Rain came down in droves outside my family home. I sat on the couch with my dad, Peter Maza, watching the evening news. The rain had washed away the late snow and made the world miserable, cold, and damp. I myself had just started to dry off, my trusty red jacket hanging on the coat rack by the door. I sat back in the lumpy sofa, a beer in one hand, not really talking to my dad. That's how we were sometimes. We just sat and enjoyed each other's presence.
I was about to make some comment on the latest new snippet about some idiotic driver who had managed to get their prius airborne and landed in the side of a building when the doorbell rang. I looked over at my dad who had just lifted his own beer to his lips, cocking a silver brow on his ruddy face.
My mother, Diane, bustled out of the kitchen, a Technicolor apron tied around her matronly figure. The house smelled like it always did on Sundays, full of savory and sweet smell
garg-coffe date pt2I sat in the small coffee and enjoyed the feeling of a good laugh. I hadn't laughed like that in a long time. The shakes of the body, the contraction of my ribs and sides, along with the happy euphoria that always came along with it. I enjoyed laughing, I really did, but there was hardly a place for it in my work schedule. I had enjoyed a couple laughs with the adolescent gargoyle, Gotham, but even those were few and far between. Since the clan leaving the Eyrie Building, Gotham had become broody and withdrawn. It was my job to look after him, to keep him from becoming uncontrollable and that sapped most of my time at night and the rest of my days were spent with Burnett doing whatever Mr. Xanatos needed us to do.garg-coffe date pt22 years ago in General Fiction More Like This
It felt so good to just laugh.
Derek's laugh died to a deep throaty sound and he took a pull on his coffee. His dark eyes looked around the shop, a smile tugging on his full lips.

Oz Gargoyles-CarouselThe nursery was dark as Cherry Wayne rocked her new born son in her arms. A small nightlight that looked like a old fashioned carousel turned on a dresser, showering the walls with spots of light that were shaped like stars and musical notes. A small tinkling tune came from the nightlight which Cherry sang along with, rocking the sleeping infant in her arms.Oz Gargoyles-Carousel2 years ago in General Fiction More Like This
She couldn't remember a time she had been happier. She was blissfully married to the seemingly eccentric, but philanthropic playboy, Bruce Wayne, who was truly Gotham City's savoir, Batman. Her daughter from her first marriage was finally in her custody and sleeping soundly down the hall in her own room and now, after all the heart ache and anxiety and worry, she had her son, Thomas Milo Wayne. After her miscarriage of years ago due to Oz serum poisoning, Cherry worried she would never have children again.
Cherry kissed the sleeping baby's cheek, inhaling the scent of baby powder and lavender lotion when her hair stood u

"So, anything happen?" The lantern eyed gargoyle asked and Gotham shook his head.
"Nothing, except," The smoke colored gargoyle shook his head. "I feel like something happened before I came in, I-I just don't feel right leaving her alone,"
Lexington laughed and placed Alex in his crib. "You're just paranoid! You're as jumpy around Cherry as Burnett is,"
"I just don't want anything to happen to her," Gotham murmured. He cared for the curly haired woman. He supposed the warmth he felt was the equivalent a human child felt for their parent. With the clan rearing him, he had never known who is parents were. He was content with that. There was security in a clan full of parents and a clan full of brothers and sisters. He m

Anticipation churn in Cherry's gut as Owen lead her to the large desk. David had never steered her wrong, kept her out of his more complex schemes, and had forgiven her walking out on her position with her messy falling out with Preston Vogel. He had even given Cherry a promotion, moving her from being his secretary and aid to Owen, to becoming Fox's assistant. Mrs. Xanatos was needing more help with the merging of her father's company and that of her husband's and Cherry was happy to be needed.
Owen helped Cherry to a seat to a chair in front of the large desk as Xanatos came out of a side room, his wife by his side.

Gargoyles-1 yr later ch1.2Cherry watched as Preston kept his back to her, busing his hands with pouring some whiskey at the wet bar set against the wall next to the door. Preston had lead her to a lavish office several doors away from Renard's room. It was decorated in navy blues and white. The color of the wood was rich and dark lending a nautical feel to the room. There was a large desk with a plush, white leather chair behind it and two large bookcases flanking it on the back wall. A picture of sail boats on a sparkling ocean leant to the nautical atmosphere. Cherry crossed the room, automatically taking the small seat in front of the desk, unsure her legs would support her once they began talking. She was so anxious. She felt sick and twisted the simple engagement ring on her finger to burn away the building energy. He seemed to be taking forever to pour a simple measure of whiskey, but if his hands were shaking as badly as hers, then it would be a monumental task!Gargoyles-1 yr later ch1.23 years ago in General Fiction More Like This

Her laughter brought the group of gargoyles around and their reaction was of one who hadn't seen a friend in a long time. Cherry Isolde rushed towards the group, to one in particular.
"Lass," Hudson greeted as Gotham leapt from his perch on the parapet and lifted the woman by her waist, high in the air. The two laughed in reunion and Cherry smiled down at the young gargoyle.
"I was so scared. I heard what happened! I'm so glad you're all okay,"

Gargoyles- New HomesA yellow moon hung full in the sky as Gotham's form sliced through the air. It was a breathing taking view of Manhattan to hang in a gargoyle's arms above the skyscrapers. The view cleared my head and the crisp wind, scented with rain and cooling cement, dried my tears. I recognized a police precinct building and was surprised as Gotham alighted on the balcony that surrounded the clock tower that nest above it. Perhaps Gotham was confused and thought I should talk to the police. I slowly dropped to ground and placed a hand on the railing to steady myself as a wave of dizziness washed over me.

"What are you doing here?" I asked. My stomach was in knots as I looked at him. Our kiss kept playing in my head over and over again. The taste of the kiss filling my mouth. "You ran away!"

Gargoyles-Gathering 5"Wait your majesty! This changes everything!" Goliath blurted as he remained frozen in the hallway. Both Xanatos and Puck looked at the gargoyle. No matter how soft or luxurious the sheets were. No matter how many times I rolled over and found a new position, it didn't matter. I couldn't sleep.
How could I? I didn't even know if he was alive!
The thought caused fresh tears to come to come to my eyes and I scrubbed them vainly with the back of my hand.
I was lying in Bruce and mine's bed, the Manor quiet save for the usual creaks and moans of an old house.

The smile on Broadway's face made my heart jump in delight. I had hoped that he would be happy, but seeing him like this, with so much joy clear in his expression, I knew that now had been the right time to tell him my news. One of his hands came to rest on my stomach, which was still flat.
"Wow," he said quietly, his tone one of awe and wonderment. "Wow just wow "
I couldn't help the giggle that escaped my lips. Much as I loved Broadway, he wasn't the most eloquent of Gargoyles. At least, not when he was taken by surprise like this. In the quiet moments when we were alone together, he could be very eloquent individual. If I recalled correctly, it was one of his moments of eloquence that had gotten us into this particular situation.
Leaning against my mate's chest, I smiled as he wrapped his arms and wings around me, as though afraid to let me go. I enjoyed the feeling of
