I was recently contacted by an online retailer who wanted to "promote" my artwork by putting it on their products that they sell, such as tee-shirts, prints, and who knows what else. People, by no stretch of the imagination is this promotion, this is straight up asking to use my work for free as if they're providing some sort of service to me. This is exactly the sort of thing that I would normally sell my artwork for, which is how I make my income.
To any young artists out there, please don't ever fall for some crap like this. From looking at his website, it looks like no one has fallen for it yet, but I've seen other, similar, predatory business models that have successfully exploited artists. When you make artwork you put in time and labor, and you should never give that away for free, especially not to people who are trying to make money for themselves, but aren't willing to sha

A guardian who watches over us. We can't know what form they'll take. One day, old man. Next day, little girl. But don't let appearances fool you. They can be as fierce as any dragon. Yet they're not here to fight our battles but to whisper from our heart reminding that it's us. It's every one of us who holds the power over the worlds we create.
We can deny our angels exist convince ourselves they can't be real. But they show up anyway. At strange places. And at strange times. They can speak through any character we can imagine. They'll shout through demons if they have to, daring us, challenging us to fight.
And finally, this question: The mystery of who's story it will be. Of who draws the curtain. Who is it that chooses our steps in the dance? Who drives us mad, lashes us with whips and crowns us with victory when we survive the impossible? Who is it that does all these things? Who honours those we love with the very life we live? Who sends monsters

Giallo is Italian for yellow… and Horror
In the wake of the real life horrors meted out on Italians during World War II, brutalized by Mussolini and then by Nazi occupation and then having their country used as one great battleground chessboard between Nazis and the invading U.S. and Allied forces, there was for a long time little appetite for horror in movies. It wasn’t until 1956 that the first genuine horror film (a vampire story) was produced and released. It bombed, soundly rejected by the public. The film would be of little note

Burns one man's vendetta on fires of drunk delight while Heaven's rainbows burn and sparkle in the sky.
The fascinated coo while boredom freezes cold and watches while his breath fades steaming into night.
The pennies for the guy jingle in their tin while he a traitor burns, his Cath'lic soul in Hell.
The animals run scared, not from fireworks, but from th'unholy sound of Guido's punishment.
He screams a silent scream that no-one else can hear, save God and pets and Satan's wailing hordes.

There was once a time when art depicting the lands west of the Appalachian Mountains as pristine wilderness awaiting exploration was censured by church and state as distracting from more important matters of the common pieties of home life. But there have always been those who need visions of grander realms for the journeys they can only dream of experiencing, but that may one day be rest stops on their great–great–grandchildren’s celestial road maps.

There are quite a few websites being called out for "art theft", where you use the website's search function, and your artwork will almost invariably come up. The current one I've seen is called "Axsoris", which sounds delightfully like my favorite pairing in Kingdom Hearts, but is in actuality a VERY dangerous website loaded with malware, so not only will I NOT provide a link, I will also warn that you don't even try to find it.
There are two important things you need to know about websites like these:
1. They did not "steal" your art. ...YET.
The art is "stolen" (if you want to call it that) as soon as you or someone else searches for it. This is some new script malware-spreading websites are using, and while the intent is to dupe unsuspecting people who wander across the website to use the search, this works EXCEEDINGLY WELL on concerned artists who worry that their ar

His Books of Blood in the 1980s established him as a premier master of the horror narrative, on an equal level or even surpassing Stephen King, who said of him;
I have seen the future of horror, his name is Clive Barker.
Like King, Barker’s works of horror have been adopted and adapted for movies, his stories becoming the basis for the Hellraiser and Candyman series and many more. Beyond his stories being used as source material, Barker has worked as screenwriter, producer, actor and director in the film world.

Architect Rem Koolhaas has completed a “vertical city” complex in Rotterdam, bringing a new style of multi–purpose skyscrapers to the city skyline. Bennett Stein wrote about the new buildings for KCRW’s Design & Architecture blog, calling the creator “the Godzilla of architecture.”
Here’s an excerpt from Stein’s essay:

passion into your profession. But there is a way of measuring your chances on being
able to get work and eventually sustain a living from it.
Accepting commissions or freelance for low payment won't help you. You can think any penny counts, but it will lower the worth of your work and damage the market.
How to measure that you are ready?
You probably have high goals, but they are usually not your first step. You must search out the clients who can be that first step. Often found in the card game industry, book cover illustrations and smaller game company's.
Look at the artwork shown by a company such as the card game company: Fantasy Flight games. Compare your skills with the average of their artworks. If it matches yours, you will have a chance. However, keep in mind that those artworks had been done in a limited timeframe, usually within 12 hour
The Importance of Reading ComicsWhen I was a kid I read a lot of comics. Today, I still read a lot of comics. Over the years my tastes have expanded to different publishers and genres. My reason for reading them has also changed a little. I have always read them for the story and the cool artwork but lately I have found myself examining and studying the artwork in comics much more closely than I would have before. What I am noticing is all the aesthetics that go into a comic book. As an inker of course I'm looking at the inks! I am starting to notice all the minor inconsistencies and mistakes that happen while making comics and some that I have seen in my own work. It has been a major inspiration in that it tells me that everything I do doesn't have to be perfect. Granted, that doesn't mean be sloppy and inconsistent with your work. As a comic book artist starting out like me, I think it is a very useful tool to read the comics that are coming out and to study them and the artwork and how they come together. Change is not something that we take lightly, because it affects our collective identity. It was important for us to define who we are and what we’re made of at our core before we changed anything. We all have our own understanding of what that means, but the process of getting that core story down on paper took almost a year.
The result is “Bleed and Breed Art.” This is our center of gravity and our reason for getting out of bed in the morning.
It is the guide and the justification for everything, including our business partnerships, the development of the new app and the design of our new ide

What does 'Character Design' mean?
The character design is the process which comes after the characterisation and consists in defining the character through his/her physical appearance.
We need to consider a character as a little fictional creature, human or not, that aims to please its creator and the public as well.
While the basic characterization of this fictional creature (his tastes, his fears, his behaviors) may take a little mental effort, as it is a sort of list of emotions, facts and feelings that come and go in the life of a character, the process of visual realization of this creature may not be as simple. That's why many writers and characters creators prefer to rely on experienced hands.
Also many of the mental aspects of the character are not possible to gain by using 'static' visual medium. For 'static' I mean all the illustrations and drawings unable to tell a
