A Chronicles of Man Short Story
The chime pierced the silence of the flag officer's quarters aboard the Alliance battleship Kilimanjaro, and Vice Admiral Harriet Spencer's azul eyes opened begrudgingly before the chime called again. Sighing, the five foot nine woman rolled to her side and glanced up at the communication panel at her bedside, tapping the glowing accept key and designating voice only. After all, it wasn't right for an admiral to talk to her subordinates while half naked.
"Spencer, go ahead." She said and noted the grogginess of her own voice as she checked the time. Zero t

All my life I have chosen practicality over everything
As I have chosen anything over emotion.
But now...
Love? ....or Logic?
I met someone
Who I think needs me.
And who I think I need.
Love? ....or Logic?
If I choose love, I lose everything I have been working for.
But if I choose those goals,
I may lose what happiness I have not managed to purge myself of.
Love? ....or Logic?

It thrives in a person's soul,
The benefit of surface beauty some do reap,
But the beauty within is what makes one whole,
If one is vain the world will see,
But the kind and meek none do seek,
Fame and money they say is the worlds true key,
But love and true happiness, akin to the meek.

A faster world under a wider sky
A stronger body, a sharper mind
Would you be afraid to change?
Humans crawl and humans die
Seeking forms that let them fly
To shed old genes like butterflies
What should we lose? What can we gain?

Of all the battles which are sung, none are as noble, brave, and true
As the tale of this single ruinous one, that I shall try to sing for you
An enormous fight so horrific, that it is spoken of with dread
And the old ones still weep, for the many that are dead
Through lies and treachery, armies assembled on that plain
Not knowing, not even guessing, that there was nothing to gain
This battle was the fifth and last of the war being fought
A devastating conflict that by the end, was all for naught
A mighty alliance forged from three strong and steadfast races
Dwarves, Elves, and Men, still could not resist Morgoth's deadly maces

Can you see that light illuminating the heavens?
It brings false hope to the hearts of men
I no longer can …
see my path lying
Between the world of the damned and the world of man
I had no choice
In the world of angels
Where beauty masks silent sadness
I broke free
I fought for my independence
Thus crept in my heart a darker malice
For on this path I trampled…
I bled
So I sought the flames of Hades
To purge my soulless body of love
A love that deludes the lost ones above me
I fashioned new wings
With feathers to match my sins

because you were raised
by greed.
Dipped in ambrosia,
resting on clouds
of silk and satin
that caress every inch

As humanity burns
outside your haven.
You are priestess
and temple
and god alike.
The world is your oyster,
and yet,
you pluck it from the sea
in search of pearls.

When they came in, they always came in fast. They skid low across the atmosphere like silvery stones, flushed with coldness and dawn. It seems like they had been coming for a few years now, and perhaps observing for some time before that. We knew what they had been doing for awhile, but due to the scale of the previous conflict their depredations went unnoticed. Unnoticed at least by nations and armies. The inhabitants of a remote farm would go missing. Bandits, of course. A fishing vessel might disappear, just before dawn on a clear calm night. Drift mine, most likely. However, the disappearance of all the human inhabitants from cert

"Eyaaahhhh!!!" Haruko cried as she was pinned down. One person pinned each arm down, and two other people were pinning her legs down over her head. She grit her teeth, trying to overpower her attackers, but it was no use, she was just too tired.
"1....2....3!"
Counted one of her attackers. Haruko was in the living room of her own house, having a mock match on the floor with all four of her brothers. They all managed to keep her down for three seconds right before Haruko sprung free of the boys' trap. Haruko laid face down on her stomach panting heavily before looking looking at her neko brothers. They were only about a year or two younger t

The self-elected Savior with his fistful of broken puppet strings
His beautiful, ancient hate
And all-too-modern smile-
If He is there,
Curled, recovering, in the dark belly of the world,
Waiting and planning and growing in dead water and stewed ignorance-
If He is there,
Spewing self-righteous hatred from the mouths of children
And drain gates
And smiling politicians-
If He is there,
Then my pity is not for Him,
But for His.

Apart Chapter 2: The SummonsA few hours later, Hinata was awake, going through the motions of getting ready for the day. She had risen from her bed, from the security of her quilt, wiped her eyes, and had slowly hopped into the shower, like an automaton. Hinata's eyes never looked up as the warm water washed over her, washed the salty remains of her silent tears away. Her head was bent in sadness, in self-pity.Apart Chapter 2: The Summons6 years ago in Teen More Like This
She got out, dried herself, and threw on her normal clothes, pulling her soft hoodie over her head and slipping into its comfort. Breakfast was a glass of milk and some toast, and she munched it halfheartedly, her pale purple eyes glossed over and half closed.
