage of the Republic cruiser once known as “Utopia”.
The “Utopia” along with hundreds of over vessels had been lost in a battle between Sith and Republic forces some thirty years prior during what was now being called the Great Galactic War. Since that time, it had been a three way race between the Sith, Republic and pirates to sa

In the dim light of her ships cargo hold Anodyne Vao, Dark Lady of the Sith stared up at the face of Ari’tana, Jedi Padawan. It was a face that was now frozen in behind a layer of carbonite, contorted in a mixture of pain and shock, the usual involuntary response a living body makes when the near instant freezing process of the carbonite occurs. Anodyne did not like the practice of using carbonite freezing to transport prisoners. While it was a practice both the Empire and Republic both used when dealing with high value, high risk targets, Anodyne found the mental trauma that it caused to the subjects often times hindered the interrogation process later. Something that hindered her job as a Inquisitor. While many Inquisitors reveled in the slow drawn out process of torturing a subject for information, Anodyne prided herself on her ability to quickly and efficiently get the information she needed, and the carbonites side effects only slowed that down. But Ari’tana while only

This lesson is going to focus on adjectives and adverbs, because I've only been tossing in descriptive words occasionally throughout these lessons. (And it was harder to create that I realized it would be. Forget learning new languages, I may have to go back to school to relearn my English!)
Like the lesson on verbs, the lesson will be in regular text, round brackets will surround notes from me, and square brackets will be around direct "lesson quotes" from Karen Traviss' Grammar Guide. (Which can be found on her webpage, and I highly recommend downloading it for personal use.)
(Working from a list of common English adjectives and adverbs, I have compiled these lists I will have obviously missed words in the dictionary, please just bear with me.)
[Adjectives and adverbs are formed by the addition of the suffix -la or -yc, depending on which makes pronunciation easier. There is only one form of the adjecti

Anne Rice's vampires are, somehow, ALL Toreador. Twilight's too.
So yeah, but there's more to it than just "art".
A friend, Christopher Turco, shared this with the VTM community :
On the subject of Toreador:
A lot of people really don’t get this clan. They think of them just artsy fartsy, high falutin’ types with no real depth or potential as vampires – let alone characters. They envision some comic parody of Andy Warhol at best or a mannequin of poor RP at worst.
I’ve run Toreador as my favorite bloodline since ’94. I can tell you that they have the potential to be one of the creepiest clans, but it’s in how you read between the lines. Namely, the obsession with beauty. A lot of players think they just stand around looking at pictures. The entrancement can be more sinister than that.

Tali'Zorah nar Rayya may have been taken aback by the revelation that her childhood friend was the same man that had been trying to kill them for the last few weeks, but she wasn't about to let it keep her from getting Ren'Gerrel out of there alive.
She shrank the video feed of the interrogation but kept the audio streaming as she began her search to pinpoint Ren's location. Tali pulled up every schematic she could find of the old ice tunnels, committing to memory every minute detail of the sparse blueprints and hazy camera feeds. Occasionally she flipped back to the video from Ren's chamber, either because the conversation was growing heated, or to get a better look at the room's dimensions. Whilst Zeras'Boa admitted that he hadn't expected his prey to recognize him, Tali was busy studying the breadth of the walls and angles of the corners. Getting a good idea of the room's measurements Tali jumped back to the schematics and started scanning for chamber

Captain Reynolds, commanding officer of the SSV Nightingale, was having the worst day of his life. The war was over and that meant that for most of the Alliance the worst part was over. But for the medical professionals from every race in the galaxy that ran the forty seven hospital ships of Task Force Haven, the truly horrific work started now. Caring for the wounded, disfigured and dying was a thankless job that would continue for the next several decades.
He was ready for that, trained for it and planned on it. What he did not expect was the parade of VIPs trying to get access to his med-bays. Access to Shepard. He was even given a lengthy list of peo

She smiled, and then everything went black. There was no more pain, no more fear and no more regrets. Her mission was over, she had won. And with that in mind, Shepard welcomed death like an old friend...
Suddenly the soothing emptiness was breached by a wave of images. Blinding lights, strange figures and locations, rushed through her mind too fast for her to recognize. It was an armada of information that was trying to tear her head apart. And little by little that force managed to tear away the darkness surrounding her. The light shining through the holes in the darkness impaled her like spears, and the sudden vastness of the outside world felt terrifying. She didn't want to leave this place; she be

Liara's Story Chapter 1
This is fanfic, I own nothing, and know nothing. Characters in the story belong to Bioware and all that legal stuff. Though I am a big fan of all things Tali, Liara got stuck in my mind for a while. I couldn't help but think of what made a 106 year old tick, and be so naïve about some things. The answers, for me at least, was having a sheltered childhood, diving into academia to earn a doctorate (probably not easy for a race that lives that long) and burying herself in her work. Unknowingly seeking to avoid putting herself out there and not get hurt. This story that rolled around my head for two weeks until I had to write it, talks of this and eventually why she reacts the way she did when encountering Shepard on Illium later. It's weird how the story of a game can get so into your head, aint it? Get out of my head, dude!
