The United States of America, New York, Top of the Rock, September 30, 2013

I had a business trip to San Francisco and Costa Rica in the second half of September, and I decided to spend 3 days in New York on my way back. This is a classic view of Manhattan at sunset taken from the Top of the Rock - observation deck of GE Building in Rockefeller Center.

GE Building was completed in 1933 as part of the Rockefeller Center. The noted Art Deco architect Raymond Hood led a team of Rockefeller architects. It was named the RCA Building for its main tenant, the Radio Corporation of America, formed in 1919 by General Electric. It was the first building constructed with the elevators grouped in the central core. During construction, photographer Charles Clyde Ebbets took the famous photograph Lunch atop a Skyscraper on the 69th floor. In 1988 the building was renamed into GE Building.

Belgium, Ghent, Early morning, August 18, 2012

Ghent is city in the Flemish region of Belgium, located halfway from Brussels to Bruges. Archaeological evidence shows human presence in the region of the confluence of Scheldt and Lys going back as far as the Stone Age and the Iron Age. There were founded two abbeys around 650, and by 800 it was quite a big city. By the 13th century Ghent was the biggest city in Europe after Paris. Today the city attracts lots of tourists every day.

Here is the view of St. Nicholas' Church and the Belfry.

Canada, British Columbia, Vancouver, August 10, 2011

Vancouver is a coastal seaport city on the mainland of British Columbia, Canada. It is the hub of Greater Vancouver, which, with over 2.3 million residents, is the third most populous metropolitan area in the country, and the most populous in Western Canada.

Vancouver's Downtown is a unique place. Situated on the coast, it is surrounded by mountains. Numerous seaplanes and boats, containerships and ferries go here and there in the harbour all the time. Vancouver's skyline is said to be one of the most beautiful among modern cities.

"You’re gorgeous, baby, you’re sophisticated, you live well...Vancouver is Manhattan with mountains. It’s a liquid city, a tomorrow city, equal parts India, China, England, France and the Pacific Northwest. It’s the cool North American sibling." – The New York Times

"Vancouver is a city unlike any other. Wherever I look, I see water or mountains -- or both. And everyone looks so healthy." – The Daily Telegraph (UK)

The United States of America, San Francisco, Yerba Buena Island, September 18, 2013

I took this picture during my business trip to San Francisco. I had never been to SF before. So I had a few ideas of places where to go for night shooting. Yerba Buena was one of them and it did not disappoint me.

The Bay Bridge is a complex of bridges spanning San Francisco Bay and connecting San Francisco with Oakland. It is a part of Interstate 80. The bridge has two decks: the lower one goes from SF, the upper - to.

Russia, Moscow, view from one of the Kremlin towers, September 3, 2013

Many people want to get to the Kremlin towers to see the wonderful views, but unfortunately the towers are closed to the public and only a few people have access to them. During shooting of Moscow Military Tattoo festival (which takes place every September on Red Square) this year I was lucky to see Moscow from the Spasskya ("Saviour") Tower. The weather was changeable: sometimes rainy, sometimes a bit sunny :)

This is teh view of St. Basil's Cathedral from the Spasskaya Tower of the Kremlin.

Turkey, Istanbul, the roof of the Seven Hills Hotel, April 21, 2011

Sultan Ahmed Mosque is a historical mosque in Istanbul, the largest city in Turkey and the capital of the Ottoman Empire (from 1453 to 1923). The mosque is popularly known as the Blue Mosque for the blue tiles adorning the walls of its interior.
It was built between 1609 and 1616, during the rule of Ahmed I. Like many other mosques, it also comprises a tomb of the founder, a madrasah and a hospice. While still used as a mosque, the Sultan Ahmed Mosque has also become a popular tourist attraction.
